Fine with me Nick, re pot stirring.

Why would I run a less reliable motor and hang more cylinders over the front of cross member? It has a lot of gtr parts including in the engine but I would never ptu an RB in it. waiting...... We are working on a VQ30 which will be a 3.8 litre adn alloy block and 210kg compared to VG30DETT 310kg. Adjustable to get on trailer easier as I wind it up and yes for track depends on the track I can wind it lower and get slight more angle. Definitely noticed the difference and the main to only change I did when I went back to Philip Island last year in October, as I was there pre splitter and air dam in Easter, and I noticed much more down force on the front, and yes Ican feel it. I actuall needed to remove the front Carbon fibre Kennard’s in testing on the Sat prior to timed event on the Sunday to balance the car out. Next we will be making some GT 500 style rack off side skirts and looking at doing some rear aero on side of rear bar, like the German touring cars. Maybe I should just buy Russ and Marks R32 GTR… Hmmm I like a challenge though.

Luv the fats curve balls. Re aero yes made an alloy rear under tray from in front of the diff back and rear diffuser with director plates and 4 small vortex generators under the car at the leading edge of diffuser, for less drag, and keep air attached to the high sloping rear diffuser for more down force. Also cut out rear bar a bit to let air out form rear wheels and air ducted at the diff for cooling. Also cut bottom few inches of rear bar for better transition of air leaving the car and will be adding VG's under there also. Front, we made a Carbon Kevlar under tray with air dam 50mm tapered up rise and has trip strips ( not in pic) in front of the wheels and along the edge of air dam to prevent turbulence form the wheels and help air dam work better. Also made a front splitter with FRP and adjustable supports. See here for more. Slot Car Link We also cut away bottom of the guards behind front wheels to let air out, removed plastic splash guards under the front guards, and opened up the holes leading into the rear of the engine bay to help air to exit. We also pumped the guards out a bit to help air out but need to support this as I noticed it shaking down the straight, and pump it a bit more to help more air get out.

Hey Dirtgarage that Olive branch has got thorns on it. For someone trying to start a business of some sort you are digging a hole for yourself you are throwing so much dirt, and stop digging up guff.
-
Me a warning, are you a moderator now, far out. Sorry if I got it wrong and so I take it RedRacing is registered business and licensed with MVRA, how many partners do you have? If you throw unwarranted dirt in life you just lose ground yourself. Be friends.
-
Dirtgarage give it up will you backyard Bob, try hard, talk it up. Dirtgarage seems to stand for dirt slinger of others and claim to fame. It is a self image thing I guess. Everyone is sick of it and not in the good light. I don't claim to know everything unlike some. Failed cop unlikely but sounds good, I give everything I do 100% unlike others who bla bla. You don't have your business or semi backyard business registered, and have no qualifications? to work on cars, or engines. MVIRA take action with guys like you. So I would tread carefully I would think, rather than slandering most performance shops and people like you do, and get warned by moderators, who put up with a lot. Even attempting to insult John Boston on this forum asking him if he is stupid or illiterate. It is people like John and his many contacts that we really need and should appreciate. You are undermining the efforts most are doing to promote this Superlap deal, you probably have about the least experience in circuit racing yet the biggest voice, it is clasisc. Fun is fun but keep it clean will you and stop the insults and false claims and accusations.

These pesky Lotuses are out there a lot, and now ticking off some big guns, they might end up same fate as Farlap. Tell em not to go to USA and compete or they might get poison fuel or worse. Seriously though they obviously have an awesome car to start with, but still hats off to them as still top driving and set up and prep, it is no walk in the park. I am typing whilst waiting for vid to download and should be good.
-
Hey Dazmo your car looked the goods and tough as beer baron was trying to say, and a mate of Russ and quick time. Not all backyard bobs toot their own horn, your car and track times speak loudly. Also you were down for test day at Oran GP month or so back with Russ weren't you? All the way from qld and good effort.

World famous Zed Slot Car as they are yappin about it on twinturbo.net Cardy wearers forum in USA and the event. Check link Zed forum link Also talk about yappin this forum thread has got to be the biggest on record for SAU and probably most if not all other car forums, what do you say Duncan>???
-
Dirtgarage you should seruiously be offering your services to a Formula 1 team.
-
Nice vid Russ and it gets going out of corners well. I can't wait to see in car vid thea the Ignition DVD crew took with in car camera in the boat with Bozman driving, and sure to be handfull and taily compared to Marks drive.
-
Hmm is that a wish or a positve thought in hope or non standard? Re set up I have been lost numerous time, getting closer to the mark though after testing with pyro and driving the car and seeing how it goes with new suspesnion set up. I have read lots of books on race suspenion, spoke to lots of race engineers and utilised a few. Also had some good advice from Ben from Race Pace in Melbourne and Sydney Kid, also Graham from Fulcrum suspension, race drivers such as John Web and then Bozman drives it and confirms too hard springs in rear which I was aware of and ordered softer ones but could not get in time.
-
Yep they seem a good thing although have weak drive shafts and other issues. She was strong on the day, for sure. The alloy light weight engine is also way back in the engine bay. I wonder what time it would do on R compound tyres and a bit of weight out of it? Boz I just changed sig.

Hey BLitz were you out on Sat as did not see you? Yes VQ38 project went on hold with the fire above our old shop then the big move build new shop and big job and need more time and money to do. Will do hopefully next year. Tommo zed was actually down on power due to new suspension set up and rear springs being too hard and oversteering so much. We put race fuel in and turned up timing about half what we could have and car went slower. It would have been around 380rwkw on the boost button. So softer springs in rear and a few other changes we found we need to front end, such as less neg camber, and probably another second in according to Bozman. BTW what suspension and tyres was the S2000 running?? Tyre warming contest
-
Nice Bozman and I learnt a lot from watching you on the day and seeing pics like below and watching in car vid. Cutting Suttons and dog leg and hoping last bit of the ripple strip or kerb coming onto the straight, prob good for half a second? Getting that dogleg ripple strip in the middle fo the car is key thouhg as half doing it would chop the inside of rim and tyres I would think? Seeing and knowing and then doing is something else though. Cutting ripple strips Some good pics on LS1 forum would you believe. LS1 Superlap thread.

Not according to Superlap Website, or maybe error. I see Bill Nabin did a 1 21.37 in rotory something. Says on the site. Fastest Rotary – Mohammed Khan – RX-7
-
Results are here and for those wanting trophies, get a rotory, you can go backwards up the pit lane on your mobile phone, do the biggest smoke show on record, do a lazy 1 min 43.34 and still win. Can't complain about that. Check out Mohomad winner in his class in his RX7. Superlap Winners Natsoft Times. Down the bottm last at 87 position. Times

Yep good point and good point. Supporting workshops getting upset about engine swaps or slagging? I think Hi Octane are exaclty or closely following the rules of Japan and England etc? I am on long term project of putting a VQ38 in my car, which is Nissan 350 zed motor pumped with Darton sleave kit and 100mm pistons, so a very square revy motor, and about a hundred kg lighter.

FLop this is gold and very bold and unprofessional. Re catch can well it was for road car and budget ran out from doing more stuff, you set it up as track car??? Tune was fine and if you messed with it well I can't comment. Change diff in the car in 2 hours our Andrew is more thorough than that but sounds good. Tune car in driveway and rebuild engines in 5 hours I guess, Dirtgarage sweep the floor at least first. Stick to the facts without exaggerating or blaming and might be more believable. No mention from Dave to us prior t the Superlap and we spoke heaps. Nothing wrong with Dave's last motor around 250rwkw high flow turbo lasted a few years, until a T04Z was put on it up there under your banner or? and after it was brought to us and we fixed valve timing and tuned it remember and made 360rwkw and then came to a track day against my advice with NO OIL cooler. Then Newcastle floods finished it off and this is our fault somehow. Get off it. I came up to your garage a few times and spoke to Dave which maybe you did not know, and Andrew on his day off with his small son with him and our Tim tried to help but you were all over it Explanation was about the times you quoted and going to do and would have bla bla. Chinese proverb Paul. "If you throw dirt in life you only lose ground yourself."

Wow I just read the last few pages and what a yappin it was. Bottom line is as the rules were Bozzo fitted it no problems, and is a true enthusiast competing in motorsport, and obviously talented. He is as bad as me amongst it six days a week and on day off competing motorsport. As mentioned though and in comparison to the other drivers in open class at least who have far more competition experience. BTW we don't here Russ or Mark whinging at all about those pesky, sorry fast Lotuses. They have had probably the biggest commitment and probably biggest cost running the two cars in this event, and to be beaten by the Lotuses, and only to congratulate them on numerous occasions. Good Spirit. Also well covered Peddler and maybe you should help run the future ones. Re marshals, one suggestion might be ask for volunteers even if for part of the day as costs could blow out otherwise. Obviously for certain jobs some experience will be necessary. But then almost anyone might be better than no one at all. The dude in the RX7 going backwards up the pits talking on his mobile was just gold. Overall it was a great day and the best things is with constructive feedback it will only get better in the future. Well done Ian from Hi Octane for having the vision. Also well done asking for feedback, but guys it is not a dumping ground of opinions, egos and criticism. It is not easy setting up and running this big event, and Hi Octane were not experienced or claiming to be, although learning fast. Let’s get behind it and make it work big time. Now for more ammo to keep things going. DiRTgarage I luv your shoulda, woulda gunna talk, it might work with the drag boys but no one is buying it here.. Also Adz your car sounded tops and good result. How far behind me or sorry my car and Johnny Boston he ha were you?
-
Hey DiRTgarage we were on a 1 min 10 before we broke traction. Slot car came 6th. Missed the all important top 5 but considering the top 5 open class cars are big budget cars and teams, not so bad I guess with more in it. With softer rear springs required as she was oversteering a lot and bit less neg camber in front as inside tyres in front getting much hotter than outside and understeering a bit. Lots more in the car yet. This one was huge and next one cars will be better and event will be bigger. Also big well done to Russ giving that R35 heaps and pushing it hard enough to come off the track, so not holding back. Also Mark just being beaten by those pesky Lotuses? Still awesome time though. Not sure how I will ever catch you guys, maybe a bigger rear wing?? Actual Times here. Superlap TImes.

Wow that was a shot across the bow Paul. Love the Marina bit, yes he is a fellow silor and smokes a pipe wears a cardy. Where is GTR Jason's entry, or is it a late grand one??? I am going to Oran GP today for testing and bed in new tyres, I hope to try different springs with Sydneykid this afternoon.
-
Is this sticker racing or Shoulda gunna race meeting, I should have done this and going to do that. Hey Dirtgarage Robin Racing, I will nominate you for fastest time at Oran. They obviously don't know.
-
evil_ weevil I like putting my car in the face of GTR Jason every now and then in case he forgets. I watched that Lotus in car vid and looks very stable and smooth. My car cost me $6k about 7 years ago See here for more. Motorsports section ZX build

Dam those Lotuses are quick. I think on the day giant will be in the running with both on R compound tyres, and giants supper soft ones. Can't see how new slicks are similar to R compound though? I went to Wakey on Sat for SAU track day, freezing day about 9c and windy and could not get there until after 2pm due to tow car Commy doing an alternator that morning and long story. Bit of mud on the tack and not good for grip as so cold tracktemps and rain that night and old tyres, bla bla bla managed a 1 min 5.49 a PB, and I was impressed until I put it in perspective with this pesky Lotus, and giant would do this with one flat tyre. Still doing more weight reduction and more power prior to the BIG day but budget does not allow for dog box yet, so will be running the stock gear box still. At least we will look good coming 3rd or 4th or 5th or.................. Dirtgarge thieving p...icks, I hate thieves and unfortunately trailers are hot property. Got a pic of what it looked like, never know small world and if unique it might show up one day at a track or on the road going somewhere.
