-
I hate f@#king magna drivers... almost every bald middle aged man in his "oh crap im having a mid life crisis, i need a sports car but the wife will shoot me if i buy something impartical" magna sports trys to race me... GET OVER IT!!!!

The hotel we stayed at last year is http://www.windsorterracemotel.com/ Not 5 stars, but has beds, tv and car parking so pretty suitable
-
Is it a yellow legacy RS by any chance? If so, one of the forum members on here previously owned the car and bought it from Japan and knows the whole history of it. If it is the yellow one, send me a PM and ill give you the original owners details

GTS4 to be exact
-
If its a GTR they will fit with modification to the CAS, if its a GTS* then they wont fit
-
Does anyone have any pictures of it front on where you can see the bonnet? From the quick glimpses I have seen, it doesnt have the NACA duct on the bonnet which would mean its not even a V-spec II (unless its had the bonnet replaced)? Still, id give my nuts for a BNR34  Oooh and gracer still exists... I havnt seen that car around for a while, possibly one of my favourite GTR's of all time (not sure why, I just love it).

Takes around 3 1/2 hours to get to Windsor so id say we'd leave around midday... on that note though, if you cant leave till 5pm thats not a problem you can meet us up there, its pretty easy to find.

Cool just giving people heads up the the "im broke" excuse cant be pulled

The SAU Putty Road cruise is on the 17th September (Saturday) this year, and I hope some of you slackers will come along this time Me, Ewen and Shell went up last year and it was awesome. Basically the plan is, cruise up to Sydney (Windsor) Friday afternoon and stay at Windsor Friday night. Go on the cruise Saturday (the meeting point is about 5 minutes away from where we stay) and stay up in the wine region Saturday night with some of the SAU guys, and then head home Sunday. For those that dont know Putty Road, it runs from Sydney to Singleton and is masses upon masses of winding roads through the middle of a rain forest... very fun Staying in Windsor Friday night, there are lots of restaurants, cafes, bars etc only 2 minutes walk away, maccas just down the road etc. Its an awesome weekend, and hopefully some of you can make it up. More details will be posted in the general events section soon, so this is just to gauge interest so far.

Already talked to you... and I need to talk to you some more...

You can have it installed on an every day driver without being activated, I personally dont think its much use on the street though (unless youre street racing :chairshot). There are downfalls including: excessive noise, excessive flames, lack of vacuum assistance for things such as power steering and brakes. Run the EGT's too hot and you can kiss your exhaust valves good bye etc. The only real benefit I can see of it, is for launching a car at the drags and improving shift times (as they car will be on full/almost full boost and you dont even have to flat change). Continual running around a circuit with it in full antilag mode will make the EGT' skyrocket after a few laps, and on stock valves the cars not going to be happy. So at the end of the day, having it installed and using it on the street would purely be for wank factor

Define true sense? Whilst majority of them have daily drivers, the cars are driven on the street on a regular basis without much hassle (some have dog boxes so are a pain in the arse irregardless). That said when ALS is running in full antilag mode, the car will buck and kick around alot and be a general pain in the ass unless you keep the revs up. Some people use ALS on the street, some use it only at track. When it is armed it makes an assload of noise and pops and bangs quite a lot. When sitting in rotational idle the car is also extremely loud. A couple of the cars I have seen (including GTR) have travelled well over 10,000km without a problem. All these cars are regularly serviced at 3000kms.

The method of using an injector and spark plug in the exhaust manifold isnt and hasnt been used for a long time. Most new ECU's (Motec M800 and M48, Autronic, Link) run a timing based anti lag setup with rotational idle support. The ALS retards ignition timing and keeps the throttle open so unburned fuel and air pass through the engine and ignite in the exhaust manifold (thanks to the retarded ignition timing firing the spark plug when the exhaust valve is open). The way the throttle is held open varies from ECU's, but the three common ways are the use of an idle speed motor, a throttle screw or a solenoid setup. The ECU uses an idle control sequence so that once it hits the set target idle speed, the ALS will cut a spark in a rotational sequence with each cylinder (explains the lumpy idle), and this whole setup is called rotational idle. If there was no rotational idle, the engine would just freely rev (because the throttle is partially open remember?). As soo as the RPM goes over the arming target, the ALS goes into full antilag mode, and makes lots of noise. Once you come down from the arming target RPM the system will stay in full antilag mode for a period of time (making loud bangs and pops), after which if you dont hit the arming target RPM again it will fall back into rotational idle mode. It will stay in rotational idle until you hit the arming target RPM again. Whilst running in full antilag mode, the car has no vacuum so any vacuum assisted hardware (brakes) will be alot harder to work. As for reliability, the rotational idle is actually beneficial to the whole setup as it cools the pistons, valves and turbo exhaust housing (pumping raw fuel and air over these components brings the temperature back down -very- quickly). With occasional use, EGT's are no major problem unless you are running in full antilag mode on a highway for a long period of time. Alot of the ECU's now will have a "failsafe" setup in them as well, which will disable full antilag mode and kick you back into rotational idle if the EGT's go over a certain temperature. It has come a long way, and I have seen plenty of street cars (including GTR's) run ALS setups without a problem for many thousands of km's. If youre EGT's start skyrocketing and you keep pushing the car while in full antilag mode, thats when you will start damaging components. I should also mention you can turn antilag off so the car runs normally without going into rotational idle or full antilag mode EDIT: One of the cars in question ran a pair of 2530's and would build over 1 bar of boost at 2500rpm running in full antilag mode (with a target idle speed of 2000rpm and arming target of 4000RPM).

Excellent... yeah, if im driving ill definately be staying Saturday night, wasnt a big fan of the drive home straight after the cruise. To be blunt, that room was fu**ed Haha (*stops whinging*) but yeah, staying there again should be sweet, was nice and close to the shops and not too far into the city so im all for it

Nissan for the rackend and upright... be prepared to be bent over for a brand new bits though. You could grab the bits second hand from a wrecker, but you run the risk of them being not 100% straight. Grab a camber kit from whiteline, www.whiteline.com.au

would you pay a $500 deposit to test drive a car?
Amaru replied to [D4RKS1D3]'s topic in General Automotive Discussion
Agreed 100%. When I bought mine, I didn't expect to take it for a test drive. I asked the seller if we could go for a drive, we did and he pulled over, got out and basically made me have a drive of it. He obviously knew I was genuinely interested, and as a result I did end up buying the car. While I was driving it, I gave the car a nice clean run out to redline bit didnt thrash the crap out of it. As said, treat others how you want to be treated. God knows if some young punk came and started thrashing my car on a test drive, id kick his ass so hard he wouldnt have to worry about catching a bus home/back to his car after I have ditched him on the side of the road. I dont think $500 is unreasonable, 90% of people genuinely interested in your car wouldnt mind putting this down. Good luck with the sale. -
All sounds sweet But being the picky bastard I am, im going to make a few suggestions GTR injectors dont fit in the RB25. RB26 injectors are top feed, RB25 injectors are side feed. Check out greenline (www.greenline.jp), they have awesome prices on Sard injectors at the moment. Should be able to pick up a set of 600cc for a good price. Also, youve made no mention of fuel pump? What pump is currently in the car? Maybe get a Bosch 040 to sit in tank just to make sure I wouldnt really worry about the plenum, its been said many times on here its only really asthetic, or useful if you have a large turbo (read, T51/T88 etc) to remove some restriction where the pipe bends. The standard plenum has very equal distribution of air, if you change to a forward facing you will need individual control over the injectors to richen up cylinder 6 as it will run leaner than the front ones. Even the R31 bathurst cars kept sideways facing plenums All that aside, sounds awesome

I am -very- keen to head up this weekend for a day, anyone else interested? Either by bus, or car im not fussed but im sick of sitting here doing nothing when I could e up there
-
Yep, was talking to Ewen (Aurora) about it the other day. I think our plan is head up on the Friday afternoon, stay at Windsor on Friday night (we did that last year), cruise Saturday and stay with you guys up the other end Saturday night, head back home on Sunday

help needed, white smoke blowing out of exhaust
Amaru replied to a topic in Engines & Forced Induction
If you sucked pure water into your engine, youd probably have a nice hole in the side of it (as said above, water doesnt compress... get enough of it into your engine and it will bend the bottom end to all hell and back). Pull the radiator cap off and see if the fluid looks milky/oily. -
I intend to, it was broken last year which is why I couldnt bring it. You going to come again Shell? Might try get a few of the other guys up from Canberra too.
-
Maybe have it bout 9ish? We could have pizza and then afterwards head down to the Jerra and get shmozzled... I just want to get drunk

Ill be out but dont have spare seat unfortunately
