Thanks guys, I remember why I joined SAU!! I have booked myself in with Nissan have this problem fixed next week after having the car of the road for ages, but thought I should try something else. Sure enough this trick worked. Had to do it a couple of times first time I got it to work it went from flashing fast to slow & then after the second attempt it went out all together Going to call Nissan tomorrow & tell them where to stick it (I spent over $3k in parts & they were still going to charge me $66 for 2 minutes work!) Cheers, Jared

Yeah I guess there's always people that can't make it. Still I think it's rude if people turn up unannounced if they've had sufficient time to say so, especially if tables are booked

I should be there tomorrow night, will also be bringing along my woman too now, so add one to the number count.

Saw this one on an Statesman today: SHTATOE Couldn't have given it a more appropriate name.

Fair call, I guess not all custom plates pull the wang out. Have never really had trouble with the cops myself, but one of the guys that use to be on here a fair bit (can't remember his name now, been a bloody long time) seemed to attract the cops quite a bit & he wasn't the type to misbehave. Maybe there's just too many Skylines on the road these days I dunno .

Totally agree. Custom plates on any sort of performance vehicle are a cop magnet. I liken custom plates to walking around with your junk hanging out. You may have a handsome face & a hot body, but that's not why people will remember you.....

Warren Wilson Mobile Auto Electrical is another guy you could try. Had a lot of dealings with his business from my time in the industry, knows his stuff.

I quite like some of the 'Anti-Autotheft Systems' this mob sell.... http://www.stickdeath.com/frameset.htm Bwahhahaaha!

Just did a little reading on this Race fixing. Seams a rather extrodinary, dangerous & not to mention potentially expensive way to fix a race, but then stranger things have happened. Especially when Alonso is involved...

Don't think I'd be looking at Piquet or Nakajima personally. Both have nearly as much experience off road as on... May be good test drivers, but don't rate either that high as racers. Kubica definantely deserves to have a seat, he has the greatest potential out of all of them.

Damn lucky. I had a lot more damage than that done without the car even going anywhere!

I did read a little while back that OCZ were bringing out a 3.5" version, which was going to be 2 x 2.5's sandwiched in one enclosure. Thought they looked pretty interesting. Don't think I'll be buying any for a good year though yet, just to many $$$. Prehaps when a couple of 60GB's get down to about $150 each I'll make the switch.

Did the car have an immobiliser? Only reason I've still got mine. Not good to hear just the same. Looked fairly neat.

Has been 18 months since I was out for a dinner last with the SAU crew, definantely interested. Provided it doesn't fall on the October long weekend I should be there & possibly my GF.

Don't find my Seagate drive to be loud at all. Noisiest drive I've ever had is my 80GB Western digital, in comparision, both Seagate drives I own are quiet as. Interesting & clean design that Silverstone case, but it looks like there's too much emphasis on sucking air out & not enough on blowing cool air in IMO. Can't beat the Lian-Li! By the way what are the SSD's going for now days? I'm not sure if I've missed something on the sites I've looked (only checked Allneeds & MSY), but it seems they're all selling only 2.5 inch drives. Is this what people are using in desktops or are there some 3.5's floating around as well?

Definantely like the look of this set up, but I agree the material is probably wrong. They look like a pretty smart setup, would like to use them on a whole heap of spots that the crappy plastic ones are. Do they make a version of these for thin panels? It looks like those need something fairly thick to lock into.

Hey guys, it's time I got into this side of things since I do electronics & am a bit of a super geek when I want to be. I built up my own system a few months back consisting of the following: Intel core i7 920 (overclocked to 3.2GHz) Gigabyte EX58-UD5 motherboard 3x2GB GSkill PI 1600MHz RAM HIS 4870 ICEQ4 Turbo Lian-Li Silent Force 850W power supply Lian-Li PC-P60 Gaming tower 1TB Seagate Barracuda HDD Samsung 2494HS monitor Logitec G15 Keyboard & G9 Mouse Logitec Surround Sound I built this system to be as quiet as possible & for the large part I achieved that. It looks pretty sweet too. The graphics card can make a bit of noise when gaming, but normally you can't hear it for all the other loud noises going on. Obviously there's a lot of upgrading that can be done with this system, but first I'll probably set up 2 HDD's in RAID 0. I like the idea of SSD's, but I would like to spend some money on the car too! I've also found that even with a good overclock DirectX 10.1 Games can be quite taxing on the system so I am also thinking about getting a second card to run Crossfire when my card gets a bit cheaper unless ATI or Nvidia come out with a ground breaking replacement in the near future. I'd also kill for a G25 wheel so I can start playing racing games. Tried on a friends computer & loved it

The idea of the vacuum line to the pressure regulator is to maintain a constant pressure difference across the fuel injectors from the fuel rail to the inlet. This is done so that the fuel flow is the same regardless of the level of vacuum or boost pressure therefore allowing the ECU to easily calculate the correct amount of time to keep each injector open for optimum fuel air mixture. If like it seems you are saying, the pressure regulator has no vacuum connection to the plenum, then your car is going to be running very rich under vacuum & very lean at full boost. Get this fixed ASAP unless you feel like spending big money on a new engine soon.....

Yeah has been way too long mate, last time I would have seen a number of people was at the Mawson Lakes Hotel. My line got broken into a couple weeks after that gathering. They're not that too far away from me, as I live in the western suburbs now days. So will definantely check them out, would like to see the quality of their work too. I may also add that I'm thinking I'll get the gear stick cover redone too, so the interior should be looking A1 by the time it's all done. Hey Steve, yeah does sound like things have changed quite a bit, kinda scary! Will probably be about 6 weeks before the line is on the road (I'm always thinking of other little stuff I can fix/mod), but anything that's happening will be good to know about. Thanks everyone for the warm rewelcoming & the help so far. Looks like I've got some work to do.

Hello everyone, It's been a long time since I posted on here last, a lot of people probably don't know who I am (or forgot I even existed :-p) as I've been out of the scene for so long, but I'm finally getting close to getting my line back on the road again. For those who don't know I've been out of action for a while due to a break in on my car last year, which saw my interior get a bit trashed. Subsequently I had to buy & fix up a cheap hot hatch to get around in before attending to my busted up baby. While it's been of the road I've fixed up a few other things on it so I can just drive it when I'm done & not have to touch it..... well for a little while anyway. Anyhow, after countless complications I'm finally getting close to completing restoring/fixing up my ride and need a little advice. One thing that needs fixing is the steering wheel as the looser that tried to steal it managed to put several cuts in the leather so it will need re-wrapping (a new wheel is a bit pricey at over $1k!). So what I would like to know is who people would recommend to do leather work for their car. I have previously had a quote from Wilshire & if they are considered the best then that's who I'll do it through, though I wouldn't mind be surprised if someone else can do it better. All opinions welcome, hope to see you all on the road soon. Cheers, Jared

Bloody hell. Only just thought of this a couple of days ago. My woman & I are both keen to go so will see you guys there tomorrow. May bring a mate along too. -
Hey Martin, I've been running Yokahama Advans on the front of my 33 (235/40ZR18), but they were a bit pricey when I asked about 265/35ZR18's on the rear at over $500 a pop. I first had Hankook K104's, which I was quite disappointed in considering what I'd heard about them, cornered ok, but were especially poor at getting the power down. After researching the Tyre thread on here and several other sources I went for Falken FK452's second time around, & have been very happy with them, better cornering grip & far superior straight line grip + they have been wearing better too. At $330 each they're not a budget tyre, but not insanely priced either.

This info would be greatly appreciated, would be nice to catch one of these SOB's for change. If you could pass this info onto the Police tomorrow too my friend would be greatly appreciative. UPDATE: Just spoke to him again tonight & he told me that the last time he saw it was about 10 - 10:30pm so the tow truck you saw SICKR33GTS-T unfortunantly couldn't have been the one we were after. Thanks anyway for taking notice & coming forward.

Just got off the phone to him, understandably a bit pissed. Yeah it had a full alarm immobiliser fitted by the boys at GT Autosound. However he noticed when he got back home that there were scrape marks where it was parked, indicating that a tow truck was involved... It was parked right next to a unit, but no one heard anything, most likely as they never had to break in to steal it. It's not looking good atm, most likely already hidden in a dodgy chop shop. If there was ever a case for upgrading to GPS security this is it.
