  1. Howdy All, Yes i have done a search and cant find any info on these tyres.... I have found some for sale and in the quest to go faster and lower my times i am considering throwing a set of full slicks at the nugget!!! Questions being, has anyone ever heard of these? How are they? How many laps will i get out of them? How much would you pay for a set of 4?? Google has yielded nothing.... Anyone... anyone... Bueller?
  2. Congrats Stu and rest of the fam!!!
  3. Oct long weekend perhaps.... dunno, just speculation atm i think... or i could just be full of it... which i would say is a safe bet
  4. Good to hear champ. Thanks for letting me have a sticky beek at the car too The footage isnt anything special... just see you all of a sudden slow down and me catch up trying to avoid you and figure out what u were doing thru kink and start of T2 lol..... im sure you were also trying to figure out what the hell just happened
  5. lol dont you hate when you hit the wrong button I have footage of me coming around the kink and you pulling over after the incorrect deployment..... Hope wasnt too much damage apart from windscreen!
  6. High 180's for me.. the little failvia needs moar huff!!! Plus wing will slow me down a good 10-12kms.. lose some top speed but gain rear traction x11ty! Yeah Charles i agree, i was thinking the camera could be causing that but i have another photo from the rear with the camera on the passanger side, yet the wing is uber flexing on the same side.... DUNNO!?!?!? *shrugs*
  7. Awesome photos cassbo champ!!! I have to say your photography is bloody excellent BUT has me scratching my head as to what the feck my wing is doing under heavy downforce load!!! It looks to be warping on the passanger side, or generating a higher downforce on that side..???!?!?!?! NFI!!
  8. What ^^^^he^^^^ said My wing is certainly no engineering masterpiece, cost me a sweet $100 smackers 2nd hand.... As mentioned it could do with sitting higher and having a dual plane, but on a Team PSR (Povo Spec Racing) budget, my $100 wing will do just fine Hey hey i had time to do all that simply because i slowed down and pulled out the popcorn to watch the Yellow Tug Boat 'slide' into dock.....
  9. Funny stuff... i remember TRYING to keep up with you down the straight and watching you get a little unsettled thru 1 and into 2... I had Neil in the car as well and we both were like... oh oh oh here he goes... YEP roundy roundy.... Thought it deserved a toot of approval Now i am not going to get into a huge debate as it has been done time and time again.... BUT... my personal opinion, i feel that the silvia is a lot more stable thru high speed corners (Turn 1 @ OP GP & Wakey) thanks to my wing... it could benefit from sitting a little higher, but it simply sits a lot more stable on the track thanks to the rear downforce... i even fabricated a metal frame that bolts underneath the boot lid to aid the transfer of downforce to the chassis... Only downfall is it seems to need more OMPH to get up speed down the straight due to extra drag of the wing.... but hey id rather the extra rear grip than loosing the few km/h's down the straight... Anywho food for thought Stu.... Brad may have some more input.. he runs a decent wing. EDIT** Just found a pic of the Silvia from Turn 1 at OP GP... if you look it seems that the wing is actually sitting horizontal to the track in comparison to the 'roll' of the car... not a aerodynamic specialist or betend to know anything, but i would be led to believe that this pic indicates the wing is infact providing downforce. Hey i could be oh so wrong but many peeps have commented on how 'settled' the car looks thru corners...
  10. Congrats Stu, said it once, said twice, and i will say it many times over... What a car!!! Now back to the lab so the mad scientist (aka Stu) can do some R&D to keep the yellow donk on the black stuff
  11. So pissed didnt take u out in the failvia George!! Next time for sure! But yes all i cam say that wiggles MX5 is an absolute blast to drive! I cant wait for the next opportunity to play swapsies with Chubbeh!! Currently trying to see if i can figure out this whole upload to you tube thing/... if i succeed i will post some vids
  12. Awesome day and glad to see everyone enjoyed themselves... apart from the list of incidents and engine failures... oh yeah and that debarcle of driver briefing... lets not waist an hour of track time again like that!!!! Perhaps a slightly different arrangement can be thought out for future events... ie.. Quick usual 15 min talk for all peeps, then newbies stay behind for the full version, whilst the experience guys go out to get their first sessions done. By the time (30-45 minutes) the briefing is done for newbies, its their turn to get out on the track.... just my 2c.... To those peeps that i jumped in with, WELL BLOODY DONE!!! Really impressed with each and everyone of you! George, Charles, Andy & Ian (think that was it) I hope my ear bashing and dodgy lines provided a bit of assitance to the day! Stu mate that car of yours is absolutely brilliant!! Was fun chasing it in the failvia and watching you constantly fight the thing for traction... congrats on its first outing and making it thru in one piece! Testiment to driver and builder!! Failvia held up well and gave me some good practise for our next Round of SSCC!! Bring on the next one!!! Congrats to all that organised and helped out... the day was a great success!
  13. Still no PM Keen to know some pricing if its possible please.......
  14. Lookin good Stu!! All good to go for Friday i take it?
  15. Cars indeed!! Just like women... cant live with em, can live without em... *no offence ladies* $4.5K for a trailor.. sheet does it have a mobile BJ booth on it? Thats a lot of moula... from doing some research you can pick up one for around $2-$2.5K... Appreciate the offer Ryan champ but a little steep for my povo budget!! If you dont mind PM who you sourced your trailor from that would be awesome. My rego isnt due till Oct but i want all bases covered and the decision made asap. Cheers for your input as well. Good to hear pointers from someone who has done the derego thingy It is a toughy really, pros and cons each way you look at it... My biggest con is i live on a tiny street in townhouses with no room for a trailor, so i would struggle with leaving trailor on the street 90% of the time....
  16. interesting read... as i am currently in the same boat.... other option to think about is Club Rego... but i think that involves a PC license yada yada yada... Mebe Ryan we can talk a supplier into doing a deal for 2 x car trailors Can i just add my 2c thou.... Do you have a suitable tow vehicle? Is it capable of towing no fuss.... my VY will require about $1K of mods to safely and continually tow 1600kg+ Do you have the space to store a trailor? Another thing is you never find out any issues with the car until your on the track.... keeping it rego'd you can drive around and potentially find any issues prior to race day.... Do you want to ever sell it? If so rego'd or non rego'd? How much $$$ will you lose by trying to sell it deregistered.... yada yada All food for thought and what is running through my head
  17. Hey mate just some fellow SAU'er advise, I am in the market for some track 16"s but i think you would do yourself some favours by trying to find out the width + offset. Ie. 16x8 + 32 Are they 8" wide and what is the offset? They should have a sticker or some form of stamp on the inside which will indicate this information. This can determine whether the rims fit or not to a buyer.... just a thought for you champ as it may improve the chance of the sale!! PCD is the stud pattern. Ie. 5 x 114.3, etc etc G/L Buddy!
  18. Hey Ali, I am chasing some pricing on 4 x RE55s or R888 in 225x50x16 PM please! I think i sent a PM a few days ago... but havent heard anything champ Ando
  19. Amen to that!!! i want to pester you and your car for ideas / setup So please come to OP GP!!
  20. Sup Dave! Yes plenty of constructive comments. The reason it is a dog to drive is due to my slackness.... It hasnt had an alignment (+5mm toe out on rear right, incorrect camber etc etc) i have 2 flat spotted semis on the rears which provide plenty of vibration, 'skipping' from the rear and a suspected stoofed coilover (leaking) on front left..... So the core of the car is perfect, just a few things that i havent address in the last couple of months due to $$$$$$$$$$ which affect its handling and drivability/predictability.
