  1. wow... you got randomly pulled over for a random breath test. That's such terrible victimisation.
  2. .....and people there will only tell you to search, because the topic has been done to death. Have a read of these. GTS brake upgrade R33 brake upgrade Brake upgrades misc.
  3. Vic already has a sticky with most of this stuff..... if you're after more links, go check out the sticky in the vic section. Here's some other stuff: Vehicle Transport companies Wreckers - listed by state, mostly Victorian, may not be 100% up to date. Workshops - also listed by state Legal Information - again, listed by state. Kids stuff - for kids (big and small!) Paint or colour your own 31, or make some paper models.
  4. This should keep you entertained for a while. (if the server it's hosted on decides to stop being dodgy for long enough to load the pages) Car parts and accessories Car sales and importers Forums and car clubs Online converters and tools Race tracks and racing links Enjoy
  5. I can't get past rank #2 on P8. I've unlocked the downhill section, but I just can't get that little extra bit. If anyone has some tips (or cheats) it would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Nothing has gone over my head, my comparisons aren't far fetched at all, if you can't see the correlation, don't cry about it, let's move on. It's pretty funny to watch people jumping on the bandwagon of "it's the governments fault and they should do something", when this has nothing to do with the government. Why would it? How many public access race tracks are government owned? I never said anything about the answer being simple, so please, don't be another one of these stooges who has to take everything I say out of context, and then twist my words into something totally different. 20 million dollars sounds like a bit of a stretch, but let's say that's an accurate figure. I'm quite obviously not talking about a bake sale here, I'm sure you're aware of that much at least. When "Mr.Average Joe" wants to be pro-active and do something positive to try and get a project like this off the ground, Mr.Joe doesn't sit around on the net whinging that "it's not faaaaair". Mr.Joe gets off his butt and does a bit of research, environmental impact studies, cost breakdowns, legal protection etc, and other relevant stuff like road toll info, social impact studies, and rough current costings per head of population to show how much money each individual is currently contributing to things such as TAC rehabilitation. Mr.Joe then puts all the information together in a nice little package, and approaches corporate sponsors (with cakes and muffins, if that's what it takes) to tell them why they need to get in on the ground floor with their project. ..but this won't happen, because it's easier to complain about things than to actually do something. As for "it's not about making money", of course it is. No-one in their right mind is going to sponsor a project which isn't going to make money. Nobody will sink their valuable funds into helping to provide a resource which is going to have ongoing out of pocket expenses. ...as for your comments re Sandown, it has been explained, many times, that it simply will not happen. P.S, I am not personally responsible for the fact that it won't happen at Sandown, so there's no point in showing anger towards me on the issue.
  7. I thought that was aimed at my post for a second, then I realised it couldn't be, because if it was, you obviously hadn't read what I had to say in relation to the term "illegal street drags".
  8. did you add something in there? It might be easier if you edit all the rest of the stuff out and only post what you're adding.
  9. 13 posts removed. Any more posts in here from people who aren't interested in buying, REGARDLESS what you think of the asking price, you WILL be issued a warn. If you don't want to buy, don't hit the reply button.
  10. ......aaaaaaaand i'm back As you can see, those 2 links I provided are in relation to deaths on Melbourne streets, due to (your words, and the medias) "illegal drag racing". This is where I begin to take issue with the media. Drag racing is a sport. An ACTUAL sport. "Illegal drag racing" is a term the media has created in an attempt to further glorify what these idiots do. The term "illegal drag racing" shouldn't even exist. It's street racing, plain and simple. Drag racing has nothing to do with anything, if someone fancies themselves to be a drag racer, they'll go to the track and willingly put their money where their mouth is. Otherwise, they're not a drag racer, they're just a wanker. ..but let's move on from that, because that's just me being pedantic about the way that the media have to put their own spin on everything. This is where the point seems to go too far over peoples heads..... So what if they have access to testing grounds and tracks? Why should they use them? Why should they have to travel to get there, when there's public roads so much closer to their homes that they could be using? As for the plane example, same thing. You may see it as being a whole other issue, but is it really? If you had a plane, and you wanted to loop the loop in front of all your mates, but you couldn't afford to hire a bus to transport everyone to eg; Bangalore, would you set them up with a BBQ in your backyard and tell them "wait here, i'll be back in 2 hours to show you what i can do" ? I'm not trying to argue over anything, I'm just telling it how it is, and people are getting offended by the truth. If people want to involve themselves in a sport, then I encourage them to do it, and to do it safely. If people don't want to involve themselves in a sport, they shouldn't make an ass of themselves by pretending that they're a legend in said sport, when in fact they would never actually have the balls to participate at a competitive level. If people feel so strongly about this, why isn't anyone actively doing anything? "Let's email a local newspaper, that'll do lots" The newspaper is not on the side of enthusiasts, because they now equate enthusiasts with hoons. Is there anything stopping people from raising money via sponsors etc, buying a big block of land away from residential housing in the SE and buildling a purpose built drag track? .....anything other than the knowledge that it simply wouldn't get used? If any business thought for an instant, that there was a buck or two to be made, someone would have jumped on it already.
  11. Ni, go take a look at the stats in regards to speed related deaths in Victoria. I know these stats are left open to interpretation, and illegal street racing is hard to prove in many instances, but closing your eyes to something doesn't mean it doesn't happen, and it doesn't make it go away. anyhoo, you want examples, here's a couple that google offered nyah and nyah ...and you know there are many more, I won't bore you with them. For those who are old enough to remember Melbournes first skate park, you'd be well aware that people were willing to travel as long as it took to get there, just so that they could have a good time without causing a danger to other people, and without being fined for doing something where it wasn't considered safe to be doing it. ...and the majority of these people didn't have access to transport of their own, other than their board. This isn't the same situation at all. There are venues for people who want to drag race. ...but "it's too far" or "it costs too much" or ......pick an excuse. Do you see F1 drivers taking it to the streets because there isn't a track in their backyard? Do aerobatic fanatics choose a patch of sky to play in and just go for it? NO! There seems to be a basic misunderstanding here, and that is, people just don't seem to see the problem with street racing. Racing is dangerous even when done on a track. Just ask Todd Wilkes, or Peter Brock, or Ayrton Senna .........oh wait.. they all died in racing accidents, so you can't ask them. People drive around in their "sports cars" thinking that they're the best thing on earth, and have no basic comprehension of the fact that what is marketed as a "sports car" is nothing more than a family car with a particular badge stuck on it, and it doesn't in any way make it a vehicle which is fit to race, especially in an uncontrolled environment. You know I could go on all day, but alas, I have things to do. Scan that article when you get home nark!
  12. How many innocent people have had their lives ended/destroyed/changed forever by skateboarders in the last 5 years? Try putting things into perspective rather than attempting to equate the situation to something which essentially has no relevance. You're comparing a skateboard to a 2 tonne hunk of metal moving at 100+ kph. A skateboard may put out around.... oh.... let's be generous and say 60db max when it's slammed into the ground as hard as you can manage, compared to the constant 90+db noise of droning exhausts and spinning tyres which can be heard 4+ kilometers away. Re: stuff in the paper, the only thing I can see is yet another article which is full of tripe, with inaccurate "facts" (eg: there are only 20 days of the year when motorsport events are held at sandown...LOL!) and re-confirmation that more hoon events are simply not going to happen. ....maybe I'm looking at the wrong bit? Links? Scans?
  13. bingo.... someone came in and started stirring shit, all the off-topic/abusive/pointless stuff was removed. Back on topic, here's a vid of GTR_R31's R31 Ti breaking into the 12's
  14. In that case, sort out existing issues before you modify anything else.

    Car Washes

WINK FEST!!!!! I'm assuming that was aimed at my comments, so I'm going to ask.. (if i may) Why do people constantly misinterpret my comments, or try to read more into them? What i said was... "...It could have collected anything from being in the shed, or it could have collected sticks, pebbles or broken glass from being flung on the ground/falling out of the bucket." I don't know what you do in your shed, but our shed is used for shed type purposes. Inside, there are all sorts of nasties, like metal filings, paint stripper etc, and the ground around our home has pebbles and twigs and all the standard things on the ground like most peoples homes. It would be irresponsible to quote (alleged) figures without providing the source, and also a comparison. (Eg; the pressure supplied by the standard wash bays?) The standard "home use" pressure washer operates between 1400 and 1600psi and I'll even provide a source to back that up Based on those numbers, wouldn't everyone who owns their own pressure washer, (by your calculations) be driving around in a bare metal car? CarLovers are so confident of their laserwash, that they advertise it as "no scratches, ever", and I've used it regularly, and guess what? I haven't had any scratches... ever. The only thing I have to dispute there, is the fact that many of the people who have been trying to pass themselves off as "enthusiasts" have outed themselves as hoons recently, and to be quite honest, a couple of scratch marks should be the least of their worries. 800psi isn't massive, remember, we're talking about water pressure here, not turbos .....about the only thing I agree with out of all that you've said, is that degreaser wasn't meant for paint... but in the quantities supplied from a public car wash it would be so massively diluted, that you'd have to be actually TRYING to damage the car with it.

inark, you must have been awol while the "great carwash debate" was raging. This makes me wonder, when people wash their cars at home, do they do it without checking the sponge they're using? It could have collected anything from being in the shed, or it could have collected sticks, pebbles or broken glass from being flung on the ground/falling out of the bucket. I will continue to maintain that the brushes do not cause damage (because it seems even you are willing to concede that the issue wasn't actually the brush, but user error due to not checking the brush properly prior to use). ....but anyway, we've gone a bit OT If people don't want to use the brush, then don't use it, but PLEASE learn to think for yourselves, and stop basing opinions on "my mate said". If you're paranoid, there is always the laser wash. Nobody person or brush needs to touch your car.

    Car Washes

If they have admitted liability, then they don't get to choose the repairer. That would be a nice little scam, drive in, they damage your car, "oh woops, you'd better take that to my panel beating shop to get it fixed." A few weeks ago I needed to park in the city. I drove into a car park, and they asked me for the keys..... they wanted to park it themselves. Umm..... I don't think so! I went and parked elsewhere. (...and I only drive a shitter) Be very selective about who you allow to drive your car. ....as for everyone complaining about the brushes, this has been covered fairly extensively, many people say they cause damage, yet nobody has been able to show any damage actually caused to their vehicles (or anyone elses) from using the brushes. It's all a matter of "I heard" and "my mate said". Rinse the car before you scrub it, and rinse the brush before you use it, and you'll be fine.
  18. It might help if you tell people what you intend to use the car for.... .....or at least what sort of power you're after. Otherwise it's kind of like asking someone where they think you should go on holiday, when they have no idea what you like.
  19. I wouldn't bother with Springvale as mentioned by a couple of people..... unless you're after asian groceries. Some places that might be able to help you with stuff are: http://www.shoji-tatami.com.au/ Asian Bazaar Imports 146 Ashley St Maidstone any Ishka store There are also a bunch of places that sell imported asian furniture and decor, but I only know of ones over in the south/south east.
  20. People are idiots. If they can't figure out how it works, it's their problem. ......it's not as if an elevator is new technology. If a 80 year old can work an ATM machine, people between the ages of 18-79 should be able to figure out how a lift works. (Either that, or they should just learn to take the stairs)
  21. That sounds scary.... I've only got a hunk of junk, and I don't even like handing the keys over to workshops even when I can watch what they're doing to it. I hope they're well covered by their own insurance in case they break/damage stuff. It's insane that they have the ability to take your car behind closed doors and have their way with it. I wonder if these inspections are videotaped? What happens if the car comes out of the inspection a little worse for wear? -scratched paint, or dirt on seats, or things missing, or mysterious electrical issues begin straight after you get the car back? They could be doing anything to it! EG; drive it in with $2500 suspension, then drive out with $250 suspension, all they have to say is "we didn't do it and you didn't see us do it, so you can't prove anything". Perhaps you could try...... "it's under the age of 18 and needs a guardian present at all times"? I guess this just goes back to my distrust of these agencies. Their levels of competency aren't exactly inspiring, but I should probably butt out of this now, because I have no real relevant input.
  22. Could you also include........ Mr.Whippy? I'm getting sick of this dude. He keeps coming down my street, with his music blaring, surely this has to be an EPA issue? If it's not him, it's that "Home Ice-Cream" guy... the one with the bell? DING!DING! DING!DING! I'd like to give him *$%#@* DING!DING! They aren't emergency vehicles, they shouldn't be allowed to make so much bloody noise. Thanks to Mr.Whippy, I'll never again be able to enjoy "Greensleeves". It's all Bracksy's fault.
  23. Oh dear, please don't put words in my mouth and then ask me to respond, and please don't skew what I've said. I simply stated that it isn't as prevalent in the west as it used to be. Nothing about "no more street racing out west because people are dead or old". .....just not as prevalent. Of course it still goes on. ....and does having a facility like Calder Park available to people stop them from being idiots on the road? YE.....er..... NO! I am well aware that hoons are not specific to "this" generation, because I've been around long enough to experience more than one generation of idiots on the roads. ... as a quick example of what I mean, (and I know I'm going to cop ultra flamage for this) areas change and grow, so do the residents. When the residents change, so does the types of crime in the area. Different classes of residents have different behavioural traits. Some classes are simply more likely to engage in certain types of criminal behaviour. Re Heathcote, I don't go every weekend, I don't have the desire, or the need, but if I had either, I wouldn't hesitate. ....and are you sure you don't want to explain to everyone what a slip lane is?
  24. Starionturbo you must be special. I live just as far away from Heathcote as you do, if I can manage the trip, I'm sure you can do it too. I think before you both start trying to tell me that I'm part of the problem, go and have a read of what's been addressed so far. I've already encouraged people to do what they think will help, I'm just not bothering to jump on their bandwagon, because I've lived in the area long enough to know that the council simply will not consider Sandown as a viable option for "hoon events". I don't for an instant believe that the people who race on the street would actually pay to go to a track. I can remember a time when exactly the same sort of "hoon behaviour" was rife in the west, regardless of legal venues being available to people. Most of those people either grew up or killed themselves or moved out east so it's now not as prevalent as it was in the west. Why would it be any different in the east?
