Horse power is the power required for the performance of work at the rate of 33,000 English units of work per minute; hence, it is the power that must be exerted in lifting 33,000 pounds at the rate of one foot per minute, or 550 pounds at the rate of one foot per second, or 55 pounds at the rate of ten feet per second, etc. hmmmm strange... i don't see anything metric mentioned in there? Give up.... you're tripping over yourself. While you're at it, enquire about some anger management classes.

er.... if you want people to "vote" maybe you should have made a poll. 33 would win hands down simply for the fact that every man and his dog has one.
-
er.... TOG is very 1980's of you. Traffic police are now TMU. (traffic management unit)

OK so who is the one who lost 2 a sportivo!!!

Closing time -
Back when Sandwon was built, there was hardly any housing in the area. The only thing around was the Necropolis (Crematorium/cemetary) , and as we all know, dead people don't whinge. The track has been there for over 40 years.... If anyone gets to have a say, it should be the residents who have been here at least that long.
-
As a resident, (I live within 5 minutes of the track, and hear everything that goes on) I would prefer that the track is opened once a month so people can "get it out of their system" rather than turning Westall Rd into their own personal drag strip.
-
um, that's nice. But we don't live in America. "We" (being the people of Australia) use the metric system. I would have thought that any dumbass would have known that. It's a bit hard to gauge a comparison of figures when factory numbers are based on numbers at the fly. I've seen plenty of RB30et setups without coolers. Unless you look under the bonnet, you would have no idea they were turbocharged. As far as the VLT conversion goes, you only need a cooler if you want to run more than standard boost. 30kw may look like a small amount on paper, but when you're behind the wheel you can feel the difference. (30 was just a conservative number i plucked out of the air) This is just the starting point... I wasn't saying "you wont get more than 30kw from a turbo set up" In fact, if 30kw was all that was gained, then something probaly isnt right. There are also many ways to hide an intercooler so that it's not a "fashion accessory" for the car.
-
er... it's "sista" and I'm in the 30+ clan. Geoff, most of us here know that Sandown has regular track days, but to Jo Blow on the street, they need something like Calder events which are held on a regular basis, with entry open to anyone. However...... Even if they COULD get council go ahead for this, it wouldn't stop street drags. In fact you could put money on it that dragging would get worse in the area. Anyone who has ever been to easternats would understand the lack of maturity and disregard for other peoples safety shown by "the hoons". The same goes on at Calder. People get into the car park, and they think they're really cool and carry on like idiots.... spraying stones on to other peoples cars... doing burnouts (or trying) just generally making fools out of themselves. Another reason that this just won't happen, is the fact that Sandown is used for track racing. It's not set up for 1/4 mile racing. Unless they are prepared to constantly resurface sections of the track, they would have to build a new 1/4 mile track (plus find somewhere to install boards/lights etc)

Generally we speak in terms of RWKW. If you stick your car on a dyno, you don't get a readout of kw@fly. I don't see how sticking a cam/chip/extractors will turn the car into a sleeper. At a cost of (guesstimate) $1200 to install said cam/chip/extractors, the power gains are minimal. (maybe 10rwkw gain) Compare this to the cost of doing a turbo conversion, and the turbo conversion should see a gain of around 30 to 40 rwkw, much more cost effective.
-
Yes, it does. Can you get a copy of this alleged letter?
-
She already has a GTS2, and I can't say I've ever seen a GTS2 pull 140 on a dyno... i'm assuming you're talking at the fly?

Gallery errors
SKY031 replied to SKY031's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
OK... just making sure you were aware of it. -
you're missing the point. What I'm trying to point out here, is that people are killed every day on the road. But since the release of movies like "fast and furious", the media only make a fuss over it when the cars involved are imports. At least 4 other people were killed on the road yesterday, including an unlicenced 16 year old in a commodore..... but i dont see that making headline news.
-
It's just unfortunate that it will never happen. Due to council noise restrictions, and the proximity of the track to local residences, I doubt we're going to see a track over this side of town while we're still young enough to enjoy it.
-
oh..... and why is it aimed at "young" people.....? I wanna be able to play too

I went to browse the gallery, and it was mostly errors Warning: main(/home/websites/93/www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost//cathead.tmpl): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/websites/93/www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost/templates/showgallery.tmpl on line 3 Warning: main(): Failed opening '/home/websites/93/www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost//cathead.tmpl' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/websites/93/www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost/templates/showgallery.tmpl on line 3 Warning: main(/home/websites/93/www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost//albums.tmpl): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/websites/93/www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost/templates/showgallery.tmpl on line 4 Warning: main(): Failed opening '/home/websites/93/www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost//albums.tmpl' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/websites/93/www.skylinesaustralia.com/photopost/templates/showgallery.tmpl on line 4 etc etc

Here we go again........ I think it's time I start attending council meetings.
-
I must say I agree with Rezz here... In the same newspaper that reported this story, this article was lower down the page: Backing up, down the bottom of the article about the Skyline crash, you will find this little snippet of news: Then it continues: ..but wait, there's more... You're only evil if you drive a flashy car.
-
I have jumped from a moving car before, due to the fact that the driver refused to stop when asked. I would NOT recommend that anyone try this, especially if the car is moving at anything over 3kph. It's not about passenger responsibility. The passenger is not in control of the car.
-
It's been happening all the time.... it's just being sensationalised more today than what it was a few years ago.
-
a bit of info about the motor would be handy.
-
For those who didn't happen to see this in the other post, i'm putting it in here as well. It will give everyone something to read/think about/ponder over while we're waiting for some more info.

Just for future reference (In case someone does a search and finds this thread) - i found this... which sheds a bit of light on VIC EPA laws in regards to pod filters.
