  1. I've never actually voted Liberal, & up until the last election I wouldn't have thought twice about it (didn't like a lot of their ideas then & still don't now). Now though it's getting tough for me to vote back in a party have grown heads fat enough to make an elephant blush. The tram line fiasco is another example. Most people said they didn't want it, so what do they do? Build the stinkin line anyway. It is not going to do anything that the buses couldn't, & buses don't permanently take up a lane the whole time. They really do not seem to give a sh#t anymore what people think. Did mean to bring my camera, was in a bit of a hurry when I left home myself. Annoyed because I wanted some photo's of this.
  2. Was a really good turnout, glad we went. One of the biggest points made was that SA already promotes 2 of the biggest motorsport events (the Clipsal 500 & the Classic Adelaide Rally) & somehow (according to the government) these events do not promote 'hoon driving', but building a state of the art facility with high levels of safety where members of the general public can burn off steam WITHOUT endangering members of the general public, is going to encourage people to do the same on the street. Double standards! The coverage on the news was still a bit dissapointing, I can see the only way the full message is going to get through to the general public is - as the Motoplex team said in the speaches - to get it into everyones heads ourselves. Telling friends, family, business assocites etc. Power is in numbers & we need as many as we can. The appalling road toll that we've had last year & so far this year just shows how bad thing have become. It also proves in general when it comes transport, the goverment has achieved nothing with it's current policies & it's about time it woke up to itself & started listening to people who actually know what the hell they are talking about! Lets keep the momentum building people, the harder we hit them before the election, the more difficult it will be for the Labor Party to keep towing the same worn out line.
  3. Would almost have to be a defective coil pack after only 5000kms for them to be the issue. What boost & spark plugs & gaps are you running? Do you have the original coil packs? I'd suggest you'd try these first if they worked ok when you removed them.
  4. Just FYI there is a place that does this & last I knew, they did it for less than $50.... although it may cost that much by now. The place is called Petro-Ject, located in Stepney (Ph: 81321622). They will do testing on individual coil packs & heat them up to full operating temperatures & under high load. The guy that does it all has being doing the same kind of work for something like 12 years now & knows his stuff. And just let them know that Jared sent you
  5. I'll be making my start at West Lakes seeing as I can walk & drive again , hope to run into a few familiar faces as well as meet a few new ones.
  6. Hey mate, I live not very far from you, am looking at possibly getting a replacement steering sensor (mounted just behind the wheel) How much would you ask for it? May have a look at what else you're selling if I could drop in.
  7. Wise Choice Tyres at Lonsdale is the go, took it to them and they spent a good hour going over my 'line after Bob Janes screwed it up TWICE and didn't even adjust the camber which was out. They were also cheaper than Bob Jane! The same guy has been doing alignments down there for years. I don't take it anywhere else for that kind of work.
  8. If you are talking a power capacitor running on 12V it's not going to harm you, just like a 12V battery won't zap you. Just make sure you don't have wet hands if you touch it or metal objects that could short out the terminals to each other or the chassis. Too fast a discharge at 12V is the biggest danger as it could blow up in you face literally if you aren't careful, not that I have actually heard of this happening myself. If you want to pull this appart I suggest you find out the best way to discharge it first, & then check it with a multimeter to ensure it's safe. If you are not confident seek professional help.
  9. This was one reason yes, & I was considering upgrading my amp from the crappy Cadence unit that rushed into the purchase of when I bought the car due to a hunger for some good audio. It was not a good install, I have almost completely re-routed and replaced all the cabling appart from the RCA leads (also candence brand) and the ignition feed to the head unit. The source of the noise is from the alternator as there was no noise with it disconnected when the engine is running. I did end up replacing the alternator as I did discover it was giving the occasional 3V spike (measured with a oscilloscope). Replacing it did improve the problem but didn't eliminate it. Other than the noise though admittedly the sound has actually improved with the new head unit so if I could cure this I'll blow my dough on an Intercooler kit instead . I do head down the southern suburbs a bit as I have family down there, so would appreciate a specialists opinion. I should also try pluging another speaker into the left rear connection just to see if that makes a difference as it doesn't matter what output is connected to the amp. Sorry if this seems a bit strange the way I am recalling all this stuff out of the blue. My ride was off the road for quite a while & only now am I getting back to the issues I was originally trying to fix. Thanks will keep it in mind if I decide to go down this path
  10. Have been here already, and didn't find much. Nothing in Australia anyway. Defeats the purpose of having the lead in the first place unfortunantly. I did omit to mention that one of the reasons I was looking into this was due to excessive noise in my system & thought if I upgrade to an optical setup I could eliminate one source of electrical noise. Having said that I have been doing a bit of research & with what testing I've done previously, I now suspect I may have a ground loop either to my antenna or my left rear speaker. After disconnecting the RCA leads to the Amp I still have noise on this speaker. Changing amps also does not cure the issue Thanks for the info may I ask what you mean by 'the link'? I was figuring I could just plug the Toslink lead straight from my head unit to the amp so I'm guessing I'm missing something here... This does somewhat surprise me considering most new home systems are going to digital one way or another, whether it be Toslink, Coaxial or HDMI & unsually all three on premium systems. Not to mention the parts in circuit for going full digital are no more expensive & sometimes work out cheaper. For what info I've been given. Will have to look into things further.
  11. Hi everyone, As per the question on the topic, does anybody know if a manufacturer makes an amp with an optical input? I have a JVC head unit I bought quite some time ago & have now installed to replace my dead Pioneer unit & found out after I purchased it that it has optical out. It seems strange to have this feature on the head unit but no manufacturer that makes an amp to take it including JVC themselves! Would make a lot of sense to get rid of all the bulky RCA leads & replace them with one smaller one that also happens to eliminate some sources of interferance & the possibility of ground loops. Cheers Jared
  12. If I can drive by then I'll be there for sure
  13. Couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunantely the time and place we live in places more emphasis on making money from defecting a slightly loud or low car rather than preventing real crimes from happening. Nowhere is safe.
  14. Given the reputation that this work shop has I dare say this is a one off mistake they won't allow to happen again. As has already been said at least they fixed it at no cost, can't complain too much in that case.
  15. Immobiliser is the only reason I'm lucky enough to still have my ride. If it weren't for that I probably wouldn't have seen it again, and insurance has saved me more than once, would never have a car without it, especially something desireable.
  16. Did live in the south up until last year, currently a westerner. Still more of the bad stories seem to come from up north than south. A friend of mine lived in an un-named northern suburb. Had the cop cars & choppers around his way all the time. Don't see it down south that often.... Didn't say it was a squeeky clean area. But there's pleanty worse, lived there most of my life & relative to other parts it's not that bad IMO. Having said all that how about we all move to the country (don't tell any gangs) hit the whole joint with a network of C4 and start anew. Would do wonders for our supposed housing crisis!
  17. Damn things are getting dodgier by the day around here. Hallett Cove's been fairly deacent that way in the past. Likely to be a couple of dodgy skaters in that spot. Sorry to hear
  18. Whoa where was is parked exactly? This is your own car you are talking about? Bit close to home, not cool
  19. Going to have to go see him myself I think. Have to get my exhaust realigned due to the flange on my first (faulty) dump pipe not being lined up correctly. After having had the cat back section already custom made it didn't line up with the replacement dump that was done right........
  20. Sorry guys. Don't know that I'll be making it. Having to keep my foot elevated to prevent excess swelling after the surgery and travel very short distances (doctors orders) for a few days. Spewing I won't be able to make it, but also looking forward to an ankle that hopefully works a bit better
  21. I'm pretty sure the problem with mine is to do with the steering sensor though not 100%. There was a blown track on the board when I opened it up. Put it back together again but no different, most likely a damaged component. Dies mainly when I'm just cruising along for no particular reason. May still be worth getting it diagnosed I dunno. But there was a lot of damage done at the column when it was broken into. Will have to see how much a replacement sensor is going to cost me.....
  22. Yeah would be great to catch up over a few, Just discoved my GF is going to be working from 12 till 4 so will depend on if she's willing to drop me off & pick me up. Will keep you updated going to have to be very nice the next few days since she's chauffering me to & from the hospital tomorrow too......
  23. Though I have considered a lock bar I'd rather just get it working for now, that & I don't mind it either. Know any good threads I can go read up on this or people to see? I've got nothing but time for the next week. Having some minor ankle surgery tomorrow so won't be doing any driving (or working ) but will have pleanty of time to read.
  24. Hey guys, had planned to make it again this year, but am very much tentative as to if I will go or not. Go in for surgery on my right ankle Thursday so it may be a push. Will do my best as my woman wants to go too.
  25. Hi guys, Well for what seems to have been an eternity of sundays doing repairs, the time has come for my 33 return from hibernation to re-enter the roads of SA. The car is by no means completely soughted out yet, biggest problem being that my HICAS now randomly spits the dummy, so no big drives on fast winding roads for a little while yet, but just to get behind the wheel of my pride & joy again feels great! Fingers crossed I've got a fair idea what's causing the problem & it should only be a trip to a wrecker away from being fixed. Hope to catch up with all you guys again soon. Cheers Jared
