  1. you do realise that colour only appears on R34's from factory, never seen an r33 in it... and oops thats champagne gold...
  2. Yep, window tinting film is a good material to use for this as you can easily choose the tint level then you can use a good quality vinyl of any colour to do and logo or writing that is visible on the outside (window tinting goes on the inside, graphics on the outside), even the cheaper tinting films are fairly good, its not easy stuff to handle in large areas, but your requirement should be easy for you. The hardest part will be getting it straight on the window. I'm yet to see fading window tint that goes to clear, but even if it does you will be left with a clear edge that personally I would find annoying, cutting a design in window tint film would be annoying to install as well as window tint films don't usually have a backing paper, you could use one I guess though. I have tinted windows myself before and its not hard to do once you get your technique right, most films have good instructions to follow, just don't get frustrated on your first attempt, it is a very thin and easily kinkable film, which is not the case with vinyl graphic films. I don't normally do windscreen graphics only because I don't find a big call for them. I mostly do entire custom themes. But I would be glad to do a design for you.
  3. Front windscreen stickers, basically any decent sign sign can help you with that but, fading from black to clear will need to be thought about as you cannot actually get black fading to clear without either printing black on clear with a gradient to nothing, (that will leave you with a clear sticker line across the windshield highly unnattractive and printing black on clear won't look good and won't competely block light and will be patchy or streaky due to digital printing) or What I would do would be to create a gradient out of a shape, normally peoople would use a circle (dot) which would get smaller and smaller until nothing is left, if you can visualise that a coarse gradient (there is a limit to how small these circles or dots can be though), I would be tempted to use a custom shape, if you watch V8 super cars they use jet fighter shapes repeatedly reversed out of vinyl across their windscreens, this gives them some visibility but blocks some sunlight. Legalities suck... cause I've heard that basically any non factoiry sticker over 20mm in height can be seen as illegal, although I have only heard of them enforcing this rule on P platers who tick them off, I wouldn't worry about the legalities as if they try get you for it just rip it off in front of them, no sticker no issue as far as I'm concerned, but I have covered complete rear screens and had no issues, yet put on a P plate and a small SAU url sticker on the back screen and you could cop a cops attitude... go figure... also keep in mind the curve of the windscreen when getting one done as it changes the design slightly... a transparent black can be done but not fading to clear.
  4. spray can, you gotta be kinding surely... sorry I reckon that will look as cheap and tacky as it sounds... I just don't cheap or tacky I'm afraid... nor do graphics or anything have to be subtle to look good, its all in the way its done, but it does as always come down to personal opinion.
  5. thats interesting to know....
  6. Well your right gold doesn't tarnish but gold plating does as is what I stated... Gold plating is difficult to clean as electroplating will come off if your clean it incorrectly... Gold spray paint? gees that would look classy and unless you did it really well or got it done professionall I can't see it being very permanent. Unless you got them all gold plated (which would come up shiny chrome like gold) which I believe is hard to find people to do in Aust, best place to get gold plating on plastic is in china...
  7. well I thought that the gearbox is not changing the gear stick is so unless I'm missing something I assumed that it would just be shorter, please someone enlighten me. There arn't any new moving parts added with the replacement stick so I don't see how it would change the throw without just being shorter.
  8. Yep they arn't shorter that was my experience, so I didn't bother, at least I got if for only $20, so it too bad, I'll sell it off to someone I guess... obviously not an SAUer...
  9. hey yeah I forgot about that one, my alloy one heats up pretty bad, and gold is easier to heat up than alloy I believe (please someone correct me if I'm wrong). I can't imagine it will be easy to do, using the gold that is on a gear knob. You could always use the gold heat reflective wrap they use on engine parts, wrap all of your FMIC piping and engine bay bits, that way you have a theme happening... It could look (although i'm not into it at all) if done right I guess... Just don't put flashy leds in it as well...
  10. from a design point of view wouldn't you need some fluffy dice or shag pile on the dash to go with it... you know like the pimp look... oh wait they call it DUB now don't they... OK but in all seriousness - I think you would definitely need something to match it in with the rest of the car. say gold rims or gold dash surround or gold handbrake handle, it would need something or it will just look like another stick-on that matches nothing else... An also think about the fact your going to have your hand on it all the time (no pun intended) and gold plating tarnishes so wouldn't you end up ith a green nob (again no pun intended), you would have to keep polishing it all the time...
  11. go for a good high contrast racing colour, bright orange or green or something then get a subtle graphic with the same colour along with a black or silver to match... or paint wing mirrors to match... Have you got a good side on photo, I'd do some up for you if you like, not car graphics just some rim and body colouring, not trying to make a sale here... I just like seeing cars out there with a bit of style and personality... it doesn't have to be much but it does have to be decent not cheap lookin.. Then you can have a unique looking car rather than just your very average bronze rims.. I wouldn't do white as they dirty and I have found some brake dust if not clean off regularly can actually stain the white
  12. well I can understand him, just don't have any suggestions of help that haven't been covered...
  13. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought to polish alloy rims you will either be forever polishing them (cause they corrode easily and stain) unless you clear coat them and I haven't see a clear coat on alloys that either lasts or looks any good... You could I think get them chromed but I think you will be lookin at some cash once you do the powder coat then the chrome along with blasting. Alternatively you can get a silver metallic powdercoat, I haven't seen chrome powdercoat but I have heard of it, talk to craved on these forums, he knows his powdercoat and does it professionally... But don't think you can get away with polishing the raw alloy as my experience with it is you'll be forever cleaning and polishing them.... it will suck just like polishing cam covers, its just not worth it in my opinion, I would get everything powdercoated if I could afford it... I've just done similar things with my new rims, but I did just one colour.
  14. definitely powdercoat...
  15. bride rails all the way... solid, work good, straight bolt in of course, worth the money... $200 for a full bucket seat, you'll get what you pay I guess, considering decent ones are $800 plus
  16. I've used import monster, they're ok, delivery went fine, took a tad longer than expected but it did arrive itact. you may be able to get better shipping prices though through others....
  17. their huge offsets for a gtst, let me guess you got em cheap... did you want to widebody your 33?
  18. yeah do it yourself, just be sure to seat them properly in the rubbers... you need spring compressors ($30)... If your lowering your car remember that you will probably need an alignment so if your unsure about your install get them to have a look while their at it... but its a pretty straight forward hardware change. just annoying to do especially by yourself, two people would make it quicker.
  19. very mild soapy water on window tint only I wouldn't trust anyhting else, especially if you don't know what quality tinting film you have.. +1 for newspaper and vinegar... Although after washing my car I usually stop by the servo and use their paper towels and if your careful you don't get the lint effect...
  20. has it been rebuilt at all? What year 33 is it from? Hom Many Ks on it? Where did you get it from?
  21. modicoat perhaps. looks great, I don't know how it would stand up to the environment, stones and bugs, I've only ever seen it on interior pieces.
  22. I have cut nismo stickers in red and black about 8-10cm long... Can go smaller still...
  23. sounds like a great idea...
  24. Why are you drawing in Photoshop...? You should be using illustrator, more precise, not resolution dependent, smaller file sizes, easier to draw, better result... Then you can convert it to photoshop if you really have to later... I usually draw everything in illustrator, I don't find a need to use photoshop for any part of it, even show shading or reflections are done in illustrator... Photoshop sux for drawing
