  1. Hi. The best way to stop a squealing belt is chalk. Chalk powder is ideal if not get a stick of chalk rub on sandpaper sprinkle the dust on the belt and if you still have a squeal it needs tensioning correctly. You dont need expensive sprays an lubes.
  2. Hi again. Sorry but important. Only cut the pipi ( oops italian again) pipe along its length on one half not cut it into 2 pieces.
  3. Hi. You can do this yourself if you have a hacksaw. Take the bolt to somebody that sells copper pipe.(Bunnings?) You want pipe that it inside diameter is 12mm- the outside of 14mm is ideal however if it is say 15mm all is not lost. If 15mm cut the pipe along its length only 1 cut. Then cut to size required to fit in whatever it is tap in carefully( use a copper drift, rubber hammer or a soft piece of wood) . As you tap in it closes up and becomes 14mm. Dont worry about it being copper as it is only a locating insert. Hope this helps
  4. Hi. Has your brake fluid level dropped. If it has the brake booster is leaking internally and brake fluid is being sucked into the manifold through the vacuum line and burns white. May not be the problem but worth checking.
  5. Hi. I have this sticker on a set of wheels and am keen to know what it is in english. Thanks.
  6. Hi. The car which will out perform and outbrake and more importantly costs a lot less than the "pretty" cars shown so far is the Ultima. What a weapon for the price.
  7. Hi. Great DIY write up. Couple of points. I would have used brasso first which would have given you the same as your final result. If you have to use 2000 paper soak it in brasso before use. I would not use 1500 paper to abrasive for perspex or whatever it is. If you try brasso always thoroughly shake container before use.
  8. Hi. Put a new fuel filter in it.
  9. Nice to see two younger members on the forum named Terry and Clive. Just reading these posts looking at the ages and thought they could be my grand children..........Hmm. I'm nearly 64 or as i like to think 46 Yes Terry they were the days it is a shame we and the younger generation will never see that wonderful world we had.
  10. Hi. Try very hot water with a squirt of washing up detergent- you will need rubber gloves and sponge- rub it on hose off straight away. Should move it.
  11. Hi. Package them up describe them as suspension parts and get them sent by sea. Have bought lots of suspension sets in the past with no problems.
  12. Hi. I presume you are discussing the outside of the covers if so dont waste your money buying overpriced products. Simply go to the supermarket buy a tin of Brasso take it home give it a good shake pour onto cloth start rubbing. You may be very surprised at the result. Sometimes the old products are the best. Let us know the results if you try it.
  13. Just a little modification on crankshaft keys. If you have access to a machine shop who know what they are doing you can machine the groove in the balancer wider and have keys made to suit the wider groove without machining the crank. This is procedure is usually used if you want to save a balancer which has become loose or perhaps beef up this area of the engine. The key(s) will usually damage the balancer as they are designed to do if incorrectly installed (tool steel- key cast iron factory- balancer) takes a lot to break or wear a key if correctly installed and torqued down to correct specifications. If you have a loose balancer always remove the key and check the fit in the balancer you will usually find the groove is not to specifications.
  14. Hi. The damage on your crank snout looks like fretting and was probably caused by your original balancer being loose. The small bits missing are definately signs of fretting. If damage was caused removing it the marks would be along the nose not around it. The grove around the nose may have been caused by the swarf generated by the fretting however you have to have a broken key (s) to cause this. Damage could been there for years from its Japan days. Just dress it up and reuse it ive seen worse. As Richard stated the balancer uses the snout to locate it the keyways do all the work Some advise obtain new keys.
  15. Although you have checked when you turn the engine off you may be leaking water from one of the hoses under the plenum. We have a problem with an rb26 where it doesnt leak when driving however approx 3-4 minutes after switching off we get a leak- not much it would seem to be coming from a line and the leak is dependant on the radiator pressure (as the pressure drops it leaks). Get some cardboard and when you next stop slide it under the engine you may have a similar problem.
  16. Hi again. I would either although i do prefer my suede lined mitt. Once i have it on dont like to take it off
  17. Hi. I have been using www.isicar.com for car auction and yahoo purchases for many years. You can look at cars coming up for auction each day and yahoo is in english. The only thing is you must have money in your account with them before bidding. Have a look they are lovely people to deal with. Have never had an issue with them. One more thing to consider an Australian buying site cannot buy direct from the japanese seller as most sellers state will not ship overseas so there would be a middleman in Japan buying for the overseas operation- result two fees- Japan and overseas operation. With isibike you only deal with them.
  18. Hi. We have on the forums been through this problem before. It is most probably from the trees you park under. Tree sap is a type of wax which is difficult to remove with solvent cleaners. Go to the kitchen and under the sink get the bottle of washing up detergent and a pair of rubber gloves . Boil water add detergent and apply (water must be hot) then hose off immediately. This always works for me and no it will not hurt your paint and will save you money.
  19. Hi. Perhaps you should remove the sump plug and let some oil drain out until you have the right level.
  20. Hello. Can you please give me the details for BNR32 008455
  21. Hi. If your cvs are noisy and you are having trouble sourcing replacements do as we have done for a very long time. Reverse them left to right and right to left. Cvs wear on the thrust side (going forward) and usually have minimum wear on the reverse(going backwards) This may be of some help and may save you money. regards.
  22. Reading this post about white smoke made me think of something a lot of people may not know. That is if your brake master cylinder has to be topped up regularly and there is no obvious leak it may be your brake booster. As the booster is powered by vacuum from the intake manifold the vacuum tank can leak internally and brake fluid is sucked into the inlet manifold-the result is white smoke.
