  1. Could be... could also be the car has had its km's wound back and is way over due for its 100,000km service which is why its reccomended to do all the belts as soon as you get the car. If you spin a bearing its engine out, rebuild time.
  2. Leakdown test can tell you if your engine is leaking compression be it past the rings, past the valves etc. Can also tell you if the head/head gasket is damaged at all (take the radiator cap off when you do it, and if it blows coolant out then you have a head problem).
  3. Taking this in another way to what others have, in theory it should work. As long as you have a vacuum line running from somewhere to the actuators they will open on whatever the spring pressure is set at (7/8psi). You need to make sure there is nothing in the middle though, no solenoids, nothing, it just needs to be a vacuum line running straight from the actuators to a vacuum source (Tee it off one of the vacuum lines running from under the plenum).
  4. Sounds like the bearings are stuffed
  5. If you are keeping the standard boost control solenoid then id suggest you spend 30 minutes of your time trying to find a wrecker that has the vacuum hose with the restrictor still in place that you can buy and then use on your car.
  6. As everyone else has said, if you run just a raw vacuum line to the actuators you will have the minimum possible boost on the car (if the actuators have 7psi springs in them, then the wastegates will open at 7psi). Obviously the vacuum lines were either not hooked back up properly or split when you were checking them if it was working until it was played around with. Not being a bastard, but I would suggest you trailer it to a reputable mechanics and get them to fix up any issues in future (and you can watch them if you want to learn whats going on).
  7. Im tempted to come just to hear that exhaust again... oh how so damn good it sounded
  8. Jaycar have a kit? EDIT: Indeed they do which cuts ignition (with another kit) - http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?I...x=&SUBCATID=347 So for $50 or so, you should have a ignition cut rev limiter
  9. How do I check for launch control?
  10. True, I have my rev limit at 8000rpm and have hit it a few times, then the peak rpm reading on the avc-r is ~8150rpm. Im 99.9% sure I dont have a PFC Pro, yet when it has hit rev limit its spewed black smoke/popped/flamed out the exhaust, which would indicate ignition is being cut not fuel. How can I check if it is a PFC Pro?
  11. Apparantly Williams arnt too happy with webbers performance and wouldnt mind seeing him gone... Full story at http://www.planet-f1.com/news/story_20976.shtml
  12. Look further down the page at the 2005 specs. Nismo GT block, HKS 2.8L kit, VCAM, HKS GT2530's etc. Looks like the mouldy Zero-R's are making a come back
  13. 2001 Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0 -- 3.6s 0-100km/h / 12.0s 0-400m 2003 Lamborghini Gallardo -- 4.0s 0-100km/h / 12.4s 0-400m The last version of the Diablo still beats the Gallardo... only just The Gallardo was a whole new car, the Diablo replacement was the Murcielago which has exactly the same performance. Either way, id have any of them
  14. Yeah im down for two putty trips a year, that would be awesome Same as Aurora, spent well over $250 on petrol on the weekend but worth it
  15. Thats not a diablo, its a gellardo... Diablo had the quad cam V12, I heard one down in Melbourne scream off to beat an orange light and it was just awesome... pisses all over the sound of a ferrari any day
  16. Spotted a mangled silver R33 GTSt on the road from the Airport to Queanbeyan at the turn off for the driver training place... looked like it was a 3 car accident involving a commodore, commodore ute and the skyline... hope it was no-one off here (yesterday afternoon)
  17. Spotted lots of Skylines up in Sydney yesterday, ost noteable being a silver R32 GTR with silver dished wheels and a CF bonnet and a white R33 GTSt with a big Nismo sticker across the windscreen and 400R kit. I have no idea what road I was on though as I was extremely lost Was heading from Blacktown/Windsor area towards the M5 to get back to Canberra. Would have been around 1PM. EDIT: Forgot to mention the guy in a stock-as-a-rock E36 318i proudly displaying a very crooked M3 badge on the rear as well...
  18. Many nice cars there... an awesome blue R32 GTR that we thought was you for a minute when it arrived Also a sexy as 4 door R34 GT-t... that thing was hot Theres a pics thread up in the NSW section
  19. Yep before the halfway house
  20. Well I was there in the white R32 GTR with ACT plates, and had a pretty good cruise... it was very similar to last years. Its a public road, people are going to get seperated, and people are going to want to go for spirited driving... thats why there are the regroup points to make sure everyone arrives ok. The only problem I had was with one certain car who made a point of overtaking me for god knows what reason, then slowing right down and splitting the group into two... and then when an overtaking lane came up and I went to pass, seemed to speed up to try and keep up/stop me... by the way mate, your car is blowing shitloads of blue smoke (oil)when on boost, you should get it checked out (white R33 GTSt, possibly with Veilside bits on it...) And my apologies for blowing smoke on any cars behind me, shes running a bit rich and needs a tune
  21. Was at putty road boo-yeah
  22. Well for those that didnt go, you missed an absolutely awesome cruise. Weather was beautiful with an almost picture perfect spring day (some strong winds up north, but not too bad). Cant remember how many cars, but it was probably around 15 - 25. Ended up leaving at 11ish and arriving at the other end a little after 1pm (2 hours of twisties fun ). I didnt actually get any pics of it, but im sure there will be some posted up somewhere.
  23. Where were you at? Also spotted red R31 with big front mount heading towards Gordon/Tuggeranong (cant remember the name of the street, but it runs past calwell, isabella, richardson)
  24. If they got you on radar your stuffed, unless you can spare the extra cash to hire a physics professor to somehow disprove the radar could work in the area. Personally I would just pay it, odds are stacked against you and its not worth the chance of having the penalty increased and paying the prosecutions court costs
  25. Did they get you on radar? Did you ask to look at the speed reading? I usually suggest against fighting these. The only reason is because (a) you were speeding (not having a dig, we all do it), and if you lose the case the penalty is usually increased and you have to cover the court costs of the prosecuting side. So at the end of the day, if you have any doubts about wether you can win or not, just pay it.
