  1. Yes its getting a little bit off topic. Feel free to PM me for any further questions or enquiries, or you can come into my office in the Melb CBD. I'm a Tax Manager and will look after SAU members
  2. Hi Fungoolie, Yes you are correct that their are alot of other factors you need to take into account but didnt want to go into too much detail, but its good to get a constructive discussion going The calculation was if a car was held in a business at a statutory at 20%. This is then grossed up by the applicable FBT value and the multiplied by the FBT Tax Rate. In regards to the flat FBT rate of 20% announced in the budget that is a rate that is only progressively applied from 10 May 2011 and will come into full effect from 1 April 2014. On the flip side you can choose to use the 'Operating Cost' method and do an employee contribution but I was just giving the OP a window of how many variables there are and do the calculations before committing
  3. My car made around 200rwkw on Trent's Dyno with a Nistune ECU, Turbo back exhaust, FMIC and Turbotech boost controller at about 12psi.
  4. I'd be working out the numbers before deciding to purchase a car within a business (assuming you are running a business). Due to the associated Fringe Benefits Tax Conseqences As going off rough calculation FBT Tax Payable on a Motor vehicle $125,000 using the Statutory method off 15,000km a year is approximately $31,000 in tax. You will also continue to pay FBT as long as a car is held in a business name. There's other factors to take into account such as the GST refund you would get and depreciation depending on the type of lease. But there are a lot of factors that make the numbers, so as such some situations it is beneficial and some others it is not.
  5. Look awesome! I'm curious too know how high your car is off the ground? Looks like it may struggle to get to some places!
  6. Don't thnk the traction control would help if anything it would make it worse. In my R34 when the TCS kicks in it cuts power for a good second or so. So if it happened whilst he was on a steep driveay he wild just be sliding down slowly down the driveway
  7. Bad luck dude, I got defected on the weekend too! I've loved Skylines all my life but it's times like these that make you just want to give in and sell it !
  8. Thanks guys, I guess it's just the stigma attached with owning a skyline. But the manner in which as soon as they see you they weave through traffic and speed up to get you would make you think ur a criminal. Anyway enough bitching from me i should just be thankful I didn't get done for anything else. Maybe I should run for PM and get the rules changed
  9. I just got chased and pulled over for a defect after just cruising and trying to return some DVD's. Anyway don't worry about that. The cop said he was just issuing me a warning for the car being too low and jus to go to Vic roads to clear it. So that's fine. But i just noticed on he defect notice that it says it's a major defect and a rwc certificate required? Do I need one? Does the fact that it's a major defect mean anyhing? Can I just go to vicroads and clear it like the officer said?

  13. In only happens on an incline and also seems to be only in hot weather. As it didn't stall when I did the same thing at night.. I always put the car in neutral at the traffic lights and it has never stalled before.
  14. Thanks for the help guys, will look into it when I have somefree time
  15. Whoops! Car is a 1998 r34 gtt Mods: turbo back exhaust, hybrid fmic, nistune ecu, and apexi panel filter. That's it. Stock bov. Could it be perhaps be the hot weather? Only started to do it in the last two weeks? Never had happened before. And always happens on this particular driveway. Never happens when I go into my parents house in neutral which I have done for the last 5 years
  16. Hi all, I've noticed recently that when putting the car in neutral and coasting up the driveway from the road that in the last 2 weeks that the car would stall 1/2 way up the incline of the driveway. Is there something wrong with the car? This hasn't ever happened to me in 5 years of ownership. Didn't know you could stall cars whilst in a neutral gear?
