  1. Yeah.... you wouldn't have to do anything to it... .....other than remove the GTR badging, remove the ridiculous wing, remove the awful decals, remove the illegal BOV, remove the ridiculously oversized and un-needed tacho, replace the illegal gear shift knob, and re-trim the interior & replace the dash to get rid of all the holes and re-gain the use the vents etc etc etc. *shrug* each to their own I guess. Use of the terms "roller cage" "Fibroglass Cabon bonnet" "APEX computer" "looks like a GTR" makes you wonder if they even own the car, or have any idea what's what. ...and what's up with those tail lights.

  5. I'm bored, so I'm going to throw in a few comments A friend of mine died at the local BMX track, he wasn't the first to have died there, and he certainly won't be the last. The council don't care, and they certainly won't be closing it down just because a few people have killed themselves. Many people who work on the roads tend to be more aggressive than the average road user, they seem to have the attitude that just because they're working, they have more of a right to be there than other people do, which leads to a complacency of their driving skills & a bad attitude towards others. That statement is a bit wobbly. Eg; No amount of training can save you when you're obeying the road rules and speed limits, using good judgement, and going through a green light when someone coming along at 80+kph runs a red light coming the other way. Young people are (more so than older people) risk takers, and more often than not, think they're invincible, and have a "It can't happen to me" attitude. Interestingly enough, new drivers (P platers, young people) are more aware of the laws than most people who have been driving for 30+ years. A good example of this would be Victorias flip flops on traffic law changes over the years, with the phasing out and re-introduction of particular traffic laws. The only people who are aware of the changes to the laws, are new drivers who have recently studied the laws, enthusiasts who make it their business to keep their info up to date, and people who have been booked for doing something they didn't know was illegal. After doing a bit of research into fatalities on Victorian roads over the past 5 years, I've found that 251 people in the 16-25 year old age group have died after having "run off a straight road". ...which accounts for almost 50% of road deaths within that age group. Of those 251 people, only 148 were drivers responsible for their own deaths, the rest were (mostly) innocent passengers. That would indicate that "younger drivers" have more of a problem travelling at speed in a straight line, than they do negotiating busy city traffic, where they're more likely to simply scuff someone elses car and end up with nothing more than a bruised ego and an excess on their insurance. ...and let's face it, if you're going 110+kph and things start to turn pear shaped, panic would take over regardless of how much driver traing a person has had. ..as for my thoughts on "driver training"...... What really needs to be trained is peoples minds, not their abilities. Training peoples abilities lulls them into a false sense of security. Knowing how to control a skid is pointless if you don't know how to avoid getting into the skid in the first place. People simply don't seem to understand that anything can go wrong at any time, and you have to always expect the unexpected, and drive to suit the conditions of the road/time of day/weather etc etc. Giving people a place to go push their car to the limit won't help reduce road deaths. These places already exist, and people choose not to use them. /end novel you can have your thread back now.

    Import Dealers

errr... dude, did you read the first post? Those places are importers, not local dealerships. ..but moving right along, I've seen a lot of complaints about particular dealerships, and for each of those dealerships, I've seen equal amounts of praise. Don't let other peoples opinions put you off, go where you want, look at what you want to look at, and form your own opinions. Many times, people base their opinions of a company on the feedback of one or two whingers who expected to pay bottom dollar for a top vehicle, and got upset when their bubble burst. If you're buying a second hand vehicle, especially one this old, you have to expect that it will have problems at some stage, stuff will break, parts will need replacing etc. You may get a bunch of pm's saying "don't go here, don't go there"... My advice would be "go where you want, but don't buy unless you know EXACTLY what you're buying" If the "dodgy" dealerships were really as bad as some people would want you to believe, word of mouth would have killed their businesses long ago.

    Import Dealers

sure, hit the "back" button and go check out the sticky thread titled "Performance/import/automotive Related Links Wreckers & workshops, Legal info etc." We really need to find a way to make stickies fluorescent or something.
  8. Dunno how different the RB's are in regards to fuel pumps/starting issues, but here's a couple of things I've learned about fuel pumps and starting issues with the RB30. You need to make sure there is a good seal when replacing the internal pump. Stick the rubber seal in the freezer for a while before replacing it. (the cold helps it to shrink a bit, to ensure a snug seal) I had a cold start issue that went on for months. Replaced so many parts it was ridiculous. Once it had started it was OK, and it was fine on warm starts. It cranked fine, the fuel pump made a pumping noise, so we put it down to something electrical. All the usual culprits were checked and/or replaced, afm, cas, aac, fuel pump, fuel lines, injectors, plugs etc. There was also an intermittent fuel smell. One day while trying to start it, fuel could be smelled. Nismo R31 Jet (from this forum) happened to be with me at the time, and he said "try pulling the fuel pump fuse" We pulled the fuse, and the car started. It seemed that it had somehow flooded.... something that an EFI motor shouldn't really do... Driving home one day, I again noticed that I could smell strong fuel fumes. The car started idling like a tractor, and I had great plumes of white smoke coming out the exhaust. I chewed through more than $20 of petrol over a distance of less than 1km. After months of frustration and trial and error, it turned out that the problem was a broken diaphragm inside the fuel pressure regulator, which had been slowly getting worse. It's amazing how something so little can cause so many headaches. 20/25/26 are probably totally different with their bits, but I thought I'd share my nightmare, in case it can help someone out.
  9. I wasn't really happy with American Wasteland, I think they just wanted to get it into stores prior to (last years) christmas rush. I had all sorts of problems with it. There were lots of stupid glitches, I kept getting stuck inside walls, or stuck in impossible spots with no way of walking/skating/jumping/climbing out, other than resetting the console. ...but apart from the bugs, it was a good game. The whole "no loading" thing was a bit of a scam too.... At least with the loading screens it gives you a little while to look away from the screen and give your fingers a rest. Without the laoding screen, you have to continue skating along really boring bits of landscape while you wait for it to load. Oh well... at least the game came with a free watch.
  10. pfff it's not that bad. I've seen worse. I still haven't seen any other car which has been able to "out ugly" the Vortex. (although the Megane comes close)
  11. see the post above yours.
  12. get a room you two
  13. Some of the newer Spyro games a a little more complicated than the older ones, there was one that I had terrible trouble navigating.. can't remember which one it was though, all the landcape looked the same. Had a quick squizz in EB games today, both games are now available, it's just a matter of deciding whether to get them for PSP or PS2
  14. Someone other than me must like Tony Hawk, because they've made so many of them! Has anyone got their hands on Project 8 yet? Does anyone plan on getting it? Any idea what's going on with Downhill Jam? Are they only making that for Nintendo? If so, that sucks. Spyro: The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning Spyro rocks, I can't wait to try this one. I suppose everyone else is too grown up for Spyro?

How much text do you need? If you only need small amounts, use the 'sample' box and steal it out of there.
  16. Geez SK, we're going to have to give you your own sticky soon!

  19. Are you saying that just because a part can be unbolted, it's not considered "structural"? (not structial) .......because that would be insinuating that you don't have a brain.
  20. There are limits to how much you can get out of anything. The stock pistons are quite capable of handling 250+kw If you're aiming for anything higher than that, you'd probably replace them anyway.
  21. If it's for a race car, remove it altogether
  22. It's highly illegal and quite dangerous to remove the internals of a cat. Cats are designed to flow. If you gut the cat using the method you have suggested, it will interupt the flow, not increase it. However, if you would like to find out first hand, and risk a massive fine, as well as risking inhaling the carcinogens contained inside the cat, then by all means go for it. Unless it's a track car, get a proper high flow cat.
  23. They came like that from the factory. GeeTR, when painting engine parts, the main consideration is how much heat the items will be exposed to. If you use clear coat on something which is exposed to prolonged heat, the clear coat can become discoloured (yellowish-brown) and may start to bubble/flake/peel. My engines: When I started painting parts in the engine bay of my first 31, there wasn't much of a range in hi-temp paint colours, and I learned the hard way that there can be a fair bit of colour variation in the hi-temp paints. I used "Lively Lavender", and over the span of the project I used 2 different cans of paint, which is quite visible in photos. If you need to paint lots of stuff, or need to do a few coats to get the colour you require, I'd recommend using one can for the first layer/s and a different can for the final colour, so that any colour variation in the finished product doesn't stick out like dogs nuts. The back half of the rocker cover and the engine lifting loop things (one at rear, one in front) are visibly darker. Fortunately there's a much bigger range of colours (and textures) available now. The new project is getting more sedate colours used on it, so I've gone with Ford "Blaze Blue". The blue is not hi-temp, just regular duco paint. It's not as "WHOA!" as the lavender, but it still looks pretty. (I really should take some more pics, this photo was taken in full sun and the colour looks very washed out) The part showing at the back is more representative of the actual colour. There was no primer used in either of these projects, just good preparation of the surfaces prior to painting. All paint has held up fine, no discolouration, no peeling.
  24. Is the watermarking/staining (and the tape residue) on the inside or outside of the windows?
