1. I take that as a complement of our advancement rather than lack of credability from the past, you cheaky thing ? They were designed by an engineer and ex V8 Supercar mech and myself. They will not ware out unlike ducting alone as with tyre wear adn contstant up and down motion fo suspension it wears out. Ducting can be added to point at deflector for added flow. They were manufactured in bulk by a huge laser cutting company and Tig welded and then annodised black. These fit R32, R33, R34 GTS-T and Stagea will be doing the GTR's next. R33 and R34 GTR V Spec have a factory version and Nismo make some also a bit bigger but many hundreds of dollars. Also for track cars recommend removing factory disk backing plate.
2. Brake cooling by with ducting and or air deflectors, Lots of cars go to the track even with larger brakes and expensive pads etc but no cooling. Like this GTR which has something now. In pic below has stainless cable ties and stianless a Alen key bolt and washer and a locking nut. Pic below is fitted to R33 GTS-T but did not have the stainless bolts at the time. Nissan have a hole ready to go on lower front control arm, but not used, on the car, as if waiting for an after market titem to be fitted. We designed it with turned up edges to trap the air and force into the middle of the rotor which is how race cars cool brakes, forcing air into middle of the rotor. V8 Supercars have a carbon fibre cone fed with ducting. With this airdeflector it will help mainly at high speed at the track and reduce temps a lot. Testing on roads are our shop on Rob's R33GTS-T fitted on one side only, and not high speed as max was only 80ks, with a heat gun it improved temps by about 10%. I expect it to be much better at high speed on the track.
3. For information of members and guests Unique Auto Sports have recently moved to Unit 1 No 20 Tucks Road Seven Hills. Phone 02 9620 9000. We bought the place here and have done it up nice over last few months. The out goings are half repayments compared to the cost of renting where we were and we will own it one day. Also lots of our suppliers are over here and lots of motor sports workshops, fabrication shops and machine shops for us to work with. It is fast becoming the centre of performance workshops etc for Sydney. Our new location and building is a nice set up and great for dyno days as lots of parking and most other businesses around here are not open on Saturdays. Dyno room is not finished yet but operating and will be awesome when finished. With twice the fan extraction as the last one, and much quieter as has big exhaust collector and sound absorbing insulation in ducting up to the big three phase fans on the roof. The dyno room will be all sound insulated also. We believe we will be more efficient here and offer better service to support SAU members.
4. My zed is on display there for the circuit battle event. Two dynos set up looked impressive.
5. Yep stinking hot and not good for traction or power. Most cars were a second or so off normal times. New SEMI slicks street legal dot which I did 4 laps to cure. Then left for an hour and then went out to do time which is one warm up or not quite then timed then cool down which is hard to get in the groove. Then stayed off the track as only wanted to do timed lap being so hot as in high 30's. After lunch did a 1 min 7.6. Bottom line is grip felt as good if not better as the old slicks I often use with same conditions. That MX5 was quick especially cornering, I think he actually did a 1 min 5 although may not have been in official timing which was only two separate laps of timing. No not much track time then photos in afternoon and all wound up early around 3.30pm. It is on today also for another 16 odd new cars. My love boat will be at Auto Salon display for circuit battle event.
6. We are all ready to go. Even bought expensive semi slicks Bridgestone RE55 rear and Dunlop D02 front and no I could not get a matching set. Will see what happens tomorrow. You going Giant??
7. Yes we do braided lines street legal and custom race stuff and everything in between. Re braking and fade and stopping power etc you can have the biggest brakes and rippa pads but need ducting and or deflectors for cooling which I notice lots of cars don't have and NEED and why we are releasing these alloy deflectors soon.
8. Charels from Auto Salon says 29th is for new entrants and reserved some spots for SAU and those who were in the first one go on the 28th. Shame not same day but sounds like will be popular event. Seems liekt eh Hoosier tyres are a no so have to get my cheque book out and at least there won't be any confusion or suspected advantage. I will probably get the RE55's which I just checked are in stock 295 or 315 if will fit my car on rear and 265 front.
9. I don't know although we can send to you cheaper probably anyway and we supply a lot of SAU track guys. Email me [email protected] or call 02 9634 8000. They have just gone up in price accross Australia in last month to $292 Rec Retail for the DS2500 and from memory $375 for DS3000 fro 4 spot Nissan and a bit more for Brembo but we do better than that even though stuff all margin in them. On the subject of brakes we will shortly have brake deflectors available that will also help a lot as only V Spec GTR and late model zeds come with this and much needed to help cool rotors. Lots of guys put big brakes on their cars and go to the track with now ducting or deflectors and still run way too hot.
10. Top weather at Eastern Creek and a great line up of some tough GTR's and some other exotic race cars including that Ferrari F1 car from the past. Hope to do it again next year? Great to catch up with everyone. Heaps of good pics there Paul, actually a HUGE amount and can I use some on my site??
11. SBS are good althogh they squeal. EBC ware out way too fast, FULL STOP. Ferodo DS2500 are a great road pads and very good track pad and don't usually squeel at all and last a long time and well priced. DS30000 even better and what I use although more a race pad and not so good cold on road cars.
12. Hey Roy have custom Tein Flex at the moment and yes have trialed a few. Also 4 engines and various turbo set ups, about 4 sets of brakes and numerous suspension set ups. Mainly to test, but also with budget in mind, and as Toyota say, " We race we learn, YOU win. We get to know what works and what doesn't and what to recommend and what not to. Re Circuit Battle, I hope it works as promote motorsport and a good idea and a lot easier and cheaper form of motorsport than expensive dollars wise and time wise series of racing, such as improved production or similar catagories. I think it fills a bit of a void and should be a goer, and we will support it and help promote it.
13. Yep I am in for this one and no good re Hoosiers now I have to spend twice the money on RE55 or Dunlop DJ01 and may or may not be faster?? Where does it say they are banned??? I will still run a min 5 with our set up now as good gains in set up of car since I did a 1 min 6 .57 previous
14. My Zed Love Boat did a 10.709 139.67mph WSID. http://www.nismo.com.au/ProjectZed/john10709time.jpg
15. Huge fire started in the hoby shop and appears dodgy wiring from previous tenants started it. Doubling up multiple double adapters in a sealed front cabinet. The intense heat actually bent huge RSGs where the main fire was in the hoby shop which relocated early this year to the opposite end of the building upstairs. Our office was fairly dry from water from above just wet on floor there so lucky I guess. Paul your car was one of the first out. Late yesterday have the phones working although operating from dyno room. Showroom power should be up today and workshop not too far behind. Our side of the building is OK structrally although may be some distruption whilst building above. The engineers are coming today to check it out and advise and a chance they may have to fence it all off which will be very bad. So phones working, fax working, and workshop operating in part out of dyno room mainly, until power comes back on. Orders being processed from today. Thanks for everyones support. We will only be bigger and better after this and keep smiling.
16. lingeringsoul. Drive both seems the go.
17. I had the best fun in this Corsair. Almost as much fun as passing GTR's at the track. Waiting......... Such a contrast for everyone and nice to know even if blows up or something disasterous goes wrong it does not cost anything, even for me as I have written it off and virtually owes me nothing accept fuel and maintenance, unless it gets major then off to the wreckers for scrap. Official times from first in the car. Phil 146.14 Steve 142.77 Adam 140.70 with an extra cheat lap after missing a gear and grabbing first was it over the bridge and nearly left gear box behind and as expected though a good drive. Then a big oil down around most of th track from a sports sedan Paul 146.90 John straight after 140.61 Later Phill improved to a 1 43 something and Paul after oil cleared a lot on track 139.87 yet to be confirmed by clerk of the coarse and out of the event. Then ran out of day and no one else had a chance for improvement of their time. Rematch apples for apples next track day should be hilarious action again. I almost dragged the door handles on some corners and top fun.
18. I am in with Corsair driver challenge car and slot car for testing as changed suspension settings for testing.
19. Oh I did not know it was for interstate only. Do I call myself a Victorian, or do I say I am bait for interstate GTR's. I know it is reserved with ARDC which I confirmed personally. The only thing is with no money down and previous experience you need to make sure those who are saying they are definitely coming are actually coming. How many are confirmed? Preview of the action on the straight from a previous track day. VIDEO
20. Yep the red carpet will be out for you guys and no silly talk I am impressed with you guys and your track times. Eastern Creek will be a huge even by the looks of it. I don't think you guys Also I am looking forward to meeting Ben Race Pace and show and tell and discuss. Roy your 1 min 56 would beat probably 80% of the GTR's times in Sydney. EC is an awesome and fast track lots of run off and generally a safe track although not as safe as Wakefield. By the way most if not all the Sydney gang will be doing Eastern Creek only.
21. Silver- Arrowz absolute top quality pics I am impressed, really. I would like to use some pics on our site if OK including that in your face black R34 thing. Snowman yes 1 30's is quick and will lose the anchor on the love boat and then we party. You realise even 1 min 39 is like a 1 min 4 or less at Wakefield.
22. Yes big thanks to Adam for doing all the groud work. Also when you get a good diff in your car you will be much quicker and might upset a few GTR owners in town.
23. Jason ZX2NV not slicks semi slicks DOT but not street legal, and don't give these SAU boys amo re tyres. Either way bloody good time. My fisrt day at Eastern Creek back in 98 I think it was with my stock standard R33 GTS-T was 2 min flat. Yes I owned a GTS-T back when no one else did.
24. Beer Baron 2 way 20 plate was all they had but looking into modding this one to be 1.5 way can't get 1 way 20 plate.
