Giant, unreal time you have got to be pleased with that rediculous fast time, I hope you will settle for this and let others get nearer. What was the time 1 min 4.1...? Zed runs around 320rwkw for track and now with boost button which was around 370rwkw and 450rwkw drags on funny fuel. Might dig the wallet out and through some funnyfuel for next circuit battle. it is a long way to come Mark and Rus might stay home for the next one?????? Yes all at Wakefield. I believe three and a final at end of the year. R31Nismoid not using the gear box what is he doing then, or prob did not have early last year??? That box sounds sweet on the straight sounds like one gear. I am still saving up for mine as big dollar. Check out the wing pumpin.

I think the MX5 did a 1 min 5.33. Interesting to note John Boston in my zed was in 2nd at the fish hook corner when I am in third, and he does not change to fourth until well around the next right where I am in fourth before the right hander as I short shift. So clearly I need to rev the ring out of the boat. With this change of driving and a few changes we are making to set up to correct a little understeer and a few other tricks we will be faster for the next one which is 24th May. Might get the cardigan out for this event and might be hard for all to beat their times as a fair bit colder at that time of year and not so good for traction, especially with less than a lap to warm up tyres, and even then not good for grip being so cold. Also a dog box would prob give me a half to a second quicker time I suspect which Giant GTR has. I might run funny fuel like Giant did which will give me a lot more power. If Giant and that pesky MX5 stand still in development I might be in for a chance of the title. Maybe some driving lessons too. This event is hotting up to be a beauty as lots of tough cars, not bling cars. Geoff from SSS was at this event in his R32 GTR race car which competes in Improved Production series which have to run restrictors in front of the turbo's which he did not have time to remove and re tune and was not far behind my time. If he sets his car up right also a contender. By the way the MX5 ran into my rear right quarter trying to over take me coming down the hill on the fast right hander on my first lap in practice. Wrong place to try and overtake. Only minor damage to both cars, although he came off second best, little thing hitting barge arse.

I competed yesterday in the first of 2007 Auto Salon Circuit Battle's at Wakefield. Not ideal conditons for traction as moist air and cold at 15c tops and cloudy. My best was 1 min 6.18 which was third. Giant on SAU came first in his R32 GTR did an amazing 1 min 4.1 something and second was turbo MX5. John Boston Pro driver at the end of the day in my car did a 1 min 4.98. Awesome line up of cars.

Re Fuels Martini M110 now called Super Turbo 1400 Race fuel is street legal and unleaded and makes big power.

We are easy on the time but think 9am sharp might be best to get through all the cars and hopefully have a bit more time for small testing or changing. What you think Adam?

Big arse zed is 70mm wider wheel track than R33 GTR and Jack that is gold. Like poker raise then all in raise over the top. Lots of pics

Plenty of parking right out the front of UAS as most of the businesses are closed here on Sat so can line up 50 out the front easy and more down the side. Should be a huge day like the last one, so unfortunatley prob not enough time to do much with tuning etc although can do a little tickle here and there. We will be ruled by Abo Bob and other SAU organisers. We will do or not do pretty much what they say.

That tip extra extension is stage two noise suppression device. Roy ulterior motives hey. "Yeah John go for it all good, go for it don't change anything." Yeah right. LOL. Big thanks for your help with the tip fitting. You are a better man than me, I don't think I could turn up to an event like this with out having a go. Turbox the boys in the house we were staying at had this but I never had a chance to have a go on it as arrived Fri night a 10pm and straight to bed after driving 12 hours or so. I have it at home but can't get excited about it. Played it once when we got it a year ago Oran Park track but I like the real thing only.

Conditions were ideal and the way the car it was prob a second or so in improved driving if had more time in the car as only did 14 laps. With knowledge of the track and learning the lines and with better set up a few more seconds. I realised with so much speed and grip and g forces the shocks were not coping and unloaded and wobbled a bit and unsettled and I should have adjusted harder. I realised this late in the day as I was getting quicker, and mentioned this to Roy. I had shocks set for much lower speed and bumpy Wakefield track. With so much happening and trying to keep it quiet and my session was up I just went with it. Lot of much slower traffic also and I actually passed a Datsun Fairlady convertible on the fastest lap which didn't slow it up too much. I also need to learn how to use the boost controller properly as my mechs are usually with me to fly all this stuff as it was only on 19 psi and could have gone up to 23psi for the straight. Normal boost this day was only 16psi. Temps still get up though as water temp got up to 94c which is still fine but did surprise me, although on the loud peddle for such a long time most of the track especially coming onto the straight and then long straight. Yes this GIO GTR is still and awesome machine and well built and with good driver would have been much faster than my car, especially with slicks if not old? I did check with the organisers at the start of the day if he was a good driver and knew the track, which they said he certainly did. He obviously was not pushing the car hard other than the straight although probably not on high boost? This is the first time I have used the push to pass button and will be giving it a big go at Wakefield for Auto Salon Circuit Battle Fridday 27th April and with this and other improvements should do a 1 min 5.

Here it is Roy and yes awesome car. I learnt a lot from Phil Ryal who put it together. It had Renault F1 Turbo's with Inconell rear housings and made over 1200hp on engine dyno at 2.2 bar although ran around 800hp racing. Did a 40.9 Oran South and I think high 129 at Eastern Creek and 203mph down Conrod.

OK and thought so and do you happen to know websites or I just search and find. Email me maybe Andrew if have any info. I am keen and lot of others to get to this track again later in the year for a big track day. You guys are so lucky to have this awesome track.

Yuck cost more and harder to get to than Eastern Creek. Eastern Creek have HEAPS of track days at least one a month. What was the track day you guys did at P I the Sat before Easter as not on their callender or are you guys special?

I am waiting for reply to my email sent to PI Sprint Sectretary yesterday to see if any other days or events or anything we may be able to work in with. What about L2S private practice days?

I just sent an email to Phillip Island Sprint Secretary asking how we may be able to run a day or fit in with a sprint day etc.

Yuck and it was sounding so good. Thought there might have been more to this with Sat practice which usually means Race as in bumping guards on the Sunday. Any other event suitable at P I? Don't mention any other tracks. My car and mainly me have a lot more in it as can handle lots more boost, especially on the button for the straight. Plus have wider rims and tyres for rear coming and need to adjust the shocks firmer as this track is so smooth as so fast I should have realised as it was a bit wobbly. Turn one at the end of the day nearly chucked me off as she unloaded big time. I had the Tein Flex set for Wakefield goat track soft. Times for the day below.

So Jack is this the Island Magic as it is called? Weekend of 24th Sat practice and Sunday race, and 95db noise limit? If so and can get enough spots for 20 or so cars then this is the go?

Better get a BIG boost button or Ben form Race Pace to beat me. Roy if we orchistrate in advance when there is a day on and or are there SAU organised track days at P I? I am sure we can organise a day and get some zed bait for you guys. Maybe some Silvias also?

Had a top time. Best Track in the WORLD. FACT. Super Fast, nice scenery, scary and G forces. That banked left coming on the straight and lining up the Group A GIO Bathurst R32 GTR then giving it the button made my day. Will post up the link to vid soon. Big thanks to Troy and Jack for helping me as would not have done it without the help and advice. You can really push your car hard at this track. I now know I need to adjust the shocks harder and can run the car lower as NO BUMPS at all on this super smooth track. She unloaded on turn one with the G forces from super grip and I nearly went sailing in HMAS Zed Boat. Must organise a BIG Nissan event as next Dat Nissan Nats’ are two years away and up in Qld. Very impressive drive Troy and Jack, and not sure about any other times but these boys stood out it seems? Love the vids too, and will put on our site for others to see. I will also put it on the Zed forum to rev some fo the guys up as we are on there this Easter Sat for the Datsun Nissan Nationals. You guys sure have set the yard stick. Very handy to learn the track as I have never been there. Troy looks like you are riding a wild horse. What suspension do you have?

They fit S13 same as Skyline we have already fitted. On Sat trial fitted to Beer Baron's car and will need to make totally different for R32 GTR which has alower ball joint right where the air shoorts at middle of the rootor so might make a bigger one to shoot air here as well as above this. Also needs a bracket to secure to one of the radius rod bolts.

Actually makes a bit over 300rwkw on NOS and around 250rkw. He is a good driver. Don't under estimate a zed.

Yep soon. Also someone mentioned they had DS2500 and did not last and gone to DS3000. You must have a very quick car and brake real hard and got way too hot and car is heavy and or did not bed pads in properly, which will shorten life of any race pad and or have no brake ducting or or deflectors, and still have factory backing plates and cooked them?
