  1. Id just like to add... To the organisers of these cruises: There ARE 24/7 monitered cameras all across the museum carpark, and the security guards have no problems seeing your number plates quite clearly through these cameras. Why am I bringing this up? Due to the sheer amount of dickheads who decide to lose traction, speed and any commit any other form of negligent driving through a carpark with a 10km/h speed limit. Please dont ruin what was once a good meeting spot, where the police would come and talk to us in a friendly manner by acting like complete idiots. Hume exists for a reason if youre that way inclined. The responsibility is on the organiser(s) of this cruise to keep their crowd under control.
  2. Hailing like a champion on the Monaro Highway on the way home 20 minutes ago... luckily the GTR is in the garage.
  3. Spotted a silver R33 GTST on Majura Road this morning, stopping to let a truck cross the road into the construction site... good thing you did there mate, if it wasnt for you I would have been late to work
  4. Oh thats right, I forgot it came with a counterweight steel crankshaft, forged conrods, forged pistons... now where did I put my $12,000 packet of 200cc shake-and-bake... I said "massive" difference, it would make a difference but people who go "omg I have an extra 200 corn chips, my turbo will now spool 3000rpm earlier" need their head read.
  5. Which stroker kit? The Step I, II, III or high-deck? Each handles more and more power, but the price increases accordingly as well. They are good up to their rated hp limit, but for the step I and II, I believe you can make something capable of holding the same power levels with less outlay. I dont think the extra 200cc's will make a massive difference in turbo response times etc.
  6. Spotted a dark navy blue R32 GTR heading past Russel Offices into the city, and a white R33 GTR with gold wheels at Caltex Lanyon Shops both this afternoon
  7. The OEM Brembo rotors arnt that great, id say theres nothing in it between them and the DBA's (I had a set of genuine Brembos fitted to the front of the car when I picked it up). DBA 4000 + RB74 pads will pull the car up better than the OEM stuff in my opinion
  8. Thats the massive problem with R32 GTR's, theyre literally a time bomb waiting to go off until you inspect and/or replace the oil pump. It could just be a dud gauge, it could be signs the oil pump is starting to wear. Best bet is to install a mechanic oil gauge and check it out. If the pressure is low/fluctuating with the new mechanical gauge, time to pull that engine out and get it replaced.
  9. They make a loud grinding noise when you get on them hard, which is normal. To get rid of the squeak you need to bed them in hard from the start (do one 60kmh - 20km/h slow down to start, then stomp them hard from 100km/h+)
  10. The GTt and GTR are both 206kw on paper... in reality the GTR usually churns out more power and the 206kw written down is only to satisfy the Japan gentlemans agreement. GTS25t and GTt both have the RB25DET, but the GTt has Neo (variable timing) and a few other tricks to bring the power up over the R33.
  11. You can buy the video from alot of motor sports shops, its the 1992 Bathurst 1000 video.
  12. Genuine Brembo pads are pretty harsh on the rotors and I wouldnt be suprised if the rotors were stuffed. Whats actually wrong with them, are they just worn, warped or weakened? If they are worn you can possibly get them machined, if they are warped you can get them machined depending how bad they are warped, if they are weakened (massive heat spots, cracked etc due to stomping the brakes when theyre cold and holding the brake pedal down when your stopped and theyre hot) then they will need replacing. I run DBA 4000 discs with Racebrakes RB74 pads and it works a treat. You can get the DBA discs from DBA directly or Super Cheap (custom order, but they generally have jack all markup on them and are cheaper than brake specialists) and the pads from www.racebrakes.com.au. You should be able to get a set of good pads and discs for $1000 - $1500.
  13. The throttle should be 100% open when performing the test (e.g. someone pushing the accelerator to the floor when cranking it)
  14. If the compression test was conducted properly (warm engine, wide open throttle when cranking) then those results are pretty poor and the engine is fairly worn out. I believe Nissan specifications say 130 - 170psi.
  15. Sounds like they have standard suspension in them, which is probably worn. They handle like boat anchors with standard suspension...
  16. Can you get a Trust R-SPL 600x300x100 intercooler for GTR by Saturday?
  17. Proengines are awesome! Had my motor done there 2 years ago, shes clocked up 30,000kms since and only had one small problem (which Greg happily fixed at his expense). They definately do awesome work
  18. The 260/9.15mm are poncams designed to bolt straight into an RB26 (although myself and some others have had to replace the shims to get a perfect fit). The 264 is the entry level procam, and runs much more lift than the 260's. Its a 30 minute job to cut back the head with a die grinder for cam clearance, probably one of the easiest parts of the installation. I run 260/9.15mm camshafts in my car (2530s) which is mainly a street car/weekend warrior. They are awesome cams and really woke the car up, and it keeps pulling hard to redline now whereas it used to run out of puff at 7500rpm. Id definately reccomend them, but then again, I havnt had experience with the larger duration/lift cams so cant really comment on them
  19. King bearings Also, just curious what type of drive to the RB30 crankshafts have for the oil pump? Do they need to be collared along the same lines as the early RB26 cranks?
  20. Just to add, I blew a rear turbo on my GTR (ironically, the day I bought the car... way to start my love/hate relationship with skylines!) and replaced them with 2530's. A week later I blew a gearbox but it sounded like something had gone majorly wrong in the engine, so took it to a workshop and they reported it as a dead engine. Long story but after being stripped and taken to another workshop, was diagnosed with a destroyed gearbox (hooray for 3rd gear!). Anyway got the engine rebuilt since it had been pulled from the car anyway, and there were only two scoring marks inside the engine which was on the top of a piston and on the bore of the same cylinder. This happened from a snapped valve guide. Aside from this the engine was in suprisingly excellent mechanical condition for 75000kms old. Must just be a luck of the draw thing as to wether or not your engine gets destroyed by ceramic dust. The argument for it happening seems valid, so I do believe it to a certain extent, but personal experience steers me otherwise as well. As for R34 turbos, I was also 99% sure they were still ceramic. However, that being said I have seen a V-Spec which had steel wheels and heard of another V-Spec having steel wheel turbos too. These were both extremely low km cars and unmodified. Also heard rumors floating around some V-Specs/V-Spec II's had steel wheels, some didnt (along the same lines of Nissan toying with ball bearing turbos in the S15's). But, someone who owns an R34 has said theyre ceramic, so I wouldnt push my luck and treat them as ceramic... nothing sux more when you pop a turbo, push the go pedal again and realise you have an RB26DE.
  21. *looks at people with 15 year old GTR's*... you ruined my resale value bastards! jokes Depreciation, the cars are starting to get really old in Japan now and are worth stuff all, which means they get imported for cheaper. 2 years ago a 1999 R34 GTR cost you $100,000+... you can now pick them up for a touch over $60,000 (same price R32 GTR's were 5 years ago).
  22. Yeah we meet up at the national museum every friday night... feel free to come past Your mate with the 1JZ cressida isnt farren by any chance is it?
  23. I never said they were garbage, the only reason I didnt use it was because my engine builder (who happens to have posted in this thread) also had one for my engine which was a JUN copy and that ended up going in... if he didnt have that, I was going to put the Tomei ones in. Theres nothing wrong with the Tomei ones, but the JUN ones are a bit better designed. Saying that though, Tomei wouldnt sell a product that doesnt work
  24. From what I know it was partially stripped and sold... could be wrong though Also forgot to mention spotted djhatton drunk as a skunk in civic on saturday night
  25. It got sold as said above?
