Spotted a wine R33 last night about 7pm-ish in Monbulk... we both turned down Old Emerald Rd and then I pulled into a driveway. Also a gray R33 in the Eureka carpark, Southgate... seen it there a few times now... I think works at HWT.
  2. No... I think changi meant "mornos".. as in morning smoko...
  3. Hmmm.. I might have to have a go at that. Mine's been doing it since shortly after I got it... pretty annoying but I'm not too keen on ripping the entire dash apart. Disconnecting whatever it is shouldn't make any difference anyway, as it's obviously not working as it is currently! *adds to list of things to do on the 'line over the xmas break...*
  4. I had it last year... knocked out pretty bad... took me about 3 weeks to get back on my feet... like others have said just no energy, sleeping all day, sore throat (kinda feels like tonsillitis), etc. That said, my immune system is still not back where it used to be... and it's about 20 months since I had it... I just get sick really easily now, and a little cold knocks be about pretty hard. Really annoying, coz I'm like, it's just a cold... but I'm dead for a week! Good luck with it!
  5. +1 Exactly. 'bang-for-your-buck', whacking a turbo on is way out in front. Remember, it's still got that low-down punch from the high-compression NA pistons which (I'm hoping) should make it more fun to drive than a standard rb25det... i.e. more low-down 'get-up-and-go'.
  6. Not saying it can't be done... but what is your reasoning behind keeping it N/A? P-plates, or just 'because you can'? I assume that if you're willing to spend that kinda $$$ on an N/A engine, it's probably in pretty good nick and with low k's. I've got an N/A 33, and looked down this path... I decided that for the cash I'd have to part with I was better off building an RB25DE+T. I've bought everything required now (turbo, intake and exhaust manifolds, injectors, dump/front pipe, eManage Blue, FMIC + piping, boost gauge and boost controller, etc) for just under $1.5k, I'll be doing all the labour myself (minus the tune) and I'm hoping for well in excess of what I could reach N/A for twice the price. It'll be a high-compression turbo setup, so boost levels are limited (i.e. I'll run 8-9PSI tops I'd think...) but with the extra punch down low from the higher comp, it should be a nice fun drive. I guess we'll see soon! I'm hoping to do the conversion early January when I've got some annual leave booked, so I'll be posting up about it when it's all done. Just my 2c and maybe worth a consider? Of course if you've got other reasons for sticking with N/A, then ignore this
  7. I've got the Type-M front bar on mine and they're H3's... they might be the same as the standard bar, but then again, might not! If it's a similar size globe to the H1 but with a little lead coming off the back (i.e. about 5cm long) then it's H3...
  8. Hmmm.... Putting low comp pistons in just leaves me with a boring old rb25det... the rb25de+t should be a bit more fun to drive I'd hope... i.e. punchier down low... we'll see I guess!
  9. +1 to pretty much all of the above. With the higher compression ratio I don't think I'll be pushing anywhere NEAR that amount of boost, but even at say 7-8PSI, with the higher compression that's equivalent to much more on a low comp gts-t I'm really interested in the learning experience of it all... I mean while I'm fairly mechanically minded, this is a fairly big venture... should be fun!
  10. I pondered the same thing earlier in the year... I've got an N/A 33 which I love, I've taken good care of for the last few years, but I was after a bit more punch I've decided to go with the +t option, as I've got enough mechanical knowledge (and a mechanic mate or two!) to undertake the majority of the labour (minus the tune) myself. I've been buying bits and pieces to do the conversion (not an engine swap, turboing my current engine) over the past few months, picking up a bargain here and there as I've come across them. I set myself an inital budget of $2K all up... but I'd say I'm gonna come in well under. I'll (hopefully) be doing it in my holidays mid January... so I'll let you know how it goes!
  11. Where you've "connected wire to wire directly and electrical tape over it", is that just twisting the wire together, or actually soldering the wires? If it's just twisted, the vibrations could have caused a bad connection. I'd recommend you either solder the two wires together or use spade terminals. If the power connection was flakey, it would explain the symptoms exactly! If the deck doesn't have quite enough power, it could restart.
  12. How much for the R33 strut brace posted to Melbourne, Victoria?
  13. Nice! How does your exhaust flow... cat? mufflers?
  14. How exactly did you reconnect the wires?
  15. More info: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...-do-t17115.html Here's a pic of one:
  16. It's called the 'parking wand'. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Hell-Do-t86744.html
  17. Haha yeah it was a bit of a job... but I'm lucky coz the amps in the 'line have raised knobs for the tuning, you could just reach in and turn them as required. The one in the Lancer has kinda 'screw' ones u need a screwdriver to adjust... that would have made things pretty much impossible lol!
  18. I've got two amps and lots of other goodies in the little compartment behind the rear seat... i.e. next to the battery and above the fuel-pump cover. Out of sight, doesn't take up any room (well, not that wasn't just wasted anyway), and wiring is fantastic (power direct from the battery, rear-speakers and sub are very close, just had to run new front speaker wires and in your case, RCA's to the HU). I'm running a 'CarPuter' in there too, so I didn't need to run RCAs all the way up to the front of the car (had to run VGA and USB cables for the touch-screen instead ), but I think it's a fantastic little spot for amps and other gear.

if you want to get defected by a certain friendly member of the TMU maybe...
  20. I was under the impression we didn't have 'entrapment' laws here in Aus?
  21. Then go to the one power higher than the cops... the media TodayTonight or ACA could make a story about it I'm sure...
  22. Hahahahahahaha! I just LOLed here at work reading that. Golden.
  23. A few months ago I bought a little daily ('98 CE 1.5L Lancer), the benefits are manyfold: Obviously, first and foremost, the petrol costs. I fill the lancer up for about $40/week... when I was driving the 'line it was well over $110/week. I'm now putting a whole lot less KM's on the 'line, which means I'm not wastefully running down the engine on boring stiop-start city and freeway driving... the k's I do are fun! This has a follow-on effect relating to the servicing costs. I'm now doing a 10th of the the kms, so effectively the servicing intervals have just increased about 10 times! And yeah, when you get back in the 'line, you appreciate it so much more!
  24. We don't have 'entrapment' laws here in Aus... so no.
  25. What suburb are you in?
