  1. I may be gonna go, if I do I'll at least make a point of dropping in on you guys, just a matter of what some of my friends are doing.
  2. Yes it is possible it could take some time for it to happen, I couldn't actually say exactly how much it would take, but to me you're better off not doing it in the first place. The more you're fuel system gets exposed to the wrong chemicals the closer it is to failure. Less concentration will not have much of an effect, but do it regularly for a couple years & it would probably be a different story.
  3. Hope you plan to travel in the day time unlike my sis. She just came back from there in the early hours of the morning & hit a wombat. Front right corner is a bit of a mess. Hope everyone that's travelling has a safe christmas. Will just be at home with the folks myself eating & drinking. Nice easy day.
  4. A couple of sets of tyres to rate tyres sized 225/40/18 (front) 265/35/18 (rear): Yokahama S302 Dry: 7/10 Wet: 7/10 Wear: 8/10 Value: ~ 7/10 (they were on the wheels that I bought) Comments: Reasonable all round tyre good grip in the wet, could only break traction in 1st gear in the wet (though a bit easier once the exhaust was fitted making 177RWKW, this was also towards the end of the tyres life however). A little unpredictable though, don't have as much faith in the front end on them especially if they haven't warmend up & tail slides were equally sometimes quite sudden, not very progressive traction loss on the limit. Hankook K104 (rear only): Dry: 6/10 Wet: 5/10 Wear: 6/10? (not 100% sure yet, will update if there's any change in what I think) Value: 8/10 Comments: Nice & predicable tyre on the limit, I have a lot of faith in the rear of the car & knowing what it will do. Traction levels generally not as good as the Yokahama's however, breaking traction in second gear around corners or 3rd in the wet, is something that was previously impossible to do. Initial tread depth is also not as deep as the Yokahamas were so there's actually less tyre to wear out. I think I may be looking at dunlops to put on the front next, which will be happening within the next few weeks.
  5. So you just accept that you have to pay money now to watch T.V. too? No wonder this country is going down the tubes. People just keep bending over & taking the corporate shaft up the behind, it's pathetic & stupid. I for 1 will refuse to go to pay T.V. & to me it isn't exactly small change either. Hasn't anyone noticed that even since pay T.V. poped up on the scene that commercial stuff started to take a massive slide in quality? The reason this is happening is that corporations want to make more money (& lets face it Foxtel is far from the only 1 making money from this) & by making us pay for what we want to watch they make money from sponsors as well as us. Commecial T.V is feeling the pinch & as a consequence is having to try a lot harder to make it's money due to fewer viewers, hence the masses of ads that they have now & dumb shows like Australian Idol where they can adverstise to young impressional types that companies can make a fortune off of, & are will to pay to advertise throughout those shows. If the commercial channels were allowed multiple broadcasts & we all told foxtel to go get stuffed no one would have to pay a cent for T.V. that would have some ads but wouldn't be overloaded with them & I could live with that. The fact you guys all just willingly accept that foxtel is the way to go means you have all been sucked in & I think it's nothing short of disgraceful.
  6. A small amount like 500ml probably isn't going to have too much of an adverse affect. I'd say put it in when u know you're going to go through a tank of fuel in a fairly short time though. The longer it stays in your fuel system, the more time it has to do damage. I'd actually be most worried about what it may do to your fuel injectors & pump. If it starts to etch through the copper insulation on these bits, they're gonna short out & cause all soughts of problems, could even zap the injector outputs from the ECU if your not carefull. Also if other bits of fuel line do start to dissolve, the liquid goo will get into the injectors & cause all soughts of problems, which means throwing them away. I've seen a lot of this stuff happen as I used to do a lot of injector testing.
  7. Just set them to the standard height. If they're not coilovers it shouldn't be a problem.
  8. For me I like it because everything is easier to calculate with metric stuff. With imperial you have to use coefficients all the time to convert from 1 set of measurements to another, it's old fashioned & out of datem & absolutely mad to still be using it IMO. An example is converting CC's to Litres; divide by 1000, piece of cake. Now try & do the same thing converting cubic inches to Gallons....... This is only the tip of the iceburg when it comes to how logical the metric system is. The only reason we're not all metric with this stuff is the bloody YANKS & to a lesser degree the POMS, who still cling on to some imperial stuff. Just about every other country primarily uses metric now days.
  9. Yeah I hadn't even bothered to find that one out yet, good to know though. I actually like the fact the Japs use all metric measurement (although mmHg was a bit of an odd measurement for boost, thanks Nissan), it's less confusing, I'm just not used to it. Would be good if we all followed suit.
  10. What area are you in for a start mate? Hard to help ya find an auto-elec if we don't know what region you are in. There are a few sets of relays, some are next to the fuse box under the dash & there is another set with some fuses on the right hand side of the engine bay too. It could also be your switches on the stalk are faulty too, not sure on the likelyhood of this. Check out the maintenance section, I'm sure there's more info.
  11. Just to be an anus I'll clarify this 1 14.7 PSI is equal to 1 Atmosphere of pressure 14.5 PSI is equal to 1 Bar of pressure I used to think Atmosphere & Bar were the same like many other people probably do, but this is not the case.
  12. Bugger that's right near where I live. Will have to keep an eye out for that d#@$ head. I thought the rule was for the ride height to be legal the car only had to clear the ground by 10cm. Doesn't sound like you're anywhere near that low, though 30mm on the front would be down a bit I guess, but not rediculously so. Glad I haven't lowered mine. I want a Madaz Grandma
  13. Andrew it is then mate, I'll just keep that 1 up my sleeve for another Andrew if there's more than 1 of you . Awww missing the baby already, ahh well you'll get over it. I think I feel a sudden case of turbo failure coming on.... oh you need a new turbo? Oh bugger what you putting on? Oh big enough to blow away your S15 you just sold? Still missing it now?
  14. Damn thats a nasty problem Cubes sorry to hear. Well I got my car back tonight (and fixed in a deacent time frame YAY!) but I didn't get home until after 6. Was down having a drink with Mike Doyle for a while with his guys at the repair shop, good blokes down there.
  15. LOL I didn't think that sounded right, better redo your schedule Andy . I'll send you a PM in the next couple of days.
  16. Personally I'd say just get a working RB25 Engine & gearbox & stick the bugger in for now. You've then got a solid base to upgrade on later when you get the money rather than stick your neck out & get a loan. My 2c
  17. Interesting, I haven't got scuba gear, but I got the gear for snorkelling (Only just bought some flippers). As for the dates once interest is established (seems pretty close to done now) I will see what's available & then post up some dates with possibly another poll to work out the most popular date. I may consult Andrew (Nightcrawler) on this too since he seems to be pretty well up to speed on the accomodation side of things.
  18. The only turbo timer that I'd bother with is the Blitz Fully Automated or Dual Turbo timer. They are the only ones on the market that use boost sensing & running time to determine how long they have to time out for. A friend of mine installed it in his 200SX & it was great, if you were taking it easy it would shut off within 10 seconds, but if you'd been thrashing the crap out of it, the time would shoot up and then start counting down again straight away while you were on the move. I could time out as high as nearly a couple minutes just from hard driving. Handy if you need to take off in a hurry. Be warned though, they are illegal so make sure you hide it well but easily shut down too if the cops pull you over. As far as working with an immobiliser is concerned it depends on your system. A good immobiliser will actually detect went the timer shuts the engine off & then fully immobilise the engine so it can't be started again. A bad set up will just bypass the immobiliser, making it easy for theives.
  19. I wouldn't mind coming for a drive though it may be pretty damn busy. Would have to be friday for me, will only just have the car back.
  20. Would be pretty ineffiecient if it was creating less power with more boost just because of the turbo. I'd be surprised if this is the only reason.
  21. Maybe the one's I saw had it painted black then. Looked factory though.
  22. Are the cam covers black or bare alloy? S1 has black covers while S1.5/S2 have bare alloy covers. About the only obvious difference I can think of.
  23. There seems to be a bit of a pattern here, a lot of the guys that are quoting higher boost levels are actually seeing less power. This seems to indicate that possibly other things need to be changed for it to be worth while running the car at such high boost levels. I'm not saying this is conclusive, but there is such a thing as too much boost. I'd like to know what would happen with the same car with the boost wound down to more like 10 -12 psi. Perhaps the car is getting excessive knock or something? Also I'm not sure what pressure the intake valves can take before they start to have trouble shutting, I've heard that this can sometimes be an issue. Personally just from seeing cars on a dyno day, of the cars that were running high boost levels it was only the ones that were well soughted out that were pulling deacent figures, all others were dissapointed.
  24. I must have seen a few of you guys on the inner western suburbs at some stage. I work at Bowden & head south from there, home
  25. I've seen very few vinyls that I can look at for any more than a few seconds & then be turned off by them. They're for attention seekers only, just like 20-inch chomies you can damage on a pot hole & rearrage your internal organs with, ultra low body kits you can rip off on the first speed hump you can find, massive rear wings that just create drag rather than downforce & any other useless bling you can think off. To me a car is like a woman in so many ways, you wouldn't want to see a nice looking chick cake her face with rosy red blush & white foundation that makes her look more like a clown, why do it to a nice looking car??
