Master replied to two40's topic in General Automotive Discussion
96 R33 GTSt 26 yr old male Hi Just wanted to say a big Thank u to Chris from Shannons. I was goin with Just car to insure my R33 GTSt, until i stumbled upon this thread! My premium is under the 1000 dollar mark and he was a pleasure to deal with. Cheers. -

Greetings all, here is the current love of my life. Another happy Mark Hocking customer here! Gets registered on the 24th(Thursday). I have never been on a blind date but id imagine the feeling would be similar to what i felt as i drove upto the workshop to see her for the first time in real. -
Quite a few posts on NSK alternatives for those exp tensioner/idler bearings. Anyway im very interested if its all goin to happen within the next 4 weeks. My car is prob 3 weeks away from being complied/registered. cheers.

Hi Noy, from what i remember you guys do vac bag ur lay-ups?? If this is the case, dunno if u do know or not but there is a new pre preg out that is resin impregnated from one side and dry on the other, Good to use if u do not have an autoclave. Just vac bag and chuck into an oven.. Resin system is a VTM type so cure temps can be anything from 60-110 degree C. I saw a sample part made from it today and the finish was really good (mold did not have a gel coat). If u do not know about it then get onto the usual suspects...(Lavender/advanced comp). Could be usefull for the stuff that you guys make n would be shit loads easier to lay up as comapred to a wet lay up. cheers.

well i dunno about being cautious, i was ultra agressive when i was in India this Jan, my brother gave me great advice before my first drive, said just treat it like a video game and go for the gaps... seemed to work fine!

I think being your own person and a test of character is what it comes down to. Follow ur heart... I understand what ur saying about the importance of fitting into that crowd, maybe the work car can be a boring expensive thing, n the GTR can be the make me feel alive and real on weekends car.
-
Trust me that is a rather quiet n calm clip, u ain't seen anything yet! Gets a little more interesting when you have an entire family on a bike/scooter. i.e Husband, wife and their 3 kids... The first thing to fail on most imported cars if they were'nt oirginally designed for India is the horn.

Not very hard at all, just a case of paying the right person. Incidentally its not uncommon to get honked at from behind if ur stationary at a set of lights when they are red and there is'nt much traffic flowing from the path that has the green light...

What Happens When The Water Pump...
Master replied to Andyn's topic in General Automotive Discussion
People that more the ECU set up well might be able to answer this one, its not uncommon for a temp compensation. ie. If the ECU sees rising temps, it will add more fuel in an attempt to reduce combustion temps. Also your oil is at a lower viscosity = less frictional resistance thats gotto add a few revs. Sometimes when things like this happen, it can be two totally separate things goin on. The most common cause of over heating IF everything else is all honky dory with ur water pump/ coolant/ fan/etc etc is the thermostat valve. Prone to get jammed with corrosion and hence just keeps recirculating water in the head circuit and not into the radiator. Easiest way to check this is to have the car upto operating temp and squeeze the top hose goin into the radiator, it should have pressure. On another note, not many people know this, but if ur on a border line with temp and ur unsure about it, wind down ur glass and turn on the heater. It acts like a radiator too. -
Just out of curiosity.... Do you guys launch the car loaded against the brakes? Also do you pick shift points off the torque curve?
-
Ur right i did get that one wrong..lol But with regards to JPM, ur very correct he just tells it like it is, i love the way Journalists try to get a bit of interesting TV happening.. n he just does not buy in. Imagine McLaren's PR group, they must be working soo hard for their money with JPM in one pit bay and Kimi in the other...haha. Gone are the days of the slick DC and Mika was a man of a few words but a little more media friendly than his countryman. Hats off to mark that way, he must be a sponsors dream. Its amazing how the drivers that are the face of the team can either make that fan following or shread it to bits.

Well i hate to admit it but if Pat Symmonds was not smoking something wierd yesterday, that prediction was spot on..

Just get urself some rubber grommets (i know wurth make em) no electrical tape, thats too tacky...
-
well this looks like prediction central so here goes.... Alonso Schumi JPM Sorry guys but its another DNF for Mark.

Problems When Switching To Other Combination Meter
Master replied to Saborion's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing...I hope for your sake u have not done much damage. Im sure someone out here will be able to point you in the right direction, however the fuse box ain't a bad place to start looking. All the best. -
Gees, dont hold back tell us what u really think...lol This Forum is both informative and entertaining.
-
All about packaging and saving some $$$$ in the process... There is a big push from all manufacturers to have even more integration between models...aka similar platforms. Just makes it cost effective.
-
Ahh yes id say thats a weight saving alright...Massive one.. Just wondering what other carbon bits u make? i Guess u guys use pre-preg with autoclave cures?
-
Completely agree with u, instead of changing to a race engine on a sat night like they use to, they just run round in pvt testing blowing engines and spending money there... But have to say it all adds to the craziness that got to me as a 14 year old and has been a huge part of my life ever since. This year when i heard the V8s at Albert Park my first impression was ....sounded like a V10 with a hint of a cracked header, that slightly rough note. Sad part for williams in all this is with Cosworth being great with V8's their gearbox/hydraulics issues are proving to cost the team major points. The minimal advantage they have in the engine dept will vanish very soon with cosworth not being able to match the major manufacturers throwing everything into their development programs..

Just wondering if uve ever seen them without that strip of paint? If i had a shmick carbon door i would not paint over it.... maybe that portion of the weave was not as crash hot? Anyway go for it, just be ware to do it very carefully once u get to the carbon. Probably a flat pneumatic sander with some 600 wet or dry to start with . once ur down to carbon go to 1200 wet/ then 2000 wet (if u want) followed by ur coat of clear.

This Is What Happens When You Get A Dealer Service
Master replied to Mr. Oizo's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Or he could just say ' Smyle ur on candid camera'.... -
HI neil, im not quite sure what exactly ur asking, because as far as i know, gel coats are used on moulds to get a bit more bling on ur part, so id say its a coat of clear that ud be after. If your going to sand back to the carbon you will have to go with a coat of clear. Might be a good idea to try a little section first and see how you go. out of curiosity id love to know what the weight diff is between the composite door and the standard metal..
-
Well seeing that everyone's at it i might add my 2 cent worth too!! In my very limited experience/knowledge, ideally what you want is the max dynamic head in ur air box and the coolest air temps, simply cause of the affects density V temp. From the bits n pieces ive read so far, it sounds like havin this new style filter would also increase the length of the sealed section of the intake (from the filter). So if its increasing the efficiency that u really want then increasing the length means great frictional losses through the system. Id have to say using something like a K&N filter in its normal location and feeding that with cold air is the way to go. That way ur length stays the same, you have a proven well tested product doing the job and your getting cold air fed to it.

Well its preety clear that you need to take the car to an EFI specialist. Who would first prob check fault codes, maybe look at the plugs...Just wondering Darrien do u know if the ECU will go into Clear flood mode n shut the injectors down completely at (WOT)wide open throttle (when cranking) Maybe its a case of too much fuel and opening the throttle helps. In anyway we can sit here n have stabs in the dark, does not mean much. Id also have a close look at ur TPS.
-
Hi Darrien, I presume this engine management set up would be similar to most others n put out a 5V signal on the coolant temp sensor circuit. Looking at the figures you quoted on resistance, id say the simplest thing for RJ to do is to unplug that coolant sensor so its open circuit... and start the car. Id imagine as a safe option they'd want the car to run rich rather than lean if for whatever reason you did have an open circuit = 0v to ECU.
