  1. Not intimately familiar with the regs (great idea btw. Only a small step towards making the roads safer) *waits for flames from 17 year old Schumi wannabe's* I can't see any insurance company being stupid enough to accept a dyno printout as proof that your car complies with a flywheel power/weight ratio. How hard is it to fiddle dyno figures people? All you have to do is go to your local freindly dyno shop and say "I'd like a low power reading thanks" Just a tweak of a few parameters, and voila - an underpowered GTSt. As I said, I'm not familiar with the legislation, and am not calling you a liar, akeenan. I just think it's very naive of an insurance company to accept that kind of evidence. I sure as hell wouldn't like to be in the firing line and find out the truth the hard way.
  2. I have some bits left over after selling my R32 (new owner has neglected to come and pick them up) Parts are: bare dash - good cond (no gauges, switches or anything like that) Steering rack power steering pump & resevoir Steering column I picked these up off a guy doing an RB20 conversion into another car, who did not need them. I'm open to offers on all of the bits - just want to clear a bit of space in my (tiny) shed. PM me for details, or e-mail me [email protected] I'm on the Gold Coast
  3. Depending ont he warranty you have, it *should* be covered. I had a used car warranty on my R32, and the paperwork said "All internally lubricated parts", which includes synchros. No argument. The synchro relies on friction between the synchro cones to speed up/slow down the gears in the gearbox. If they are worn, or you use too slippery a lube (teflon additives etc) it can effect the amount of "bite" you get in the synchro cones. An old rallying trick is to cut radial grooves into synchro rings, to allow the oil to dissipate better (bit like tread on your tyres). Sounds rough, but apparently works a treat, and lets you make much faster gear changes (wouldn't recommend you try it on your Skyline tho)
  4. 5 speed manual. I live in Helensvale. Have taken a deposit on the car, and expect tto receive payment tomorrow (waiting on a cheque to clear). Will let you know if it falls thru. Cheers Warps
  5. Biteme, I have a gunmetal grey R32. We bought the house where I saw your car, but then pulled out of the contract because the place had termites (nice house otherwise!!). We've now bought another house at the other end of Helensvale (settle in 10 days!!) Are those Viper Lugarnos on your car? I have a set on my Magna (Mum's family car). The wheels sure stand out on an R32. I prefer the original look, but as you said, eveyryone has their own tastes.
  6. Hey BiteMe, I think I've seen your car around the Gold Coast. Were you perchance at an open house at Helensvale about a month ago? I saw one just like yours parked out front. Very tidy unit.
  7. Didn't attach my photo:rolleyes:
  8. I can see from the overwhelming response that you people would like to see photos of the car:D The car is currently registered in NSW (just moved to QLD) and has 6 months rego left. Anyone in NSW can take it as is (will negotiate slightly lower price). I will transfer the rego to QLD when I sell it, so the buyer will get 12 months rego.
  9. 200mm is definitely too low. How does the car feel to drive? It could be a boost problem, a gauge problem (factory gauges are notorious for being inaccurate - but not THAT bad) or the pressure line to the gauge leaking. My standard R32 GTS peaks at about 600mm on the factory gauge. Never had it calibrated though.
  10. 760mmHg is about 1 atmosphere, = 1 bar, = 14.7PSI
  11. Hey all. Time has come to sell my Gunmetal Grey GTSt type M. * Factory original (except for Nismo strut brace and Alpine CD head unit) * 102,000km * 18 months Nationwide warranty * 12 months rego * Imported in May 2001 * Excellent condition Asking $15,200 Email me [email protected], or pm me Thanks
  12. All gone. Thanks for the responses everyone.
  13. I have over 150 car magazines to give away, some dating back to 1989. Magazines include Wheels, Motor, Zoom, Fast Fours, HPI and a few others. Am moving interstate in 3 weeks so everything must go. whatever doesn't get taken goes into the bin. I am in the Hunter Valley, NSW Email me for more info on [email protected]
  14. If he wants to rally, it will have to be registered. This means that only cars currently homologated by the FIA are eligible (which precludes all Skylines except GTR). You CAN rally a car not listed in the homologation list, but it would need to have full compliance and road rego, to qualify. For circuit only, as the others said, you need the correct licince and will be asked to demondtrate that it's actually being used for racing (CAMS logbook etc.)
  15. Step 1: join a CAMS affiliated motor club (any rally club will do, as they DO run tarmac events) Step 2: Get a CAMS Level 2 licence Step 3: Scan the events calendar the club gives you. Look for supersprints or hillclimbs. They are both held on tarmac, and a good way to get started Step 4: Buy a helmet Step 5: Go racing. This is obviously very simplistic, but it will get you started into competive tarmac racing, where you can run your street car. there are often track days held at the tracks - many of the car clubs run them (WRX club, Honda club to name a couple). On these days, you can take your car out for a lay, and they sometimes arrange professional tuition. Once you start "hanging around the scene", you will quickly meet lots of like minded people, who can steer you in the right direction, depending on what you want to do. It's easy to then learn everytihing you need to know about motorsports. The supersprints are good, as you usually get a range of cars, from nearly stock family cars to full on open wheelers and sports sedans. Just Do it!! (it doesn't have to be expensive). Oh and as far as being picked up for a professional drive - there's a lot more to it than having talent. Club level motorsport is chock full of talented drivers who never made it to the top, because they: a) didn't have the funds B) weren't in the right place at the right time c) Didn't present themselves well d) didn't get the opportunity to learn to race properly e) name any reason you want.
  16. Import duty is on the FOB cost + shipping = purchase price + auction etc fees + shipping. they then charge GST on top of that as well.
