its better than nothing, shove it in
-
mine is "custom", about half the size of the stock windscreen wiper fluid dooby , its not pretty though lol. i will always plumb it back in, as that is just the law. i have a quick car but there is nothing i can really get done for. and i will try and keep it that way
-
you just gained the weight you lost by putting the rb lol. still, i like silvias too. ALMOST anything with a nissan badge from the 90's is fine by me. i find ford 6's are the best modern engine to work on, everything is simple and set up correctly, ie spark plug easy access, etc all the little things. it takes too long to pull plugs on a stock rb i was wondering what you guys are using for the liquid gasket, and whats good for sealing the threads on the temp sensor etc. all i have is loctite, and teflon tape lol point me in the right direction
-
should have just bought a line still not as roomy as i would like in there, but yeah it sounds better. hardest thing i did was remove the bolts for the strut brace! they were torqued up to about FT . stupid things.

i am lucky enough to work off a r33 engine manual, as in the actual book... it makes a lot of things easier, and you can read it over and over on the train so you know exactly what your in for. i can see this job step by step in my head, ive gone through it so many times. im just lazy when i get home lol
-
me too. they are mechanics after all, not super heroes. anything they can do i can do. its just a matter of how long it takes and how many mistakes are made lol. should go to the cooler piping matey, thats why my piping kit has so many holes EDIT: anyone else sick of jap instructions? if all we can use is the pictures, they should have made them pop up books that would be better
-
just had a good read, that is an awesome thread. i feel sorry for the noobs at the end tho lol. mine is fully plumb back, so nice and legal (i hope) i like the size of the inlets on the drift ones. thats what you really want, if only there was 3
-
fine i'll go look EDIT: one goes under the plenum, other one plumbs into the crossover pipe before the bov and throttle body, the one that gets in the way when doing sparkies and is part of the reason i'm doing this mod. do you need to know which is witch or your right? its fkn cold out there

mines out too, its got dark on me though. i'm a few steps behind richard so im treading carefully in all of your footsteps keep posting everything lol

just dont make anything smaller than it already is. have a look at the gtr breather hoses and see they are a lot bigger than the gtst from factory. you dont need to change whats on your rocker covers, but try and keep the same or larger diameter through your catch can too. 400ml is not a lot, but your car probably wont spit a whole lot out so that should be fine. the catch can is there to stop the oil that is in the air in the cam covers from going into the intake, where it will go through to the cylinders and be burnt along with the air and petrol. oil in the intake can rob power if excessive, but more importantly can promote detonation, pinging, knocking etc its all the same to you it equals bad news. so you use a catch can to try and seperate the oil from the air (fill it with steel wool in a stocking etc. if you can open it). If it has a small filter venting to atmosphere, then it is a defect in nsw and will coat everything around it with a fine mist of oil unless you use it as an oil-air seperator (the steel wool idea). if you use a smaller inlet/outlet pipe to the catch can than you have on the cam covers, at your power level you are risking increasing the crankcase pressure unnecessarily, which leads to dipsticks blowing out and cam cover gasket failure and a host of other problems if left unchecked. keep everything sensibly sized and you will not have any problems.

6mm is pretty small, you dont want to restrict the breathing system, its designed for stockish power levels which you arent at. you could of course still use it, but i would think about getting some bigger nipples on it EDIT: are you sure they are only 6 mm? you want something at least as big as the hoses on the rocker covers ideally

Gb: Gts-t / Gtt Silicone Inlet Pipe From Airbox To Turbo
jeffworld2 replied to Bass Junky's topic in Group Buys
im in, as long as it will go to the airbox fine -
guys, its the knock reading on the power fc going above 60. the first reply was correct. if you go to monitor, and select knock as one of the channels, then press right so it displays the maximum you have reached on the right side of the screen. rev it out and watch the little light flash, then look at the max value you have reached. i guarantee its more than 60. this is why you need to tune the car, to stop the engine pinging and get it running healthily. go now and do it lol.
-
yup you need that, and a plug/bung to block the return pipe if you havent already. then it will bolt straight on. i have both here, but its too ricey for me, lol
-
i think the head is the limiting factor here, even if you rebuild it tough.

Holy Cow The Ultimate Turbo For All Cars!
jeffworld2 replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
maybe its the same as a fuel system.. if you have a dying stock pump you can still use it as a lifter pump as the bigger new pump does most of the work.. maybe your engine vacum is doing a fair bit of the work and allows this fan to exceed its individual flow/propulsion capacity. so there. lol but seriously dont ever buy one. they are obviously ghetto -

ha you guys are getting too competitive, i went fast and i only drive one handed. you have a lot to learn before you waste money on semi slicks. i'm not sayting it wont help, im just saying you could get the time other ways. like driving better. i'm sure its harder to do the slalom 180 turns on semis too, its tightest if you sliiide. -
i want to do it from here lol. i wont make it in time for the day so i'll stop filling this thread with my problem. have fun guys, hopefully i can spectate a bit. i have to buy andrew lunch

lol yeah... right. everyone knew you weren't blown up, its just that most people could see that you were going to get wiped out if you stayed there long enough. plus your car was the only one from memory that actually dissapeared in a cloud of smoke, the otehrs were moving around too much. not that i know a lot about burnouts *whistles* lol ive been to summernats too many times -

should have gone out the way you went in -
can anyone help me source some ds2500's or similar? maybe some dba 4000 rotors too? i cant get this stuff from autopro lol. well not for a nice price anyway. brakes are fine for street, i dont use them. but you stop a few times from what we will call high speed and they fade and squeal like a banshee, they are just a crap pad i beleive, (compliance pad?). plenty of meat on them they just don't work.
