  3. as the title says. when does the rb25de or det inlet manifold start to hinder power development, not when it stops the car making power but when does it start to become a restriction or hindrance. so if you replaced it with a aftermarket 1 at the same power figure would u get a noticeable gain in power or torque or would u just make more power with the sacrifice of low down torque. ive hurd of plenty or rb engines doing remarkable things with standard parts and have nothing against the ppl who are doing it but are there gains to be had by changing them also what plenum capacity are the g-reddy plenums to suit rb25det's. are they more suited to track/ street duties or are they ok for drag applications. im in the process of building a rb25/30 hybrid with cams t04z forged bottom end ect, (and im not dreaming of doing it like some ppl do, this is happening as i have the parts) and am undecided on the plenum to put on the thing. there are alot of good plenums around and alot are advertised on Calais turbo giving good results on paper, but i dont wanna risk leaning out a cylinder or 2 by using a plenum that isnt correct. 1 of brescianis customer r33 skylines with what i believe its 1 of there custom plenums on it is running 10's so there plenum obviously works on the strip... u get the drift anyway choices choices. any feedback advice will be great and hopefully steer me in the correct direction.
  4. just because cars make 300 rwkw on the standard manifold doesnt mean squat. listen to yourself's ppl its like saying a un ported head is beter than 1 that has been done to the max because so and so's can made 400 rwkw with it. im sure it would help the car by puting the ported head on. ive hurd of and seen vl turbo's make 10 more rwkw and have a much beter midrange just by changing the head. not that the std head was an issue 242 rwkw on std head and 253 rwkw on a ported head. only 9 more kw but it all halps. same as your exhaust manifold. shit log design shit everything. On a car making 250 rwkw id expect to c a healthy midrange increase and a litle bit up top too
  5. wait till u get it tuned stocky then u will have traction issues. ive owned and had the plesure to drive quite a few high powered v8 and turbo cars and its not a fun fealing when a big turbo comes on in 3rd or ya hit a bump or something on a upshift in the monro and it skips strait sideways not a fun thing when your doing over 100, or even thinkin it will be a great idea in the vl to go back to 3rd to overtake in the rain at 100 kmhr not fun at all.
  6. no hint of it loosing traction in 3rd as u are sudjesting it would have instantly pulled more than 5000 rpm and there was no hint of movement in the stering wheel. with light switch power deliverys 1nce they are on they are on and especialy when u get wheelspin they instantly find the lost of traction and exploit it.

  11. zoom did a test on this theroy and made no more power with cold fuel. thats all, i wouldnt waist my time trying to make the fuel cold, just get rid of the heating through the intake manifold and reap the 0 diference. it mite make a small diference but im sure that it will make no diference
  12. 15 pages and no pics of broken conrods or holes in blocks. im impresed. i have a rb30 (n/a convert) on std management and injectors (vl t bits) with meth injection making 253 rwkw witch is a fair achevment in my books now yours is more of an achevement but i dont have the abiliuty to tune mine as i have no dyno. ive been slowly steping up the power to the curent level and now have got the shits sold the thing and am going twin cam head, hope to get 400 hp out of the thing or ill cry. good job lad. at least u setled down abit and arnt as angry now
  13. so what turbo would be beter on a rb25/30 a, gt 35r .82 or a gt 35/40 .86 (i think) im chasing 350 rwkw or so and am leaning towards the 35r but im a bit unsure. what are ppls experiances with them. i know that off boost responce will suffer abit but this is not an issue, has any1 else got either of these turbos on there cars and what results do u have, like what revs do they spool and what inlet manifold are u using with them does any1 have a g-ready plenmum with either of these tubos, and if they do did they notice any diference in spool time between the std long runner inlet manifold and the short g-redy1. thanks
  14. so do u think that tomei pon cams cams are able to be mixed and matched. like c ould u run 256 on inlet and 260-272 or so on the exhaust and still have it work. would it give more responce or would it just suck hole. i think that runing more duration on the exhaust promoting more scavaging and helping the turbo spool up would be a good thing. inlet would be cool with that cos u have boost shoving air in so i dont c a masive duration 100% nesacary also with tomei pon cams u would just have to re shim to suit valve clearence or whatever to install it wouldnt u? there would be no need to replace lifters or anything. just re shim the thing. this is on a rb25 . (i didnt c the point in starting a new thread)
  15. i got 253 rwkw out of a converted rb30 e-t with monsta turbo gear and a 2 mm copper head gasket its got plenty left in the motor just fuel is becoming an issue. rising rate reg on std vlt injectors and plenty of methanol, its also on avgas. and its manual

  17. now ive beer reading this thread for about 3 months and looking at what u have been doing. i have a vlt with 250 rwkw just a rb30et and a r31 with a rb25de 119.7rwkw i did all the work my self.i have another rb25de coming from just jap and was wondering ifd its worth the hastle of converting to dohc for my vl. like how easy is it to make lotsa power cos i would want more than 300 rwkw due to the power my curent setup. now is is posible with na cams? also if i replace the cams do i just have to replace just the shims.what lifts do u get and what kind of overlap do u have with the tommi camshafts. my vlt is fairly lumpy and i like the sound of a engine that has afair duration camshafts, i know the vvt wil be a issue but is there anyway around this.
  18. remove the rb 30 and put in a rb25de or det my 31 has a rb25 de and made 120 rwkw stock the other day not much to look at but made good power for a stocky

Entry into the Show n Shine will be $5 on top of your entry into the venue. Passengers will be allowed on solo passes only. Street bikes will not need full leathers. Helmets will be available on the day if you don’t have one.
