Came with the car and I've never bothered to remove it Yeah I saw that too... was hard to tell from three lanes across whether it had a flat front tire or something else was wrong...

Followed a red R35 GTR - GDZZLR - along the Monash this morning... I was in the Lancer so probably wouldn't have noticed me... either that or thought I was a weirdo taking pics and gawking at your car (and yes... I do have a dash-mat in my Lancer )
  3. Really? I've overtaken there on numerous occations (I drive through there A LOT)... if as you come around the corner at the bottom you can't see anything coming for the whole stretch, you're usually safe to pull out, mash the loud pedal and then pull back in... I've only got myself into trouble there once, I kinda forgot I was only in the lancer, not the skyline, and pulled out with no grunt to pass... had to pull back in instead
  4. That's how I understand it too (i.e. as it currently stands). Take this little stretch of road for example (Monbulk Rd, Kallista)... the whole way through the forest (except for one other tiny section) it's solid double lines... fair enough, overtaking would be crazy. Then you get to this one section of straight road and it becomes a single line... clearly that means they are differentiating that this section is safer to overtake... with these new laws, they really should make it double all the way... I mean what's the point of the single line if it's legally no different to a double? It's just gonna confuse people!
  5. Not that I would of course, but seeing as it's a PC it could easily be playing a movie or have the net open while driving... I'm not really even sure if the whole music visualizations would be considered too distracting... hence I hit the GPS button (or yeah, switch it off completely, but that takes a short time for windows to shutdown/hibernate) whenever I get pulled over
  6. Hmmm... so I *could* be in trouble with this? Already I always hit the GPS button when I get pulled over, just to be safe...
  7. Hey all, Just thought I'd post a little heads-up on some new VicRoads rules coming in on the 9th of November... Here's their site on the changes... http://roadrules.vicroads.vic.gov.au/ Points of notable interest:
  8. Look up Turbo Blankets or Turbo Beanies...
  9. Software Developer
  10. Here's a quick shot of my screen install in the 33... the paint job on the dash fascia isn't finished yet (still got one more coat of the silver and then a couple of coats of clear), but you get the idea. Got music/video/pics, FM radio (though I've gotta work out a better antenna... the reception is pretty poor at the moment), GPS (USB GPS dongle - $50 eBay - and FreeDrive software), all running through the FreeICE frontend (for the moment - as a software developer I'm hoping ot oneday get around to building my own from scratch... I've used Centrafuse, RoadRunner, FrodoPlayer, and a couple of others from http://www.mp3car.com/... personally I find FreeICE does the job for me for the moment.
  11. Haha that sounds like a bit of role-reversal to me... i.e. it's always me having to fix up what my dad who is almost computer-illiterate has managed to mangle... good luck with the backup...
  12. Do you have a full brakes setup? I'm after front & rear calipers, rotors and pads... or whatever you've got! I'm in SE Melb so can pickup... Also possibly interested in the power steering pump...
  13. I've been toying with that idea for my Lancer for a while... just add the touch-overlay to the screen and disconnect it from the main base, mount it up in the dash and it's practically done. Grab a 12V car charger and wire that in, hook up the soundcard output up to my amps (possibly need an external soundcard for decent audio quality, if my experiences with the CarPuter in my Skyline are anything to go by), plug in a USB GPS receiver and viola, fairly self-contained CarPC.
  14. I think I paid around $50 on eBay for the eeePC (7") one... but as you'll need the 10.1" its bound to be a little more pricey.
  15. Nah, the TC1100 uses a stylus-only digitizer... though you can buy touch overlays which connect up via USB... I used a smaller version (designed for the eeePC actually) on my 7" screen for my CarPuter... works perfectly.
  16. Which model HP Tablet did you use? I've got an old TC1100 in the cupboard but its not touch-sensitive... you need to use the stylus... is yours that way? or can you just use your finger?

Spotted a white R34 with SAU stickers on the rear quarters on the Ferntree Gully Rd on-ramp to the Monash this morning... I was in the white Lancer 1 car ahead...
  18. I know this is an old thread, but I'm wondering the same question... I've got a brand new AFR gauge sitting at home and I'm not sure what I've gotta do to get it hooked up with a wideband. Would something like this work? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...em=170383640844 And can this replace the stock narrowband or do I need to have both (I want to retain the closed loop mode, so just not connecting it back up isn't an option!)?
  19. LOL what a great thread My GF was complaining a little while ago about the suspension being a bit rough, but she put it down to it being old (just stock 33 GTST) and figured it'd get better when I got my new setup... she doesn't realise that coilovers ain't gonna be a softer ride Apart from that there's the too loud, money pit, etc... and the fact that she won't drive it because she's too scared. When it was N/A she was fine, used to really enjoy driving it (apart from mentioned complaints of course!) but once the turbo was bolted up she refuses to drive it. No matter how much I try to explain that you can actually drive it easily off boost if you want and it's only quick if you really open up the throttle, she's still too scared. Ah well. At least she'll still come in the car with me - otherwise I'd be stuck riding in her Yaris or my Lancer every time we went anywhere together

Spotted the same gunmetal grey R32 GTS-t on Springvale Rd near the Glen the last few days, sometimes in the morning and other times at night... no SAU stickers or anything but *might* be on here...
  21. lol. I actually had one of them on my N/A for a little while... I mounted it all up before I did the RB25DE+t conversion... felt like a real tool driving around with it here not hooked up though... I mean the only real giveaway was the lack of power... although I did have one guy jump out of his car at the lights one day and ask me if he could take a look at my cooler piping as he was trying to work out his... lol had to tell him that it wasn't hooked up yet - probably thought I was an idiot
  22. I've installed central locking in a few cars now and as long as you take your time and do it properly, it shouldn't be a problem. The main thing is to make sure you have the motors pushing in the same direction as the rods inside the door... i.e. not at 45º angles or anything like that... which would put stress on the motor. Also, where possible, fix one of the mounting points for the motor through the actual door frame, and the other using the little bracket things that come in the pack... that way you get a better fixing, etc.
  23. I have to disagree. Mesh CAN look okay on the right car, it's just when it's over-the-top and cheap looking that it becomes tacky. I have to say that on Cara's car it looks top notch! Because there's no FMIC it needs something to fill the hole there and the mesh does a good job of finishing it off.
  24. Well I'm certainly interested in selling... Come on guys, this is a FANTASTIC deal here... do your research and check it out! I bought it for someone who decided that they didn't really need it in the end, so I'm just trying to cut my losses and get rid of it! It's sitting there costing me interest on my Credit Card... please buy it!
  25. Hey all, Got a brand new ASUS F5SR notebook here for sale... it's the PRO50SR-AP301C model which has an RRP of over $1100! It's fairly decent, not 'hardcore gamer' spec, but certainly a reasonable machine for most purposes. Anyway, here's the specs: 2.16GHz Intel® Pentium Dual Core T3400 Processor (667MHz FSB, 1MB L2 Cache) 2GB DDR2 PC2-6400 (800MHz) RAM 250GB 5400RPM Hard Drive 15.4" WXGA 1280x800 LCD 512MB (Dedicated) ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470 Graphics Intel® 802.11a/g/n Wireless 10/100/1000 (Gigabit) Ethernet DVD+/-RW Reader/Writer 1.3MP Swivel Webcam Speaker and microphone Multi card reader Built-in Azalia compliant audio chip, with 3D & full duplex Ports: 1 x Express card 1 x Microphone-in jack 1 x Headphone-out jack (S/PDIF) 1 x VGA port/Mini D-sub 15-pin for external monitor 4 x USB 2.0 ports 1 x IEEE 1394 port 1 x RJ45 LAN Jack 1 x DVI Port 1 x SD Port [*]90W 240v Power Adapter/Charger [*]6 Cell Adaptor (4800mAH) [*]Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium [*]Weight: 2.6KG [*]Dimensions: 367 x 262 x 27-35mm http://za.asus.com/999/images/products/2573/2573_l.swf I'm after about $900 for it. PM me on here, call/SMS me on 0425 785 126, or shoot me an email at [email protected]. I'm located in the SE suburbs of Melbourne, but I'm happy to post it anywhere (within reason) in Australia. Cheers, Sam.
