Hey guys, I am a member of the r31skyline club, but haven't gotten as much response as i would have hoped to, all the turbo nerds seem not to reply . Anywho, I have a stock rb25det, series 1, in my r31 skyline. Stock sidemount, 33 ecu, rah rah rah. I will post up the topic i did on the r31 club, to save re writing, and will also post up some answers from the people that replied, just to see if anyone agrees/disagrees/can extend on further. they are basically all boosting/turbo problems anywho 1st. When boost comes on... it feels, weird, like it will jutter, its a weird feeling, hard to explain, it feels like when your almost about to stall a manual car. I ahevnt mucked around with the dual stage boost control enough, butit seems to do it more on 9psi than on 6. I was watching the gauge when i had it on 9.. it would start off, looked like itd stop to around 6, then itd slam to about 12, in a quick sudden move, and the car will well jutter again as id change gear everytime it happened, is that boost spike??? IT feels really unsmooth... i think the turbo may be a bit gone, as there is no turbo timer and the engine has been in for 3 years without one, and when i went for a drive with the previous owner, he had boosted it fairly often and just switched it off. 2nd. I think its an ecu/tuning problem, it is running off standered 33 ecu, is there supposed to be a cut out on the 33 ecu? I had read that the 25 makes peak power around 6400, and it feels like its cutting off at around 5000 (according to tacho), itll keep reving past there but no power will be made, its like hitting a block wall. Is that normal or will mr aftermarket ecu fix it?? But yeah, the boost problem is the weirdest, im thinking maybe the sidemount is a bit to small, or maybe the gearbox ratios? as its running the standered 30 gearbox... I want to take it to a turbo specialist, but i dont wnat to get charged a million dollars for them to say oh it just needs a tune. Thanks heaps Todd. SOME OF THE ANSWERS/size] Lysdexia for your first q, yeh thats boost spike when it hits 12 then comes back down. the way it hesitates as it comes onto boost could be a few things, but spark would be the first thing i'd look at. turbo cars for the most parrt need to have the plugs gapped down to .7 or .8, or even smaller. if this downt help then it may be a fuel issue, which could be caused by any number of things, afm would possibly be the first suspect though. second question. the only cut you should be experiencing is a rev cut, and thats at liek 7500rpm on the 33 ecu. to me it sounds like you may have a fairly common problem there, as if i recall you're still running the stock airbox. if so, and you have a soft rubber turbo intake pipe, theres a high chance your intake pipe is sucking itself closed. you can diagnose this easy, tae your airbox lid off and the filter out, go for a run. if it still does it then, then there's your culprit. Angry common for some r33 ecus to have a "big hole" .. in the rev range .. at around 5k ... then pick up marginlly after that .....can be tuend out thru SAFC or try your luck getting another stock ecu.. The stock fuel pump for the 31 was also suggested to be of cause as well, I am looking at getting a 040, that will last a while for future mods as well. And yes i do have the stock rubber intake Lysdexia was on about. What do you guys with experiance with 25s/33's think??? Cheers, Todd.

Hey guys, I am advertising my car on here as I have tried on Ebay with not much success. Car is also listed on the r31 skylineclub. Here goes, as honest as possible. Exterior: Grey over silver paint, excellent condition bar the boot which is fading (am looking at painting it soon). Not a dent anywhere, absolutly straight as an arrow. Was a one owner car before me, ederly man, country car. Has Ti rims, and silo boot spoiler, and s3 hotplates without the plastic covering. Just spraypainted door handles, window frames, and rubber mouldings around the car have been shined up. Looks very good indeed. Interior: Flawless blue silo interior, even with great original steering wheel. Has slight rip on drivers side seat, but seat covers which can come with the car cover it. Cd player with 6 inch speakers all around. Shit cd player mind you. Engine Bay: Mods: 2.5 extractors into 2.5-2.75 inch custom exhaust. XF Throttle body with custom stainless steel intake piping, with Pod filter and CAI. Am thinking of advancing the timing but will retard it back if i can sell it. Great car, drives fantastic. Manual conversion was done last weekend (20th Jan or there abouts). Suspension and brakes; Recently replaced (3 weeks ago), ball joints, sway bar bushes front and rear, and radius rod bushes. GT gas suspension with stock springs. Has dual swaybars, can remove one if buyer doesnt want. Strut brace is on. RWC tyres, LSD is tight as a mo fo. Guys this car is absolutly awesome, it sounds mean as and makes little kids cry due too the noise. It is legal noise though, but probably one of the best N/a rb30e's I have ever heard. Goes bloody good as well, LSD is tight. Time for some pictures! Haha, at a 24hr servo a few weeks back, i was filling up the ol skyroid (R31), and these 2 lads, one was you know, normal lookin guy, obviously had been on the gas, and the driver was like indian. They were driving THE biggest POS VN (Funny how they all drive VN's?), they were only a year or 2 older than me (im 17), and they like pulled in next too me. They yell, and im only like 2 meteres, away, there like get a f**ken real car. I was shocked, i just replyed look at yours, its got about 6 different paint jobs. And there like derrrr so what, is yours turbo or not? come on, give us a run, we'll see whos laughing then. I replied with im not stupid enough, so they take off, absolutely hammer the thing, yellin GET A REAL f**kEN ENGINE! Quite amusing i thought. I've got many a bogan storeys.

Really, i thought all spacers were illegal. You can get spacers in any size, from 2mm too 20mm. Slip on ones are cheap and nasty and one of the most illegal things you could do, bolt on ones range, depends where you get em or if you have too get them made up. About $50 - $150 per spacer is it not?

I would even replace the ball joints if i were you, specially if they had come loose, was there any grease around the dust seals? I did all my front end bushes and ball joints the other week, wheel alignment, handles a thousand times better.

So your getting an rb20de or 25de? What i suggest, go a 31. You can get em (theres 2 for sale on r31skylineclub.com) with an rb25de in em, and some with rb30de. They are cheap, they are reliable, I have one ( ), and they go good as well. It'll only be for a while, and they are sleeper 4000. Love em.

Hey bud, on r31skylineclub.com, heaps of info for you there. Go LSD, from an r31 silo or vl turbo (exact same anyway). My silo lsd has 3.89:1 gearing. As for fitting pinny gears into an lsd diff, not hard if you know what your doing or have a Gregories in front of you, 2 hour job.

Hey guys, Names Todd, im 17 years old and live in Cairns, I've been a member of the R31 skyline club for a year or so now (Rb30 lovin), I can't find anywhere on this site too add myself to, to say im new and stuff. This sites so much f**kin bigger than the R31 one. Is anyone else up in the Cairns area (even townsville)? Theres a few r33's goin around (alot with wankas who dont appreciate the fact they own a skyline).
