Wanted: One 17x9 Gtr Offset Wheel, Doesnt Matter What Style
GTRNUR replied to GTRNUR's topic in Wanted to Buy
yeah true, and i'll be using one of the existing tyres as well. one of my two rears was scrubbed out pretty bad from incorrect camber, but the other is ok. Going to replace them both and then run the good one as a spare. The fronts are really good. CHeers, Ian -
Hi all, I'm after a single 17x9" wheel in GTR offset (+20 or +22 I think) to use as a full size spare. Doesn't matter if its got kurb rash, is scratched or whatever. A standard R33 GTR wheel would be nice but anything will do so long as its not bent. Cheers, Ian

Correction!!! The cylinder holes measure 79mm. It is definatly an RB20DET 3 layer metal head gasket tho, and its 1.2mm thick. THanks for spotting that! Cheers, Ian

Pics attached, and the regulator is below. I can take pics of the head, but there isn't much to see. Its all wrapped in plastic and i'd rather not go getting the machining oil contaminated with dust and shit.

Hi, I'm selling all of my new and used parts that I purchased for my RB25/30 GTS4 engine build bit I never got around to using. Now the car is gone I have a spare room full of parts I'll never use, so here's the list. RB25DET Series 2 head, machined, pressure tested, and wrapped in plastic with cams and lifters numbered and all ready for assembly. Cams are stock. VVT is intact. Had about 56,000k on the engine it came off. Rocker covers, all bolts, cam gears the works. Will throw in all the standard accessories as well. $1300 ono. I'll throw in an ARP RB25DET head stud kit to anyone that wants to buy the head. Just found it when cleaning up my workshop the other day Greddy RB26 Oil pump $1250 Firm (way better than an N1, and retail for over $1500) Tomei RB25DET 1.2mm x 0.020" oversize (87mm) stainless steel shim grommet style head gasket $300 ono I'm in Cairns, and will freight anywhere. Phone : 0434 147 478 or PM me on this forum. Cheers, Ian

Fs ==== R33 Gtr V- Spec =====
GTRNUR replied to raw111's topic in For Sale (Private Whole cars only)
Hi Lin, Called you earlier today. As I said ill be in the gold coast this friday, and am in the market for an R33 GTR. If you are able to get your RWC sorted out in time let me know and i'll call you up and come have a look. I'll be in Nerang around 11am on Friday and will be looking at another car first, but i'd like a look at yours if you are ready to sell, or negotiate on price due to lack of the RWC and any problems that might be with the car. Let me know your thoughts. Ian. -
Dodgy Things You Have Done To Your Cars
GTRNUR replied to rgr34's topic in General Automotive Discussion
My old 1200cc vw engine dropped a valve driving to work. Smashed the piston, cracked 3 it ways and was only held together by the rings. THe valve was hammered into the crown of the piston. Alluminium fell down into the engine, the cylinder head was smashed up good as well, and where there was an intake and exhaust port there was just one big hole. $15 later I bought a second hand head, and a piston from an 1100cc engine (same bore, diferent stroke). Picked the bits of alloy out of the sump as best i could (definatly some big chunks remained), held the piston in a vice and filed down the skirts to allow them to clear the crankshaft throw, lapped in the valves in the head with valve grinding paste and a battery drill, and re-assembled. I got another 5000+k's out of that engine before the new engine was built. It even started first go when it was put back together and didn't eveb blow much smoke! Try that with any moden car! Cheers, Ian -
Buying An R33 Gtr, What Do I Need To Check
GTRNUR replied to GTRNUR's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Thanks everyone. So the check list so far is... 1. Rust check, in wheel arches, chasssis, pan, boot, engine bay, behind intercooler and everywhere in general. 2. Compression test, do one. (What pressure is right for an RB26?). I guess around 150-160 and they all need to be very close. 3. Put the car on a hoist. Check the suspension, tie rod ends, bushes, diff and cradle mounts, shock/coilovers. 4. Look in the radiator for signs of brown discolouration, (indicating water only and not coolant use). 5. Receipts, look at them all. 6. Oil pressure. 7. Paint check. Even if it has been resprayed and looks tidy it can indicate a hit, which means seams that can fill with water and rust can then start. 8. Blue plate check (model, vspec? factory colour, manufacture date) 9. Log books, check last service date and get details of when major service items like gearbox, transfer case and timing belt were done. 10. Judge the seller and the car. (I guess this means look for signs your listening to BS), and leave emotion at the door. Keep the suggestions coming. I'm checking out my perspective GTR this friday and need to be prepared! Cheers, Ian -
Hi everyone, Im looking to buy an R33 GTR and am after a check list of sorts to identify problem areas. I am familiar with R32's and the typical things like rust in the arches, worn suspension components, compression tests etc... but is there a list of things to check on the R33's that could potentially save me some coin down the track? Cheers, Ian

How's the rust situation, inside the rear guards, and forward rear cradle mounts, boot etc? Also, will you consider selling the car a little cheaper if you de-register it? How old is the clutch? Did the crank go in stock, or is it fitted with an oil pump drive extension, or an R33 crank? Last of all, what year is it?

As i understood it there are two turbine trim options for this turbo? Is the 0.82 the smaller or the larger for the GT3040R? I know one of them is 700hp! :S
-
I cant remember what i paid for it. I think it was about $1800 or $2000. Horsepowerinabox sell the same turbo for $2350 so i either got mine cheap, or the prices went up. I'd accept $1800 for the GT3040R. Its specs again are 0.7/0.82, and it requires an external gate.
-
Afraid not... but I do have a brand spankin' new GT3040R 0.7/0.82 700hp garret turbo. Its still in the shipping box, never opened. That was for this engine as well...
