  1. Hi. Try another battery in it if you havent already. The battery which has been shorted may be the cause. You will more than likely find if its not the problem the battery will not last very long.
  2. Hi. Your pedal box looks like it has been welded before. The welding doesnt look factory. The rb25 painted on it is a fair indication along with the surface rust point to it being second hand. I would buy a good clean unit and replace.
  3. Hi. Agree with thommo- what is with you people- if you dont have the equipment its an easy decision- park your "racing car" until you have the correct equipment.
  4. Hi. The body plate doesnt look to be a nissan plate. Is it?
  5. Hi. Just read this item and you stated you did the compression test cold. You must do the test hot otherwise you will get low readings. If you havent done it hot do so. Maybe a sticky ring if you did it cold.
  6. Hi. If you have had the slave cykinder out of the car you must have the bleeder at the top. If you have it at the bottom you will never bleed it as air always goes to the highest point.
  7. Hi. Interesting posts not all (as usual) on topic. A number of stolen high performance cars (japanese) end up overseas. It is fairly easy to ship out of Australia cars in containers with little or no checking of the contents. Customs and federal police are more interested in what is coming into the country. Destination is usually Lebanon where the payment for the cars is drugs.
  8. Hi. Yes been through fast. I am of the opinion the information on identification codes previously posted with reference to the v series is not entirely correct and does not show information on all body plate codes. Would be good if somebody had access to all code details.
  9. Hi. I have been looking at the identification codes posted sometime ago and have some which are not on the post. My plate shows KBNR32XFSLMZG According to the post the following are: X=gtr F= 5 speed manual S= intercooler L= fog lights M=? Z & G or ZG=? As there is no number after XFS i assume it is a v spec1? Can anybody shed any light on what the 2 missing codes are please.
  10. Hi. What you need to do is take crank rods pistons to a machine shop who know what they are doing. Explain your situation to them re rebuilding in the short term and have them measure everything up and be guided by them- ask questions re honing and bore wear. Ive seen much worse pistons used succesfully in the past.
  11. Hi. The dellorto and weber are a fixed jet carby so relatively easy to maintain. If they are dirty and you are not sure of doing the job remember they are two identical barrels so take out the jets on one side and you still have the other side for reference. These carbys are not hard to work on.. One point to think about the Dellorto is no longer made . . If you are not confident take them to the man mentioned above.
  12. Hi. If the engine normally takes 4.5 litres without the cooler put 5 litres in it and start it up. Little idle turn off check the level. Top up if required or am i missing something here?
  13. Hi. The oil companies and resellers do source refined fuel from overseas mainly Indonesia because it is cheaper and usually this fuel is not refined to the same standards as fuel refined here. The oil companies will assure the public this fuel is put through their processes here to bring it up to the standards required. We can only believe them.
  14. Hi. Can you explain what exactly has happened. Have you broken the key-damaged the keyway. If you havent damaged the crank you will be able to make it like new without replacing the crank. Let us know what is damaged.
  15. Hi. This is a very interesring read aren't people stupid. I had a fellow blow his horn at me one day and wave his fist- very theatrical ( he was following me). At the next set of lights i received more melody from his horn. Lights turned green i eased away and immediately pulled over and he past i pulled out behind him- the "hunted" became the "hunter". Funny how they realise this may not be a situation to their advantage. He took of through the traffic changing lanes no indicators obviously to get away from me. I wasn't in the slightest bit interested as i wanted to get somewhere to be with somebody. hmmm.
  16. Hi. Check your brake fluid level as when it is low the handbrake warning light comes on.
  17. Hi. It looks like number 3 main webbing is cracked on both sides.
  18. Hi. That was an interesting comment regarding the steering lock required at the "circuit". I think the people who run our "cutting edge" technology touring car teams let themselves down badly as they didnt have enough steering lock on their cars. The accidents mostly involved relatively slow speeds with cars not even trying to do anything as they couldnt- sequential gearboxes great at speed hopeless at low speeds(inability to select 1st gear from say 3rd instantly)- no steering lock to take evasive action. To me this made most of the "stars" look pretty ordinary.
  19. Hi. Is this car engineered and registered. I assume it is not as no rollbar. How does the soft top work with no rollbar to hold it up. Is it a japanese import?- might explain no rollbar.
  20. Kristian. Do you want to look at cars coming up for auction and condition reports? If so send me a pm. Terry
  21. The site which we used to use up until 09/2008 was amayama- they dont appear to be active now. Look them up on google at one stage used to show a photo of car. Was a great way of finding out if your broker or whoever was acting for you to purchase at auctions was being honest- no none of them were. Example- bid 1m yen you got it for 1m yen then find out it sold for 700000 yen plus their fee of 100,000 yen an extra 200,00 yen to them. Just a game which you play. If you can buy it here and look at it-touch it-drive it and the price is reasonable after doing some research why pay two commissions to a broker here and their agent in japan who actually buys the car and organises shipping (usually 100,000 yen which is ok as he does 95% of work) Just a little advice as the two commissions have just added a minimum $2k to your dream car,
