  1. You old fart! Hope you had a great birthday. ~K :alcoholic
  2. You know you're getting old when people start raving about bands that you've never even heard of.
  3. it could be an ecu from an RB20det R31 Are there some numbers or other identifying marks on it?
  4. These forums have a "no workshop bagging" policy. If you have a problem with the workshop, then take it up with them, or find someone else to work on the car.
  5. If it wasn't ticking prior to the oil change, then it's not right for the car. The oil that you were using before..... was that fully synthetic? Instead of paying heaps for new lifters, you might benefit from cleaning the ones that are in there. (That's probably all the workshop will do anyway)
  6. I'm familiar with the 'battery' theory that people are putting forward, but the problem isn't battery or alternator related. Most of us have experienced the "click click click" of a flat battery, but this isn't the case here. Re-read the post. From what i can gather, the noise he is refering to is occuring while the motor is going. If this is the case, then yes, it's most likely the lifters. You say that you used 10w-30 when you did the oil change....... it sounds like the oil you chose could be too thin. Maybe try using 5w-50 Otherwise once the oil heats up, it will run off all the moving parts instead of staying where it's needed.
  7. Thoughts....... all the things you mention are your own fault. Start taking responsibility for your own actions. Help is close at hand.
  8. Here's one of the 34's
  9. Download the jap font for adobe (it should try to download it automatically)
  10. I wasn't sure if i should post this in 'art' or in here, so if it's in the wrong place, feel free to move it. Going through some old magazines today, I found this DIY paper model in the March 1992 edition of "MOTOR" magazine, and thought I'd scan it and stick in here so that all you people who get bored at work can cover your desks in little 32's. Enjoy!
  11. Thread here might help a bit: *click*
  12. Once you've finished with the polishing, you can apply a clear coat, but over time the clear coat will start to turn yellowish and dull...... it's easier to leave it raw and autosol it before showing it off.
  13. Autosol fixes that... I have a polished plenum, rocker cover and power steering canister. It's a fair bit of work to keep it shiny, but it looks pretty Before and after pics of the engine bay can bee seen in the link under my avatar.
  14. .......... it has a very pretty strut brace.
  15. er.... it's already closed.
  16. GAME? That's all this is to you isn't it. A game. You come in here telling people not to assume anything, and then you make a post assuming that everyone is "in the same game" as you? Life isn't a "game" to most of us. Most of us have respect for our cars, our lives, and the lives of others. Just because a car is capable of going fast, it doesn't mean that you (or others) have the right to use public roads as a race track. :thumbdwn:

  19. Prices will vary from state to state, and also depend on availability of parts.
  20. Aren't Chrysler still using carbies in the Neons?
  21. Further to that, you will also be needing a gearbox (RB30 gearbox won't last 5 minutes) and if "paying through the teeth" is an issue, then it might be worth rethinking your plans. This isn't a cheap conversion, and as you go along, more costs will become involved. Do all the research first to find out if this conversion is actually within your budget before you start buying parts. You'll be looking at around $6000 worth of parts (that's not including turbo or labour)
  22. Before you go ahead with asking a million questions, it's best to go and read all the info that's out there so that you can get an idea of exactly what it is you're doing. Here's some stuff that may help. Rowans twin cam head tutorial A useful article: Page 1 Page 2 Page 3 There's a lot more info out there, you will benefit a lot more from learning about it yourself and actually understanding it, instead of being told what to do.
  23. Was it a gts1 or 2? GTS1 is in NSW, owned by a guy on the R31 forum who goes by the nick of (strangely enough) gts192
