BIG NEWS Duncan Handley makes the podium!!
Boosted Zed replied to Beer Baron's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Fly that flag Duncan well done and I am impressed. I might loook at you different from now on. I have been busy and have not been on the forum much sorry for the late well done. Beer Baron was at the SAU drag day and told me you were running that arfternoon. It was very tempting to come out but playing Grand Turismo 6 days a week and only Sunday family day well it is hard. I would rather be driving as you would understand like tomorrow at E Creek in the slot car for a Supersprint. -
RB25 Stainless V StockExhaust Manifolds
Boosted Zed replied to Boosted Zed's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Not HKS or Greddy some fo these no name brands from OS. Some of the Jap ones may be better although could be worse too. HKS are nice but have seen some yucky Greddy ones although they were for a zed very rough welded and had jagged edges inside. -
RB25 Stainless V StockExhaust Manifolds
Boosted Zed replied to Boosted Zed's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The goo works and seeing is believing as slightly bigger but much smoother. Also re before and after if high he does not pump that one as much as takes the time and interest to not lonly flow more but try and get more even. -
Note in this case it is not conclusive with flow figures and real results as with factory log style manifolds one runner feeds into another and although firing order is well apart at high rpm contamination from one can effect another. Although same deal applies as in cast iron does not crack or radiate heat as much as stainless and cannot be HPC coated. Although top mount staino has big bling factor. As tested on flow bench test showing CFM at 25 inches of water. Stainlo high mnt.. Stainlo low mount.. Stock.. *OFFICIAL* SAUNSW Drag Day Wrap-Up - Times and Pics!
Boosted Zed replied to NXTIME's topic in New South Wales
Yep fish tailing down the track got a few and should have mentioned this. I think I just created a lot of work for myself. Lucky I am an enthusiast hey. I can't remember any other cars I captured but will check and let anyone else know. I was not there that long and went home frustrated, I find it hard to watch rathe have a go. -

Booted it over the line Paul well done. I have some of your runs on vid but left prior to your 10.3 which is a shame but then I guess you don't plan on staying there long? Where are all the other GTR's in NSW as I only saw yours Paul flying the flag? Slot car had issues on the dyno Sat night finally found out one of the 044 pumps was making noise but no flow and a few other things so unfortunately could not make it. 2rismo maybe I could not see it in this thread what was your best time and yes I have vid of your burnout and a few runs, email me and I can send it to yoiu. -

We must line up if nothing else for the video and camera's. You will probably smash me as so far on dyno this engine only made 340rwkw with new circuit set up so probably only a 11 second. The door is open Paul. Take it. -

Paul if you don't run a 10 now I will shoot you. Only joking, I will dis own you, bad luck has run out, time to do it. No pressure. If not you should buy a zed and come over to the cardigan brigade. -
Yes the gasket is stainless steel and sits a little in from the edge.

I am in for it and a great idea as the Easter the Zed Nationals at Wakefild and it was a huge success with show and Shine and Track Events on different days or could do same day. At the the SAU Show and Shine I was kinda frustrated walking around all that horse power without getting out to press the loud peddle. I am sure catering for both would be a hit as it was at Easter. We can get Wakefiled or Oran no probs or with more planning and longer and harder to book we could get E Creek which I have already put my name down a few months back for a Sunday next year have to wait until around January to get a date as the big boys get preference.

I should ask James from Abrasive Flow as he match ports to head and turbo and extrude hones the GTR exhaust manifolds and mathces to turbo. I know he opens up the exhaust manifolds a bit going into the turbo.

We have only done 25 and 26's on the block were the oil filter housing attatchs, I know there are two and others in the block and heads can't remeber exactly where as my mechs do it not me. There are heaps in VG30's but won't mention those nuggets here though.

Mark you need help and I think you would be taken away and banned if you tried that, like bowling along the ground last over in a limited over cricket match. Yes Adam thanks for remminding me about those irritatingly fast rotaries which are in a different league. -

Kick away and at least I am not just beer talking. Fell off my chair 2rismo. Yes the cardigan wearing clan hey. -
Recently we have checked a few stock turbo's as well as one after market turbo and noticed the flange of the turbo is smaller than the flange of the exhaust manifold both stock and bling staino ones. So the gases rushing out fo the engine through the manifold hit a big edge of the turbo flange. Not good. Might we worth checking and grinding out and match porting if you are changing turbo's or having it off for any work. See the pics as we found 2 to 3 mm gap. We found this by simply doing a test not suspecting anything and actually suprised to see how bad the overlap was. We found this problem by carefully tracing out the turbo flange and cutting out of card board and laid it over the exhaust manifold and it became very obvious. With this edge jutting out if would make a difference to flow as would create a lot of turbulence especially at high revs. To fix this all you need to do is remove the turbo exhaust housing and mark out and match port to suit. FREE POWER. Will check GTR turbo's asap.

Hey Ben that sounds the go same as grub screwing the crank. I thought you would be on top of this one. The factory ones when lock tighted in won't come out by themselves even with higher pressure but doesn't hurt to over engineer them. You guys are the exception from what I have seen and heard though as many customers, workshops and machine shops don't bother removing them at all. One can check their receipt as long as it is detailed should have them itemised. Same as some customers have had their clutches changed but not spigot bushes which should be and not invoiced for them and then wonder why they develop a vibration. This is more rare but seen it a few times.

Got it and silly me. I guess this is a WISD restriction re spectators for some reason and a shame we can't have more there. Yes I had filled it out and sent to Adam. Hey Duncan only worth watching a zed when it smashes Skylines. -
Good to hear Geoff and I am wondering where they got them from? As it may be able to get non genuine ones but being so cheap from Nissan I wonder why anyone would, and needing to accurate size wise etc I wonder if theyare right?

The Zed/GTR will be out flexing it's muscles, hope there are some decent GTR's out on this day as last one it had no competition? Are zed spectators aloud or is it a closed shop? -
You may not want to know this if you recently had your motor rebuilt. If you have had an engine rebuilt recently did you have these removed when you had block bored, honed, decked then cleaned and then properly refitted? If you did not then it is like blowing into a bottle and impossible to clean the block properly, especially if bored and honed as small bits of metal filings will remain in the oil galleries. I was shocked to recently find that according to Nissan no one else in Australia seems to be buying them. We have been buying and replacing them for years with RB and VG engines when we rebuild them. They are not expensive but take more time to remove and refit them. No matter how much you clean a motor it will still have bits of metal go through it when you put oil in and run it and gets hot and eventually works it's way through the motor. The scarey bit is it can do damage before it makes it's way through to filter. If you are about to build a motor then make sure this simple yet very important little extra is done. Welsh plugs also should be changed too which for those that don't know they are the coolant block offs in the block. The oil gallery blanking plugs are same sort of thing only for oil and are in head and block.

All I will say lucky I did not bring the slot car, would have been very UNIQUE ang got all the trophies. At least there was one zed there frotn and centre that was nice. Like a fish out of water though. Seriously though it was VERY impressive day and Skylines RULE. Yesterday would have had to have been not only the BIGGEST collection and selection of Skylines in one place in Australia EVER but also for any Japanese imports. The biggest zed show and shine I think was Easter last year and around 45 cars. I brought up that nice black R34 GTR V Spec II thinking this might be something special and there were heaps of them there. Paul L I think those MADGTR number plates help make your car. I LUV it. Well done all round and glad to be part of this HUGE day. It was great to cacth up with lots of people and good to see B-Man there and getting another Skyline.
