  1. Ok, to throw a spanner in the works for NSW people... RTA have the power to search your vehicle, as seen at http://www.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/disp.pl/...and+%28on%29%29 Police do not have the power to search your vehicle unless they suspect on reasonable grounds tha you have either committed an indictable offence, or they believe you pose a risk to public safety. The rules for police officers can be seen at http://www.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/disp.pl/...and+%28on%29%29 So you legally can turn around and say no to a police officer, but they will probably just get RTA to swing past and search instead, of make you take your car for a reinspection. 2. A clutch letting go wont blow a gearbox. Im guessing its the typical ham fisted shift into 3rd gear, which in turn stripped the gear, which seized up the box, which broke the pressure plate in the clutch, which broke the clutch itself, and probably ovaled the flywheel. How do I know? Seen it before Good luck with the sale
  3. I ran through this with a lawyer friend regarding ACT not so long ago. The police (here at least) have no power to search your car unless they have reasonable cause to believe you or the vehicle have been involved with an indictable offence. All you have to do is say "I do not consent to a search of my property" and they cant do jack about it (unless youve just gone and robbed a servo, and the guy at the servo has given a pretty accurate description that matches your car etc). They can do you for anything exterior wise and that they can visually see through windows/windscreen, but if you refuse a search of your car then its on their way time for the nice officers. Please also note, having a radar detector/jammer -is- an indictable offence in all states except for W.A, so they can tear your car apart if they have reasonable cause to believe you have one. Once again, this is just ACT, im pretty sure NSW wasnt too dissimilar either.
  4. Nissan spare parts can order them in, probably take ~7 days.
  5. Yep some of us will be at the museum around 9-9:30ish, feel free to come out
  6. From what I have heard, newer software releases trigger the warning at 40 (unconfirmed by myself though). On a side note, you shouldnt be driving/flogging a GTR on a base tune power fc, it specifically states in the manual (im pretty sure its in english) to drive it straight to a tuning shop.
  7. Ill be out... excluding driving to wakefield have only done 200kms in the car in the last month or so, so keen to go for a drive
  8. Nice, grab some pics if you can. Now, do a fellow SAU'er a favour and find me some chick to marry so I can get a green card
  9. On this subject, what max rpm is the RB30 crank capable of going to (with aftermarket rods)? Ive heard stories that they become "harmonically unbalanced" past 7000rpm, and others have said they can rev to 8500rpm without a problem.
  10. ATTESA fluid resovoir... youre meant to use "Nissan Special Power Steer Fluid" which is also known as "Nissan Matic D" (auto trans fluid). You can get it from any Nissan dealer. When the system is pressurised, the fluid level is meant to sit between the min and max levels. Theres a fuse you can pop to pressurise the system, but I find if I start the car and drive it for 5 mins then check the level, its sucked down quite a bit and then I top it up. Your also meant to bleed the system using a nipple near the transfer case to remove any air from it.
  11. I was always told they were made by Rays (since Rays do the other forged wheels for Nissan, e.g. on the 350Z). I picked mine up off Blitz, was $2900 for the whole set including brand new tyres with not a mark on them They dont rub at all, I think the tyres are 235/35/18... yes, they do look a bit stretched on, definately going a wider tyre when these ones wear out Link to dodgy photo --> http://gtr.infinite.net.au/gtr-wheels1.jpg
  12. Hey Greg, Id say if you could make a reliable high horsepower engine at a good price, alot of people would seriously consider it as an OSG alternative. Id also reccomend maybe posting this on the GTROC UK forums, as they seem to be nuts about OSG 3 litre kits, but dont like paying the price (they still pay however, as there really is no alternative). If you wanted to set one up in a drag gtr, give me a call and im sure we can work out some sort of sponsorship deal in which you provide me with one of the above mentioned engines and a hollinger, and ill try and get it to run decent numbers In all seriousness though, I might swing past and talk to you about this as im starting to save the $$ to drastically change my car (JUN 2.7lt). Current engine setup is great, but the big turbo and hp bug has bitten me
  13. What modifications have been done to the car? If its directly relational to speed not rpm, could be straight cut gears, could be worn gears and/or bearings. Ticking noise is probably a combination of solid lifters and injectors... RB26's have noisy top ends
  14. R33 GTS ------------- RB20E - 2.0 litre inline 6 single over head cam fuel injected 4 stud wheels R33 GTS25 -------------- RB25DE - 2.5 litre inline 6 double over head cam fuel injected 4 stud wheels R33 GTS25t --------------- RB25DET - 2.5 litre inline 6 double over head cam fuel injected turbo 5 stud wheels larger brakes
  15. One of the rear bearings needs replacing in my car (has some play in it)... they are a completely sealed unit, and yes you have to replace the whole lot. Mechanic got the assembly for me, was over $100 but sub $200 to my knowledge. Its being changed this week, will let you know of any tips/tricks for getting it done.
  16. Its also been said Bernie Ecclestone and his minions make an absolute killing for their own pockets from running at Indianapolis. The track is highly unsuited to F1 cars, and this has been mentioned by drivers on multiple times. Id love to see F1 at Laguna Seca, with the cars winding their way down the corkscrew... thatd be awesome (plus its a wide track around alot of the corners on the first half of the track, plenty of overtaking opportunities)
  17. Apparantly Ferrari said "it is up to FIA" regarding the chicane, they didnt give a direct yes/no. However, any chance they have of excluding teams in the past, they have always jumped on (read: Minardi in Melbourne). Michelin posted a number of options to FIA including running on non-qualifying tyres and being disqualified from points for this round, and the FIA said they would penalise so heavily no teams would think of doing it. FIA needs to pull their finger out and realise they lost a shitload of future revenue in the American market and have upset alot of major sponsors. On a side note, it would've been piss funny for Schumacher to take out Barrichello exiting the pits, leaving Jordan and Minardi to the top three
  18. All this talk about initial d is making me want to play... damnit!
  19. Well, I decided it was time to sell some stuff on eBay. Check it out http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...item=6187382923 Even if you're not interested, please pass it on to all your friends/family as they might be interested themselves, or know someone else that is
  20. Not sure where to, im just the messanger... confirmed "apparantly" 20+ cars from various clubs so far, so should be largeish
  21. Just to let everyone know, There is a largeish cruise this Friday. Meeting at 9:30PM in the RJ's carpark at Woden. Maybe see some of you there
