  1. Ive got a 2005 Navara Turbo Diesel D40, I think your right in thinking you only hear the bad stories and every car model will have one... I was tossing up between the D22 & D40 at the time, both diesel, I preferred the 6 speed box and 2.5ltr engine for economy and also I think the power is up from the 3ltr, but then again alot of the 4x4 guys love the d22 for the down low torque of the 3ltr, as the 2.5 needs to be on boost to really get up and go, oh and it does. 1.85T is fun to drive around and yes you do feel like a truck driver compared to normal sedan drivers, and Ive never been a 4x4 or diesel driver, but now Im loving it... I regularly get 10.1 ltrs per 100Ks, I reckon thats good for the amount of weight Im haulin. Things to look for, worn rotors, get one with a good service log book, look underneath for signs of a hard off road life Keep in mind too that the canopies and hard tonneau covers wont fit that tray, so if you want a hard cover go the STR, I have the RX D40 and am looking for a STX tub so I can put a hard cover or canopy on it. I towed a ute on a car trailer 4.5hrs south to drop it off I did the round trip (970Ks) on $135 of fuel, thats hauling 1.2T of car and trailer plus the 1.85T of 4x4 and it did it easily, 120Kph on freeway no problems, now Im planning to take it way out west for a desert holiday... Just make sure the modification bug doesnt bite you, 4x4 and diesel upgrades are many... Im trying so hard to keep it standard As a comparison I was looking at diesel STR D22s with 98,000 Ks 2004 for $19-$21K... thats in Sydney
  2. I wouldnt think it would be cast? Is it a split dump???
  3. Yep these are definitely light rims, perfect size and offsets too for 33 gtst too... nice...
  4. And thenhow do you keep them shiny?? I found they need alot of work to keep them that way, any advice?
  5. thanks for all the info guys...
  6. security screen doors & flyscreen company... they have a variety of stainless steel mesh in different mesh sizes, wont rust, but you will need a cutting disc on an angle grinder to cut it and a folding press to fold the edges over, but its tough as...
  7. thats sounds nice, would love to see a parts list and finished product... oh how about a tutorial even...
  8. location? Colour? Price on coil pack loom?
  9. if only it was in sydney...
  10. Yep all good reasons to own a RWD skyline... AWD is for people that cant control their right foot....and of course RWD is more fun...
  11. Ive had my 33 with some pretty full on graphics on it and never had any police attention caused by the look of it, this is with vented bonnet after market wheels lowered, , sparco race seat, 3in exhaust (not a quiet one either) all of which are things that can get noticed... Im not exactly low profile driver either, definitely not a sleeper look... so maybe its something else that is attracting the cops to other modified car drivers... I reckon go for what you like best...
  12. really dont bother? not alot of gain to be had? you can get the poncams from RHD japan for $820 approx from memory
  13. the Hasepro product looks better in its raw form, better, cheaper I guess its still all subjective... And Hasepro specialises in car application rather than 3M being a "we'll try to do anything" company...
  14. check this stuff out, notice there is one for interior use and one for exterior use: Interior Exterior The way this film stretches will make going around corners alot easier than a non stretch film Im still not a fan though... real is real, fake is fake...
  15. keep in mind that you can post online on the auto wreckers part request sites (eg. www.carsparefinder.com.au) Wreckers are quite happy to post parts to you... I put a request in for a D40 tailgate and got a reply from three wreckers from all over the country the very next day...
  16. but in saying that if you want to do it, you only live once, do it...
  17. have a check around at some wreckers any one with a shot rb25 or wrecked 33 will have one... you know where it is? from memory its just above the top radiator pipe where it connects to engine... electrical plug goes straight down into it, its sitting right up on top, the easiest sensor to get to. be sure when replacing it you top up the coolant when you screw it back in to avoid getting an air bubbble in your cooling system...
  18. did you recently wash the engine? water can eventually stuff the sensor I reckon... if the error is for the coolant temp sensor try replacing the sensor, I had an intermittent issue with coolant temp sensor, where eventually the car would not start replaced the sensor and everything was fine, sensor cost $20 from Phat lavish on here who sometimes (actually quite alot) strips cars down for part selling...
  19. Lets give it maybe 6 months and see how it looks then... I hope its does stand the test of time for you, I just have my doubts...
  20. using any printed vinyl like those B-pillar nismo stickers will always fade badly if you leave the car in daylight alot... If this stuff has a texture to it I can imagine using it externally it could collect dirt and grime and be annoying to when washing the car... real carbon fibre items are the only way to have a long lasting trouble free reality...
  21. it kinda looks like wallpaper without the real carbon gloss look... doesnt look too bad but Id like too see what happens after a few months, especially if it gets parked in the sun a few times on hot days...
  22. would be interesting to see the results of your efforts, some more after shots would be good too...
  23. PM some pics if still for sale. thankyou..
