At least people are using the "search" function.

well its bloody awful in melbourne, rainy, overcast, cold, so i thought i'd take a trip to QLD for the arvo.
-
I guess not..... although i can take the heat on the drag strip, driving a manual isn't one of my strong points. I can however, teach you how to drive an automatic with a can in one hand, a smoke in the other, talk on the phone and give the person behind you the finger all at the same time!

well....... i didn't mean to.... It's just that i've never been a daddy before, and i don't know what it involves. I can be your daddy if you want, and we can go fishing and camping and hiking and play footy and spend some quality time drinking with 'the lads'...
-
Not you ...... ya goose! (and i don't have a big enough set of nuts to be classified as "dad")

Hello son!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wavey:

Siren actually appears to be located below drivers side headlight As for the lights, i agree... surely by putting a shield there, they are compromising the aerodynamics of the car, which means that they cant go as fast as they would be able to if the screen wasn't there. They should just bolt the lightbars to the roof/roof rack, like all the other Police forces across the world do! oh... and how many light bars did they lose before they decided that this was a good idea? I've seen these screens on some really old Japanese Police cars. (70's)

I'd recommend a Kenco product called "Shift-it" It's an automotive product, removes the toughest of stains (including grease) and can be used on fabrics, paintwork, laminate, plastic, ceramics, basically anything apart from polished metal. *Regardless of which product you decide on, always do a test patch first, in an inconspicuous spot, just to test that the fabric doesn't react in a bad way to the product. *Use clean white cotton fabric (ie; not an old towel) if you don't have any around the house, go and buy a metre from a fabric shop. *Always blot the area to be treated. NEVER rub.

Could someone please tell me what the 4 sticking up things on the bonnet are? I've seen these on a lot of Japanese Police cars, and I can't figure it out.

I'll take 2!! :headspin: -
Take her along to a car dealership. You'd be suprised at how many dealerships happen to have a Stagea just sitting there. Maybe once she's had a sit in one, she will change her mind.

Need My Rb20det R31 speedo!! help...
SKY031 replied to Mcboost's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Information thanks to Bozz If you've changed your diff or done something like putting the RB25DET gearbox in place, your speedo will be out due to wrong ratio's or different speed senders. Take the dashboard apart, unplug the speedo part from the backing board. You will see two PCB's attached to the speedo assy, you need to concentrate on the one with the UAF2115 IC on it. Unscrew the two screws that hold the odometer motor and the board will come away. Now look at the BLUE resistor at the corner of the board, next to the IC. This is the one you need to change, in my car it was a 57.4 ohm 1% resistor. Unsolder and remove this resistor. Go down to your electronics shop and pick up a 50 ohm ten turn trimpot and a 33 ohm resistor. Solder these two in series and then put them back into the circuit via a flylead so you can externally adjust the value. Put your dash backtogether and make sure the trimpot is somewhere it can be adjusted. Blend in with traffic in various zones and adjust it to what you think the rest of the cars are travelling at. Next enslist the help of your local friendly constabulary and ask him to get his laser speed gun and aim it at your car (in an 80 zone) and ask him to flash his highbeams at you when you hit 70km/h. Maintain the speed and adjust your speedo to be spot on. -
If it's a regular cop, they can't ask you to pop the bonnet. However, TMU can. This doesn't mean that they are allowed to touch anything though. Without your permission they are only allowed to "look"- if they have reason to believe that you have something illegal under there. If the car isn't registered to you, then you can refuse permission, but generally its a good idea to just go along with what they say so that you can be on your way with as few dramas as possible. If you people want to make life harder for Police, then be aware that Police can be fined if they don't provide you with the following details in writing when you ask for them:- Name Identification number Rank Station they come from. They MUST provide you with this information if you ask.
-
you're still missing the point here. They probably weren't even TMU. ......and we still don't know if calvintys actually got booked/canaried etc. Cops try to unnerve people. Maybe he shouldn't have given them cheek in the first place, and they would have gone away

i think you should have made the poll clearer.... what exactly are we voting on here? conspiracy:- could mean car yard conspiring to hide things from RACV RACV conspiring with Ford/Holden/Mitsubishi to steer people towards buying their cars, and to stay away from imports BS:- well..... which part are we voting for as BS? car yard conspiring to hide things from RACV RACV conspiring with Ford/Holden/Mitsubishi to steer people towards buying their cars, and to stay away from imports The fact that you can't get the car checked out by whoever you want If the car yard won't let you get an independant assessment of the vehicle, then that should raise some major concerns about how legitimate the dealership is.
-
no.... they pulled him over because THAT is their job.
-
Police do 'vehicle checks'.... where they go out and pull over cars. During these checks, they will ask ... "have you got your licence there?" "does the car belong to you?" They will take your licence back to their vehicle, where they do a registration check, to see if the vehicle is indeed owned by the person driving the car. They also check if it is listed as stolen, and they do a licence check, and check on the drivers traffic history, and any other involvements they may have had with the law. A car doesn't NEED to be stolen for them to do these checks, they are standard checks that are done every time that a car is pulled over. The 2nd time he got pulled over, the police who checked his details would have known that it was the 2nd time that he had been pulled over that night, because if a vehicle has been checked, it stays listed as checked for 48 hours.
-
I think you people are over reacting. If your car was stolen, then you'd want to know why the cops weren't out looking for it. Do you realise that when they check your cars details, that they are in fact checking the database to see if the car is listed as stolen? The fact that they were just doing their job, and you gave them attitude.... ...is enough of a reason for them to give you a hard time. Don't give them a hard time when they're just going their job. It's not as if they would have known that you were pulled over 20 minutes earlier.
