Roy, UAS track days are for everyone. I have been accused of over favouring GTR's in the past, this was from a few of the zed guys. This was because we had 12 GTR's at the track one time and they get their own sessions along with race cars. This day will sort out the men from the boys. I would not speak too soon as I have a good customer Gary who has owned a heap of GTR's, and is very experienced at the track. He has also done quite a few Targa's. He was the guy who drove the white N1 set up R33 GTR a few years back that ended up a tree, and him in hospital. The following year he wrote off another R32 GTR, head on into a tree. He is a good driver but has a big go. This year he is not doing Targa and put his effort into beat me at this track day. He has accumulated lots of good bits out of his 3 R32 GTR's and put them into one to make an awesome track car. Featuring Holinger sequential gear box which is good for at least a second a lap. He say more like 2. Big motor with 2540's and forged internals etc and 350kw at all 4. Stripped out with cage, big brakes etc. He is not beer talk. Will be very interesting. His fastest time was 106 .95 with the sequential box in the R33 N1 GTR. His new current race R32 GTR should do better than this. It will need to. Tosh ( SW20 ) was over today and has has seen what we are doing. Last year the Zed was stadard internals and not too many mods but now it is full on now. We are running S15 turbos in the "Franken Zed "which are same HP rating as N1 spec so still can compare I guess, but yes lots of other things. It is again getting more like a GTR as now has Tomei RB26 solid lifters to add to the GTR bits in it. I might Add Geoff from SSS Automotive will be out in his Gibson powered R32 GTR and has done more mods including better brakes and gear box, and will be in there. Joe also from SSS Automotive might be there with his well over 400kw at wheels R32 GTR. Power is not everything though.

Now Merli dont scare them off too hard. Sounds like beer talk though. It is only a zed after all. Blitz Why don't you show get your GTR out and waste the zed???? Sorry to hear Duncan won't be out there, can't wait though will be big. By the way 107.7 last at Wakefield. We are currently doing lots of mods to it, things that will drop times. Motor not in the car yet but will be next week. By the way I need another mechanic, good one if anyone knows of any, email or call direct. Roy you will get in plenty of ten minute sessions as it will be almost non stop all day, with a drift session in the middle for half an hour. There is a case of Beer or V for any GTR or GTS-T that can beat the zed on the day, as well as a trophy. And a full admission on SAU and the ZEd forum that I got wooped by a Skyline. Even a handicap for tyres. Road tyres 2 secs semi slicks 1 sec. I will be running very second hand slicks. I will be having a V early in the day ( my third in my life ) SHWING, so I don't want to here any excuses about this. I estimate half a second improve in every bottle. But double the dose NOT double the benefit unless it is drift contest. Yes Blitz it works on old guys too.
-
Yes I plan on doing the same. Double wammy. As long as my zed survives. Might take another set of tyres.

Sunday 16th of May at Wakefield. It is on again and this one will be far the most hotly contested events we have run. There are lots of GTR's out there that really want to have a go and knock me of the fence and beat my zed. ZED V's GTR challenge. This track suits 4WD so it should be interesting. I know of three guys who are very good drivers and have full race car R32 GTR's that I suspect will give my slot car a real challenge. Terry who owns the GIO Gibson GTR said he will be bringing it. No track experience necessary and it is a very safe track. Always a big turn out of GTR's and GTS-Ts. Free to come watch, or if you want to have a go. We will have events caller, transponders in each car for timing, trophies and a short drift comp in the middle of the day. , details and entry form on our site. Short Vid of GTR's http://gtr.com.au/movies/wakefield.mpeg

It was very impressive. Not that I had doubts but when I arrived and saw the amount and caliber of cars, and out of Sydney so took some effort well, it was class. Well done and must do it again maybe make it annual and in Sydney next time and bound to get many more.

Have sponsored a few nice things already. V always goes down well. I have had two in my life and they have some punch, at least for oldies like me, although young at heart. One at our last years stock take sale, WACKO nearly blew my head off. The second was when I did that 48.36 at Oran Park donated by my towie on the way to the track. He says got two for price of one so I reluctantly tipped those chemicals down my throttle body and, SHWING. I felt like twenty again. I was all wound up then had a few technical issues with the car to get through scrutineering before they let me at em after lunch. Maybe this weekend coming could be number three. Hmmm V drinks young guys tough Skylines in a bunch out of town, could be a potent mix.
-
Bring your forms. I am involved in lots of forums and SAU seems to be the biggest and the best, and way more members users etc than the zed forum and I think all others actually. As you know big part of our biz and I have been Skyline enthusiast prob longer than any or at least most on this forum, so about time. Christian and others have done a great job, I really mean it. Has anyone warned Gosford of the population increase over the weekend of V drinkers with flash sports cars? PS I will look after the boys in blue if they turn up. Total D....heads not protected though.
-
UAS will be there and will leave the zed at home which is in bits anyway. Will be bringing a tough R33 GTR. I have been telling lots of customers about it so should be a good day. Sign me up Blitz.

Good I hope they do as too many shoulda guna meetings. I hope to see more out there, not just beer talk. Gary Burchet who owns three R32 GTR's and put the best of all three into his Targa GTR. He is very keen to rub my nose right in it, at our next track day. It is N1 spec and he has a Hollinger sequential in it so should have a big go. Big target on my Slot Car. -

OK so it is a N1 spec GTR with bigger turbo's. Do you know what power it makes? Duncan are you geting or have a GTR now? Marks car, who? Give me a call when you can. -

Zeds in Taga. I was not aware of any of late only John Whites zed about four years ago did very well, was in top three at one point late in the event before a speed penalty and acco. The only zed in it and beat ALL the GTR's which there are normally quite a bunch. This car was very well prepared. It did suprise me though as more of a a 4wd event I would think. Also this car was 2 seater which is not as good for traction as too short in the wheel base. Down low grunt helps on some of these twisty roads. Duncan what are you doing to yours? -

Was that a Skyline stop watch? He He. I bet there is more to the story of this guy is a super freak driver with a well set up car indeed. Who was this guy? I will be getting the barge arse out again especially if I have been knocked off the fence, or if this time is real then THROWN off. A full second faster. Yes we are pumping up the zed slot car with twin S15 turbo's, custom cams and ported heads with solid lifters etc. Alloy fuel tank, and taken the stereo and speakers, heater core etc out. I have reved up a lot of our GTR customers and our next track day will be hotly contended. Sun 16th May Wakefield. -
Initial results / tune - HKS 3040
Boosted Zed replied to B-Man's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Laggy compared to a zed, YES. Compared to a GTR not so much. We have over layed dyno graphs from GTR's we have recently done and one with N1 turbo's and Tomei cams etc was a little more responsive low in revs, but not much. B- Mans Skyline had more mid range and top end. With more to tune yet. Single Trubo with higher comp than RB26. -
I have read briefly through this long involved back and forth and appoligise if I double up on things already covered. Firstly we sell and recommend both Pwr FC and Microtech for different reasons and cater for customer’s preference. If I had a GTS-T though and was a performance road car I would go the Microtech. If not a plug in as both now are it would be a different story. A couple of things there has been some talk of AFM and calibrating according to air density and flow to adjust for hot days etc. In theory this happens but in reality it DOES not adjust enough. We have tuned plenty of cars with P FC on a cool day and no probs and first hot day that comes along they can ping, so we have to tune them for a hot day basically so on cold days guess what? They don't have as much power as a Microtech. Microtech has more options such as head up display which is like R34 GTR as in t presets on boost, revs, inlet temp etc and it gives display and flashes to warn you. The new option with Pwr FC by the way DJetro does away with AFM as does the new Tomei Reytec that also has a great feature where you can download base settings for certain cars and features which can save a lot of time. Microtech are easier to tune and data log and more functions such as cam advance adjustment etc and from our experience Microtech are more reliable. As Roy mentioned I think they have come a long way and Microtech especially with their new model and fine settings of injector drivers etc will be up there in a way with Autronic and Motec for much less cost. Autronic and Motec however have a automatic built in equasion or algerythim that works out manifold pressure and inlet temp and ajust timing accordingly and possibly fuel although not sure on this. They are a bit better in this way but cost heaps more and not plug in. Another point is the inlet temp as sensed by AFM and volume of oxygen molecules is one thing, but then it goes through a turbo and intercooler of various sizes and efficiency so it is more important to measure manifold pressure and temps? As mentioned Microtech are cheaper when considering having to upgrade to 300ZX AFM. The Pwr FC has good points to though such as the nock sensor ( reminder that it is not coping with hot day ) and integrates with factory dash lights etc and if you have hand controller read outs and knock meter etc I would rather have a mounted nice dash display though. Good man Nathan as I know they are doing it tight on their track days with some of their days and rained out cancellation fees etc. If we are not carefull there will be few if any days to go to. I know the super Sprint series next year may not be running due to lack of funds and demand. We are in same boat as last track day ran at a big loss.

Did someone say key board warriors? I know what it is like organising people for events including track days and throw in V drinkers that do moslty talk and well? Lesson learnt and those who put their hand up and Paul put his name and money on the line, well, naughty naughty, and hope this never happens to you it is not nice or fair. I might add I was wanting to go but I heard it was totally full. You always have to allow for those who don't turn up so over book is the go as well as getting deposits but I guess you did this and people just did not come through after saying they would and sounds like way more than normal. 321GO Drift maniach I would have punted you off with may wash for sure as my big heavy zed makes a big wake.
-
Lucky my zed boat wasn't there with all that water would have been in it's element and showing you skyliners how to do the water thing.
-
Yes a stock GTS-T and a Zed might be close. A stock GTR will smash a stock Zed but moded as we know or at least I do it is a different story. Zed brakes are crap, diff is a slushbox also heavy boats. Roy how could you forget. Yes MR2 was fast don't know of times and it was running hot so they took it easy.
-
It was a big day started off with the Gastapo keeping things honnest although a little rude checking cars as they were entering the track just outside and handing out coloured stickers and notices even if you didn't want them. Paul from BD4's can show some. Kinda like sitting off the local pub and breath testing which is considered dirty pool. There were heaps of cars and with the V8 Supercars setting up for weekend it was busy and a lot of people about. Roy or other motorsports fans read this next bit. skyline fans sorry. I did a 1 min 49.2 with a skyline stop watch as in Skyline owner timing, he he. Best GTR time was BD4s with Warren Luff with passenger did a 1 min 52 although there was a lot of cars so traffic, and bit of rain so hard to know. Owner of the R33 monster GTR was timed at 1 min 56 although not sure how good a driver he is. Lets just say my case of beer or V is still safe for now. PS My new big carbon rear wing helps and suspension sorted it is sweet now.

Boosted Zed replied to Boosted Zed's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
You and your Skyline must be a freak as faster than Warren Luffs times if real? Even if was a 51 something still daylight off low 48s or make that 47's next time out or I will give it away. Does anyone happen to know when there is another day at Oran with proper timing equip, not Akira with a stop watch? This will be lots of fun and interesting. Bring it on Duncan, or any of you guys that want to step out from behind your key boards and have a go. Duncan I don't know how you plan or dream of beating the fat slot car, as last time out your Skyline was miles off the ZED pace at Eastern Creek? You might need to go to the air force auctions and buy one of those jet thrusters they use on the hercs and get some strong roof racks. Is it cheating to have a V on tap in the my zed, you know one of those clear plastic hoses? -

Sounds like some beer talk or maybe the V drink is flowing. The bull stops when it's track time. After running four track days at Oran I have never seen a GTR do less than 50 secs with out lots of mods and top driver, and very few do that. GTS-T never has done this or even close. I know one of our customers came out once who is a very good driver and in his 97 GTR with boost, big wheels yet road tyres and suspension mods did a 50.75 sec. Duncan I know you are good driver yet can't see 51 secs anywhere? Actual times as per below shows you did a 53.21? Which is very good time and big improvement on earlier year where you did a 55.20. Long way from 51 must have been a huge tail wind or a mate timing? Healthy reving up and challenging is a good thing keep going might get a few out to the track instead of behind their keyboards. Check out these times from our last Oran day and keep in mind the best time being Bruces GT3 with race exhaust and suspension and cage not sure what else. It was actually Warren Luff driving which we forgot to tell time keeper and they just see a helmet go past. ZED and GTR Challenge
Boosted Zed replied to Boosted Zed's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Now that is better getting some of you guys reved up to have a go. Duncan I here what you are saying and should do etc but big difference to get a car under 50 secs from a 51secs for example. Like drag racing and running 11 secs and then trying to do 10.5 only half a second but. Maybe none of these GTR drivers can drive but I think they can. Warren Luff drove a GTS-T as on Serious Performance Video No 5. The car had around 180kw at wheels so had a lot of mods including whiteline suspension etc did a 51 with Warren driving, which was the fastest. With Warren driving Barry's standard GTS-T with 17 inch wheels did a 55.6. Duncan is your GTS-T stock thing? runs semi slicks not the standard bike tyres, and suspension or stock, stock? Also re times it needs to be properly timed not just a mate with a stop watch. Was your 51 at oneof our days? Hey Duncan you might do a 47 sec or better in my car? Goes to show a good driver with better tyres even in sort of standard car can beat modified cars. Moding cars is a whole new story as not just always better unless done right. Bigger turbo's can be better but not always. Yes my zed has standard actually second hand .54 AR exhaust housings and manuals have .63 exh which are another 20 or so hp. My zed does have lots fo mods though including extrusion honed plenum and larger throttle bodies etc The car is not registered but keep fishing. OK I give up, if you want me to say at UAS we do some real trick stuff and get boats to beat GTR's and I am an unreal driver as well? -
I had to say it, the new beast looks like a zed.

Boosted Zed replied to Boosted Zed's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yes it has 305 slicks rear end 245 front. The rear were very warn though. Left overs from Johnathon Web who uses them on his GT3 Tekno Motorsports race car. He tells me they are about a sec slower than when they are new and I had done a day at Eastern Creek in them prior to day at Oran and basically I think worse than road tyres on the day. The other GTR's either had slicks or at worst semi slicks which would have been better than what was on my rear that day as lots of wheel spin. My zed makes 263 kw at the wheels on Opti Max and yes I was using World Rally fuel on the day, which is nothing fantastic only 102 ron but got some cheap. I had timing cranked up about another 5 degrees and felt like lots more power so may have been 280kw at wheels. Before you wonder or go there yes the other GTR's at Oran Park track days were doing same or some run much higher octane fuel. The original post was to throw out the challenge to get more to the track to have a go with, and to make a point of interest. I can clearly understand how it may not fit with certain beleifs not so much that GTR's are untouchable but Zeds are boats and owned by those who wear cardigans and smoke a pipe. Bottom line, if I did exact same mods to a GTR or GTS-T with same conditions etc with me driving, so apples for apples, at best it would do a 49 sec. I challenge anyone to get a GTR under 50 secs with standard turbo's no matter what else you do to it. Also S15s set up well with good driver are also real condenders. If you are wondering how my lap times were reduced by almost two seconds a lap since last track day at Oran it was mainly due to custom dual Eibach springs which are much softer than the Tein HA's which I had in rear and way too heavy. Front are still too heavy but not too bad and saving up for them. I also did not have a V last track day. Merli or others looking forward to future track days. If you want more details check link. -
