  1. if your compression is not even thats a whole different thing, but im sure it would result in knock. A compression test will tell you if there is a cylinder leaking air somewhere and basically tests the rings on pistons and the head gasket as far as i can tell. valves too i guess? getting the timing checked is a good idea, most places can manage it if you dont have a gun or knowhow. (which i dont). u basically point and match to the marks
  2. yeah you need some management unfortunately, but try resetting it first. just take off the negative battery and leave it overnight or press the brake a few times to get all the power out of the ecu., then turn on and let your car start from the nissan maps again. or get someone with consult etc. to reset it. Some say it doesn't do anything, but i used to reset mine after each major mod and got a ridiculous power figure off the stock ecu, so i dunno. may aswell. power fc is in now and car feels so much better, especially between about 2500-3500rpm.. thanks brad you are the champ *rocky theme music*
  3. sorry double post. hi everyone :?
  4. russia only did two runs i think, it was pinging badly. his was stockish too. very nice looking kit tho, especially after you washed it in my front yard you water theif... lol bit of drift damage too.. looked awesome. chunky ass tyres.. i rememner all.
  5. yeah, buster is top of their 6 cyl forced induction list.. and 2nd, 3rd... lol they ahd a few big power printouts on their wall. apparently adam is the guy to get down there, but he is jetsetting a bit so you have to ring ahead. They were happy to install fuel pumps, injectors and ecus... but werent really a mechanics place. JEM=Just Engine Mangement after all.
  6. stock ecu, stock everything else lol (bs) added the air fuel ratio which is basically what i remember seeing on the screen for run no.2, although this is the print of run no.3. uses the same scale as the boost, so you get the idea, it went rich as the high 9's at the top end. this is where the powerfc will come into it. i guess it means my pump and injectors will handle a tiny bit more too if they can still run that rich at 6000rpm. even the peak at the end was 10:1.
  7. hah look at me! im so glad someone took a photo of the list, i remembered some but not all. good work philboy
  8. someone post vids... im about to go camping

  14. just got a hand controller for the powerfc, it can read maps so im stoked lol thanks eug, you are a champion for offering to help. i like your enthusiasm
  15. just got some info from brad, apparently trying to access the ign maps from the laptop just keeps freezing it. something may be fu*dwith my fc methinks...
  16. can you do the steering rack? posted to syd, 2167
  17. even datalogit cant get in to the ign maps; im guesssing its locked. what are my options for unlocking it
  18. need pics! i will take if in sydney
  19. when one of the cooler pipes close to the turbo outlet ( the first join after the elbow) blew completely off in an r32 i was doing an intercooler install on, the car ran fine but stalled when coming to idle. if you held it at 1100 it would run. there was a good 10/20mm gap between the 2 pipes at the closest point, but they were still facing each other. the turbo was basically "fanning" the unmetered intake. in less extreme cases, if some boost is lost in the cooler pipes then it has already been metered and fueled for, so you are always going to be too rich for the actual air in the cylinders.
  20. i was worried about that... the bums. anyone have any experience/ideas?
  21. i know there is one power fc with rb25 on it, and the newer one with ecr33. i dont know if there are sub divisions as well, but either way i cant find out until i get a hc and see if it talks or not.
  22. you do when the laptop didnt want to talk to it for some reason. we were unable to change fuel values, only ign. so i want to try with the hc
  23. hi, was wondering if anyone from syd would let me borrow their hand controller, as i need it to get my car tuned. i need one suited to the old type rb25 powerfc. i only need for this weekend so i can get it all sorted. i am from glenfield but travel to the city for work and am willing to drive to pick it up if you can spare it for a few days. thanks let me know EDIT: willing to pay a deposit if you want
  24. my car has coilovers, but is lowered extensively on 17x9's. there is no grip in the wet, but superb cornering in the dry. if you check your rear camber, u will see why, mine is ridiculous. get some camber correction in the rear, then try again. if your tyres have massive blocks they just wont move the water out, mine are like this and it is dangerous at any speed toi enter a roundabout in the wet. i try not to drive much in the wet unless i have too. if you ant wet grip, lose the blocks.
  25. you can degrease and then spray off. do it when the motors hot and dont bother startting it for a while. the hot motor will dry the water out quicker. ur engine can get wet, otherwise it would be sealed from the outside world, it rains u know. its just that it may cause some problems with the electrics. eg. it may bridge a contact in one of the loom connectors etc. or more commonly, provide an easier ground for the spark plugs/coils than firing across the gap. dont spray the hose straight onto sparkies or coils or dizzys (lol old school) more than you have to and let it all dry a bit before attempting to statrt a wet motor
