Sorry mate, but it won't be the last time someone younger than you knows something you don't, & it only happens more often the older we all get. I DID NOT say that I know more than you, just that maybe I know something you don't. I'm sure there are more than 1 or 2 things you could teach me too. Car's & driving just happen to be what I am most interested in outside work, so I do know a fair bit, but not to say I know everything, I don't & I know it. I can understand you being upset I know I would be too, I nearly cried when I crashed my car. I didn't get around to saying it before (it was getting a bit late last night), but I would like to commend you for trying your best at avoiding the accident even if it didn't turn out that well for you. However you may have avoided much worse injuries had you just done the old brain freeze & just hit the brakes & shunted the dumb woman in front of you, who clearly was driving too close to whoever was in front of her. After all, rear enders are one of the easiest crashes to have, which is why they happen so often. I am not singling you out as a problem driver, if that's the only/worst at fault crash you've had in 20 years of driving you must be doing something right. Apologies for upsetting you more. My message was intended for all not just you, please understand this is not a personal attack & don't make it into one. I hope you & your car make a speedy & painless recovery from this bad experience. I don't like hearing about anyone crashing & if this message gets through to just 1 person & prevents them making a big mistake then to me it was worth it. I hope you can eventually feel the same.

Sorry mate I think you've got me all wrong. I was not referring to situation where you get cut off will make comment now that the scenario you described that you made no mention of being cut off, if you were cut off then no I don't believe it was your fault. I that case unfortunantely a witness is you're only hope of having blame taken off of you, which is shit admittedly. Unfortunantely you don't have to be tailgating to be too close to the car in front of you & this is something many people don't seem to understand. Unfortunately you probably thought you were back far enough to safe & you'd be far from alone in that situation, I don't really blame you for not know that so much as the driver education system, people all too often don't know the limits of their car until they end up in an emergency situation &/or have never been taught how to handle it & this is wrong. I'm sure its not a good feeling having landed in that situation & you'll be more cautious than ever as a result & I'm not saying I for one will admit to having made a major driving error in the past. I underestimated loss of grip due to wet weather, didn't make it around the corner, hello light pole. Should have driven slower & should have got a wheel alignment too. A costly mistake, but lesson I will never forget. I screwed up & I'm not affraid to admit it. However if I'd learnt to drive my car better before going out on the open road it would never have happend. It wasn't a big crash, but enough to change the way I drive forever. I'd also like to make comment that just because I'm 10 years younger doesn't automatically mean I'm not as smart a driver as you. Knowledge is more important than age. I have been passionate about cars motorsport & driving in general from a very young age & was shocked at how easy it was to get your license in this country even before I got mine. I also otherwise have one of the cleanest driver records around with my only offence being one speeding fine in 8 years of driving, & then only because my speedo had been thrown out due to new wheels being slightly bigger. My father also has been employed as driver for over 30 years & never had an at fault accident, he taught me very well & taught me a lot more than any driving instructor ever will. I learnt nothing from mine & he was one of the better ones out there. I never called you stupid, that was you're own interpretation & self defensiveness kicking in, which I've seen so many times from who knows how many people I see it as normal, & hold nothing against you for that. I make no apology for my comments. And yes I do look in the mirrors for trucks as well as cars & am all too aware that they can't stop anywhere near as well, so I find it quite scary when one of these big suckers sits right up my crack. I try to get out of their way ASAP, it's just not worth the the pain & aggrovation as I'm sure you're all too well aware. I don't believe you're a bad driver, but don't think you know it all either, anyone who thinks they do is full of shit. In fact I think it's high time we all did an advanced driving course, myself included. Everyone has something to learn no matter how long they've been driving.

Hello Savage, I'd just like to point out that I do agree with Nightcrawler on this 1 as far as the potential rear ender situation is concerned. Having recently copped from behind itself in my 33, I am probably more inclined to comment than usual. Really I don't think that it's a very good excuse to sit closer to the car in front of you just because someone else may just jump in anyway. Just to make a point rear enders are generally considered 100% the fault of the driver behind unless the car in front had cut accross at the time it occurred. If someone does cut in front of you, back off & expand the gap again. This is personally how I drive in busy traffic if need be, & personally I'd rather these lunatics take someone else up the road rather than myself. Not everyone on the road drives like this, though sometimes it can seem like it. I absolutely hate it now whenever I get someone getting close to my tail & I make a point of staring down at them through my mirror with a distinct BACK OFF. I usually slow down to ensure I have a good braking buffer in front of me & so that I don't have to hit the picks suddenly & get shunted. So please do not take Nightcrawlers comments personally. I don't doubt that your previous ordeal was horrific & that you may otherwise be a good driver, but please don't use it as a way of shirking your responsibility on the road. This experience is something for you to learn from, if you ignore the fact you were too close to the other car you have learnt nothing, but if you do learn from it you will be a better driver for it & be less likely to have a crash when next presented with the same situation. This is an important message to all people that read this not just you. We say this only because we want our roads to be safer, something the government isn't really achieving. I hope you can understand that. Sorry to hear about your damage ImportS13 I hope it gets soughed out soon & looks better than ever. Cheers

R34 Coil Pack Problem (or Not Error Codes 26 And 43)
J_Red33 replied to mxtcy's topic in South Australia
No problems, appart from the odd flashing light show Ahh well if it really is as problem you'll find out eventually, but if it's not broken you can't fix it. -
I'd personally recommend who I took my car to. Wise Choice Tyres down at Londsdale. I've only got the stock suspension, but the guy that did my car spent an hour going over it making sure it was all ok, he took me with him for a short drive twice & talked about how he thought it was before making final adjustments. It didn't leave until he was satified, he adjusting camber settings & all. Was very impressed & it cost me only $50. They take great pride in their work. It had been to Bob Jane the same day after having already been there once only a few weeks earlier before the wheel alignment went right out. THEY ARE CRAP Wise Choice also have some of the best tyre prices around too (I've never been quoted a lower price anywhere else on ANY tyre they offer) & the guys there are very enthusiastic, they loved my car. Tell them you know the guy with the nice red skyline that was there only last week & they'll probably know who you're on about My 10c worth

Sounds like all had a good day, I had a big previous night out so wasn't really up for it. Went past there though on my way to a friends place out north & guess what, got pulled in for the (AHEM) RANDOM alcohol & drug test. The Pig controlling the traffic waited until the last moment to point me in, wasn't impressed & guess what the driver in front of me was in..... Yep another skyine. Meanwhile half a dozen druged up drivers probably snuck through in their crap boxes. Takes a while that damn drug test too. Had to wait something like 5 or 6 minutes just for that test!

Yeah pretty sure it works, confusing I know, but that's the way it's working at the moment. Not sure if it had anything to do with the factory central locking system as both the door wires did go to that. It has been removed so I'm thinking that's the reason.
-
I'm not sure this is completely the same problem, but I have an alarm installed that triggers on both doors which are on separate circuits, but the interior light no longer turns on when the passenger side door is opened. My car originally had the factory keyless entry. I'm guessing it's probably a bad idea to brigde the two door wires down at the kick panel. Is there possibly any other way I can overcome this problem? Was thinking maybe I need to link the interior light circuit to the passenger door switch via a diode, but I have no idea which wire the interior light trigger is. Any help here would be appreciated. I don't really want to take it back to the installer they were quite rough with my interior trim after commenting how 'Nice & clean' my interior was (GT AUTOSOUND, DON'T GO THERE! If you truely value your car).

Beware Of Two Suspicious Character In Silver Ef Falcon
J_Red33 replied to Giveitall's topic in South Australia
I've got a mate that works out there, said something about them last night to him. Said that he'd had them chased off the premesis a couple days ago by security, so they're known about & definantely up to no good. Maybe a bunch of us should sneek up on them with baseball bats in hand...... -
R34 Coil Pack Problem (or Not Error Codes 26 And 43)
J_Red33 replied to mxtcy's topic in South Australia
Yeah could even be just a dodgy connection if it's not faulting all the time. Or if it's the TPS & it's just slightly worn in a couple spots it may play up intermittently. Will be interested to see what they find -
I'll make sure I keep you on my buddies list for if I need to change some bushes . Is your currency cartons of beer or bottles of wine

R34 Coil Pack Problem (or Not Error Codes 26 And 43)
J_Red33 replied to mxtcy's topic in South Australia
It actually sounds to me like your throttle position sensor may be up the creek mate. The TPS is linked into the auto trans & traction control systems so there's a good chance that may be the problem. I'd be looking at other things first besides the coils if you are not having any problems with the way the engine is running. Does it go ok on full throttle both from low revs & on max boost? If it does I'm a bit doubtfull about it being coils. The TPS may even just need a slight adjustment. The turbo overboost could be attributed to the exhaust & front mount if the sensors maximum isn't very high. I'd say it's likely irrelivant to your problem. -
Well mine's a 97 model & it doesn't have ABS. Biggest issue with not having it I've found it braking in the wet, not so easy the water doesn't cover the road evenly (& lets face it very few roads are that regular) which is partly why I'm going to be putting some top grade tyres on this time round to help compensate. I've always been a pretty good under brakes, but I've got caught out once & that's enough for me. Any upgrade in performance to the car (well tuned suspension & brakes) as well as upgrading your skills is always going to be a great help. Having said that I still would like to fit ABS to mine, just for that extra peace of mind. No matter how high your skill, there is no replacement for something far more failsafe like ABS in my opinion.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
J_Red33 replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Well I'm now down to 2 tyres, either the Dunlops Sport Maxx or the Yokahama Advan V103. The only thing that concerns me about the Yokie's is that they may wear out a bit faster than the Dunlops, which I have read customer comments on being a long lasting tyre as well as being generally better than the GS-D3 Goodyears. There just isn't all that much information out there about the ADVAN's yet, being so new. While the Motor test does place the ADVAN's in front of the Dunlops, it's hardly a real comprehensive test with very minimal information. If only the next wheels test was sooner... -
As long as you don't thrash them I'll lend you a pair of mine for nix mate. I owe ya 1

I have trouble in the colder weather with overboosting on the standard solenoid boost control once over 5000 rpm, when it boosts too high it's does the rich & retard trick & it backfires due to overfueling too. I the hot stuff when it's warmer it's ok. I didn't have an issue until my exhaust system was fitted. Going to be getting an EBC soon
-
The main reason they probably have trouble that the top end is to do with the fact that there is no pressure after the injector valve once it is removed. The valve itself is not designed to have the full pressure drop across it. Having the plate there actually means there is still some pressure after the valve & also makes it easier for it to close off again. Rough idle would have to be one of the most common complaints I had for injectors that were sent in & found to have poor spray patterns. Had many very happy customers after diagnosing that fault .
-
I actually haven't got them yet. But I'm going to get stinger battery terminals. Was going to to for the type which has a plate covering the terminal, but I tried a hacked looking one that I was given to make sure it fits on the terminal properly & it's no good, so going to get the conventional open top type instead.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
J_Red33 replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
^^^Never heard of them, who the hell are they & where are they from? Thanks for those comments guys. 1 of the tyre dealers really summed it up for me today. He said you're not gonna pick the wrong tyre because those three different tyres are all good. I guess I'll just have to think about it a bit more & keep reading others opinions. Gotta do something soon though. -
Thanks guys, actually went to Tonkins today the first place I thought would have them & they did, had already been to JB's & they had nothing but cheap shit. They really do look the goods. I managed to screw them down on the price by $7 a terminal too to $33 (for the type with top covers) since as I acted unsure about them. Got them on order.
-
My advice, take the injectors to be cleaned while still in the rail. Let them fully dissassemble it from there. They can be a tricky thing to get out without damaging them & they probably won't charge a lot more to do it if anything.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
J_Red33 replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ok done a bit more ringing around today & got an expanded list of tyres now which now comprises: Dunlop Sport Maxx (best quote $349) Goodyear F1 GS-D3 (best quote $385) Yokahama Advan V103 (best quote $372) I am actually now leaning away from the Dunlops as the Goodyears trumped them in tests done reacently by Car&Driver.com as well as winning the test. However the weighting of points was biased towards dry condition rather than both being treated evenly. The Advans also beat the Dunlops in the testing Motor did also quite convincingly, & were noted for giving a lot more feel for the road. This isn't gonna be an easy decision. -
^^Ahh I'm glad I haven't bought any yet. Where can you get these??
