Fred "says" a lot of things.
  3. If people pay to become a member of SAuVIC, then go out of their way to make an ass of themself and endanger other peoples lives on the roads, and there are witnesses, shouldn't they be held acccountable for their actions? Surely the committee has the right to revoke memberships based on such stupid behaviour? Ultimately, it makes the club look bad when the next triple fatality clearly shows a SAu sticker visible on one of the windows of the near un-identifiable smashed up vehicle?
  4. Meguiars have a few different plastic cleaners. I found this one called 'PlastX" Is this the one you've been using? If so I'll have a look for some.
  5. What colour is that? It looks like that orange/bronze/goldish commodore colour?

Ignorance is bliss. Exceeding the speed limit by more than 70kph is a recipe for disaster regardless of what you're driving. Speed limits are there for a reason (strangely enough) The roads up that way are often wet, and always unpredictable. As harsh as it sounds, he got what was coming to him, it's just unfortunate that fools like this always tend to take innocent victims with them.
  7. Downloaded the Loco Roco demo, it's heaps of fun! Only thing I don't like about it is the music... it gets in your head and you can't make it go away! The audio reminds me of Bomberman. So far in the collection, THUG2 remix - this was a must have, i own all the other Tony Hawks for PSX & PS2 and they rock! NFSU rivals Lemmings - I always feel evil when i have to make a Lemming explode Midway arcade - old skool goodness Untold Legends -this game is HUGE, so many levels, I've had to start making a map so that i can find my way around.
  8. Check out the R31 buying guide, it has a list of common rust spots, as well as a bunch of other things to look for when buying a 31.
  9. Do these products cause any hazing of the plastic? I purchased a small television with a clear plastic screen cover, but when i got it home, i found that there had been something dripped onto the clear plastic cover, and it has left some small 'scars' on the plastic. I've been contemplating using something like this to see if it will fix it.
  10. Yes, I did say that I hadn't been to the R31 forum for some time. I'm not spreading any rumours, I have nothing to lose and nothing to gain by fabricating stories. I didn't say anything about not being active within the club for some time, that is your interpretation. I said I hadn't bothered to visit the forum for a while. The 2 don't go hand in hand. I fail to see how anything I say can be detrimental to the event in question. I have no desire to attempt to sabotage cazz's gazillion hours of slog over organising this event, it just gets a bit old when time and time again, misleading stories are created for no apparent reason. As for stepping up and saying/doing something productive for this event, I (and several others) stepped up prior to this event being organised, back when it was just an idea, and made sure it was known that we would offer support, and help with event promotion when and if something was organised. Unfortunately there were no details forwarded to myself or any of the other people who said they would help with promotion, and if I'd taken it upon myself to intervene, I would have been doing the wrong thing. Due to event details having changed several times with minimal notice, any promotion details taken directly from the original information source would have been misleading. I'm aware of how much work needs to go into organising any event, and I know that organising something of this calibre is a massive headache, which is why many of us were willing to put our hands up to help, so don't pretend that you have any idea, when you obviously don't. adam (a.k.a. Spartacus) has just made the most intelligent, articulate, and well informed post in this thread.

  12. Some people will believe anything that they're told, so it never hurts to have "the other side of the story" thrown into the mix to give people something to think about. Mastadd why would I bag the R31 club? How/when did I do any bagging? I should also state that nobody ever approached any of "the powers that be" from the R31 club in regards to financial funding for this event. There's so much more I could say in relation to this, but there's not much point if the person spreading rumours won't step up.
  13. If people lack basic common sense, no amount of driver training will help. If a Police car is behind you with flashing lights/sirens, you pull over. The accident mentioned at the start of this thread is in regards to a criminal act, not lack of driver training. The driver simply didn't pull over. However, I'm not buying 100% into the story being told by Police, which stated that they called off the chase 300 meters prior to the crash scene. This doesn't smell right.
  14. SO.... hows that WOW thing workin out for ya?
  15. cazz, what motivates you to make up stories and spread rumours? What do you hope to gain by doing this? Someone drew my attention to this thread, and I certainly couldn't go without replying. It's quite apparent that a few things need to be set straight here. Untrue, never happened. Can't afford for the site to be down? Did the R31 forum downtime somehow leave you out of pocket? In regards to the above post, as a moderator of the forum, you were made aware of the fact that the hosting company was changing servers. You have been aware of this for quite some time. Admin had no control over the dates which the hosting company changed servers, so what's the point you're trying to make? This is not the first national event for Skyline enthusiasts, there have been others previous to this. If you have failed to publicise this event, then it's nobodys fault but your own, so don't try putting it on to anyone else. You don't even care about the event enough to mention it in your sig, let alone make an effort to put the word out in places where it will get noticed. I've not seen a single mention of this in any media, it would make sense that when organising an event of this calibre, one of the first things you'd do would be to contact some of the automotive magazines which have nationwide circulation. Rather than do this, you've prefered to rely on the R31 forum, and word of mouth. You were offered assistance by "the gods" in publicising this event, but opted against it. ..and oh yeah, considering that the first HR31's began to roll off the production line in 1985, the 20th anniversary of the 7th Skyline was actually last year. Why would you rely on the R31 forum for bookings? Don't you have a Skyline Nationals website for that? The R31 site is getting no publicity or thanks for the number of attendees which have been recruited via the R31 forum, nor is the R31 site acknowledged on any of the flyers which were designed to publicise this event. However, NDSOC, Skylines Australia and your own business all get a mention on the flyer, but the R31 "gods" aren't having a cry about the lack of recognition, so what do you think gives you the right to start complaining about a bit of forum downtime? Don't complain that you're not getting enough support from the R31 "gods", support was offered, you declined the offer. You have used the R31 forum to suit your own needs, and when things don't go your way, you come here and start bitching about the lack of support, and make up stories trying to make other people look bad, and let's face it, the truth generally has a way of coming out, and when it does, you're the one who ends up looking silly. ...and Bluprint was right, I haven't been around for quite some time. I've been unwell, and haven't taken the time to visit the R31 forum, because I know that all that awaits within is more of this sort of rubbish. ...People making up stories to try and make other people look bad, or just simply trying to stir the pot because they have nothing better to do with their time.

  17. saff, i had a windscreen replaced, and the very next day a 4WD flicked up a rock and left a nice spidery crack on my brand new screen (which had been fitted specifically for the car to pass RWC). I took down the rego, and got legal advice straight away, as I didn't think that it was fair that I should have to fork out for 2 windscreens in 2 days due to no fault of my own. The legal advice given to me was basically "tough titties". When you use the road, it is inevitable that you will get small amounts of damage from other vehicles. This includes stone chips to the paint on the front of the car, the side of the car (from vehicles going in the other direction), chips to your windscreen, cracked headlights, etc. The grass cutter scenario is slightly different. The grass cutter is not a road vehicle. They shouldn't be cutting the grass in a direction where it will fling debris at passing cars. They are also obliged to have safety signs to alert motorists to the fact that there is grass cutting going on. If the grass cutting is being conducted in an unsafe manner, the offenders will be held accountable. If a regular road user flicks a stone up, it isn't their fault... as wrxhoon has already said. Your company is not obliged to pay for damage caused to other peoples cars unless the damage was caused by some form of negligence on their behalf.

  21. hmmm not too sure about that one. As soon as I read the bit about not needing to check tyre pressures, something didn't sound right, so I went looking for some more info and came across this: The rubber used for tubes & inner liners in tubeless tyres is not 100% impermeable, therefore some pressure loss can be expected over time. This is one reason why regular pressure checks are necessary. Due to its molecular structure, nitrogen bleeds through the inner liner or tube at a slower rate than regular compressed air. This advantage applies to all tyres filled with nitrogen. Regular pressure checks are still recommended, as tyres often lose pressure due to slow leaks caused by punctures or valve leaks. Regardless of what you have in your tyres, you should still check the pressure regularly.
  22. I'd love to know how the mechanic managed to check an oil and/or fuel filter. They are both sealed, non servicable parts. Time to find a new mechanic.
  23. Did you put the leads back on in the right order? Have you re-checked that one of the leads hasn't come loose? Did you buy the right plugs? How did the old plugs look? (colour/condition) Did you touch anything to do with the distributor? You mentioned smoke prior to changing the plugs, what colour was the smoke?
