Hey R324DR, I'm at work right now but will do it when I get home. Cheers, Sam.

Haha would love to but being a P-Plater in Victoria I can't drive an R33 GTSt, only an R33 GTS or an R32 GTSt. Anyway, I went to Daalder Exhausts in Dandenong on Thursday and got them to put a new exhaust on and then do the EPA test. They put a 2.5" system from the cat-back, through two mufflers and then just a standard piece of 2.5" pipe out the back. This configuration measured exactly 90dB... so I'd love to see what the old one would have reached! Anyway, all up it cost me about $350 including the test, but I was really interested to see if it went any better than before... It does. The power (well... if you can call it that on a NA ) comes in a lot earlier on in the rev range... there is no longer the noticeable bogging down between gears (well, very minor at worst), but it still doesn't sound anywhere near as nice as it did So all in all, I'd say that the change in size from 3" to 2.5" certainly resulted in a more drivable car, and especially since the turbo option is off-limits for at least another 9 months, I think it was worth it.

Well I got my car back yesterday All appears pretty good... very slight misalignment issue with the bonnet and the guard... a slightly larger gap (i.e. 2-3mm more on the repaired side to the original side), but other than that pretty good. The Air Conditioning was not cold at all, so I rang and they have organised for me to go and see the airconditiong specialists who re-gassed it... must be some form of leak. Other than those few minor issues, I am *very* happy with the service and work at Baywood Panels, they were friendly, had no problems with me popping in every few days to have a sticky-beak, and they did a pretty good job. I'll have to take it outside and take some good pictures while it's just been detailed

Got my car back today, and double-checked that VIN (ECR33-022795), that is what is engraved on the firewall... but my FAST does not bring it up. What does this mean?

Here you go mate

Hey Adam, That's the Australian VIN No given at compliance... you need the actual Japanese Chassis number... it's etched into the firewall... i.e. ECR33-123456 or whatever...

It's actually just BCNR33-041931... but here you go

Got a call from the panel shop this morning asking me to go down and have a look at something... Turns out that when the car was repaired from a previous accident, the top chassis rail that goes along the passenger side (drawn in red below) was welded wrong... so there is a different gap to the other side... nothing that can be seen until you open the bonnet and even then only if you are *really* looking for it. While I was there I took a couple more photos of the work in progress... they think I should have my car back on friday :D

I'm *pretty* sure it was the GV highway... i was coming from the Seymour direction towards Yea.... I think I live out the other side of the city, Wantirna to be precise, lol just headed towards Yea and was planning on following signs all the way back... but didn't end up getting there

Okay, so I got EPA'd the other day and now I have to get a new exhaust. If i were to get a 2.25" system made up would it be able to pass the 90dB test? Like what sort of mufflers/resonators would need to be in there to get it down to a passable level? What do you guys have on your cars that passes EPA tests?
-
Yeah, but i mean second-hand parts isn't too much of a problem, so long as they're good!
-
Hey guys, Another update: went down to the panel shop today in my sister's little holden nova and talked to the guy there... they've stripped it down (see pics) and ordered all of the parts. They said they had trouble getting a few (didn't mention which ones) but they managed to find all of them in the end... hope theres no dodgy stuff going on! The parts should arrive early next week, then off to the spray shop and back for assembly... should be finished halfway through not next week but the week after

I got mine for about $60 a few months ago, and they are still available at about that price. The newer G-Tech Pro SS, which measures heaps more stuff (and looks sooo much cooler ) goes for about $320 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=300066211531)
-
I have a G-Tech and I find it very accurate. I have used it to measure 0-100 and 400m times (never yet used it for hp measurement).

Hmmm... my car is in the panel shop at the moment (after an unfortunate collision with a kangaroo) but I'm going on Friday to have a look at it and I'll have a look then.
-
Well I got a call from the insurance company today... $6000 worth of damage... all covered under insurance of course (but with a $1800 excess ) and i should have my car back in three weeks
-
Can someone please look up my R33 for me? ECR33-022795 Cheers, Sam.
-
I'm really not sure... Someone mentioned that the Type M stuff was only on the turbos... Once I get my car back from the panel shop I'm going to look it up on FAST and see what it was when it was made.

I know, I know, old thread... meh Can anybody tell me what my car is? It's an 1994 R33 GTS Series 1 (i believe...) with the following: - Non-turbo - manual - Type M front bar and spoiler - 2 pot front brakes, single pot rears - 5 stud wheels - LSD (not A-LSD though) - no light-up SKYLINE garnish under the boot, but it is not body coloured either - ABS - HICAS - no airbags - rear wiper - no sunroof Sorry I only have a couple of photos... my car is in the panel shop after an unfortunate collision with a Kangaroo (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...0&p=2773000) and these are the only ones i have.

Well I went down to the panel-beaters where it is going to be repaired, and took a couple of photos. Unfortunately they really don't do it justice... but you get the idea. The first photo looked much worse in real life... you could see a lot more broken/smashed/bent bits The radiator is pushed all the way back onto the motor, breaking the thermatic fan on it's way. there is nothing left of the headlight, the airbox is broken, and of course the quarterpanel is bent as is the bonnet. There was actually no damage to the bumper (except where the chains from the tow truck scraped the bottom edge and scratched the paint ) As for what to do when you see a roo, in this situation i really had no time to react. I came around the bend and had maybe 2 seconds before the roo hit the front of the car. I was certainly not about to turn off my lights (not a light in sight) and i didn't have time to get onto the horn. I probably would have been better to just mash that brake pedal and keep on straight, but as you say, instinct just kicks in!
