  1. mmmm Kakimoto widebody
  2. Ben did a bit on mine (this was my first evo incident, not the second i posted about on the last page ) and did a tune on it. All in all I wasnt overly impressed as all that had been done was ignition timing advanced to all hell and back (and it was detonating on the street after I got it back quite badly). -HOWEVER- Ed knows Ben pretty well and says that sounds unlike him. I also heard from another person, Evo were only concerned with getting cars in, getting a high dyno figure to keep the customer happy and shipping the car out. Ben wanted to spend more time on tuning the cars but his hands were tied by Evo. From the only time I spoke with him he seemed nice enough and knew his shit, not to mention I have heard nothing but good things about him from other people. So in my mind, Ben is good but Evo limit his ability to play with cars (or thats the way it obviously used to be). Now if him and Ed were to team up...
  3. Ill be out this Friday again... any takers?
  4. My bad, I completely missed the part where its already registered. If its already rego'd you can do as mentioned above (roadworthy and shopfront) if its not rego'd or only on temp rego, it will need to go over dickson.
  5. Revell in Tuggeranong
  6. If its an 89 import it needs to go over dickson (and seeing as it has no 80km/h sticker or tyre placard, im assuming it is)
  7. Can you reccomend anyone/anywhere in ACT/NSW area that can install these, and estimate prices? You mentioned further above dry sump can be had for the same price as an aftermarket jap brand oil pump.
  8. A japanese tyre placard is not acceptable at Dickson. I got absolutely reamed for this. I got one off an aus delivered GTR (brand new from Nissan) and they still failed it saying it was JDM model and needed the appropriate placard from either the original compliancer (who is now out of business - was complianced back in 1999) or from an engineer. So in the end I had to get the wheels engineered (the engineer also gives you the spare tyre max speed sticker, although dickson didnt check mine). Have you got the engineering certificate? It might have the appropriate modifications in place, but it -needs- to be engineered or Dickson wont even look at the car. Good luck
  9. Hey Luke, Welcome to the forums. Yep there was a few of us out i Hume friday night checking out the scenery Anyways enjoy your stay round these parts
  10. Last nite was pretty good. Would go out tonite but its time for some :rave:
  11. Saw these in a magazine recently, will definately be giving them a try when they come out (and i destroy my current tyres).
  12. Have got a Veilside Drag SPL turbo back exhaust (3.5 inch, tuned length front pipes). Not too loud until over 5000rpm, flows very nicely and sounds pretty good too.
  13. p1r4t8r - yep thats the one eXc - As said above, DSM (Diamond Star Motors) was a company formed by Mitsubishi, Chrysler (Eagle) and Plymouth. The made the chassis of the car which became the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser. All cars were mechanically identical, exterior body parts were different though
  14. When did you do your work experiance? This happened back in 2003. After dropping the car off, I did -not- talk to anyone until I went in to pick up the car Monday. Ben nor anyone else from Evo ever rang me asking if it was ok to strip the engine. As for low compression, this incident happened within a week of me buying the car, it had been compression tested at two places in that week showing even 160psi across the engine. There was -nothing- wrong with it at all. A gearbox doesnt cause low compression, which is exactly my point, there was nothing wrong with the engine. The car went to Ed's with a half stripped engine and I just told him to keep pulling it out trusting what Evo said, rather than put it back together and do another test.
  15. You can get them turbo/non-turbo
  16. In Canberra, we spotted a Eagle Talon driving around (The Eclipse was made by Diamond Star Motors, it was a common platform shared across 3 manufacturers, Mitsubishi, Eagle and Dodge or something - all cars are virtually identical, just cosmetically different). We followed the guy driving it to some shops where he got out, and we asked him where/how he got the car. Had very strong American accent and proceeded to tell us he was an American diplomat in Australia. Very phatness car though, still LHD and all
  17. waaaaahahahahaha what have you been smoking, and can i have some?
  18. Just to add, theres one other thing that could cause oil problems at such a low speed. The R32 GTR oil pump drive on the crankshaft is physically too small and wears out causing screwey oil pressure. This was fixed on the 1994 models with the r33 gtr running gear. Im curious as to what caused Richards to fail though.
  19. Ed can do the fuel pump, hes done the whole fuel system in my car (2L surge tank, Bosch 044, GTR pump in tank, braided lines and fittings through the whole car) and a few others off the forums. For guard rolling, ill see if I can get the number off Ewen. He did an awesome job on Ewens car, no paint cracking or anything, and he comes to you.
  20. There were 100 brought into the country by Mitsubishi and theres apparantly another 100 coming in this year. We get the crappy Maltese version though with less power, 5 speed box instead of the 6 speed and the indicators on the wrong side!!!!! (its euro-spec, indicators on the left side of the steering column and wipers on the right side)
  21. Haha ill burn you his latest CD if you want and give it to you some time, that way you dont have to waste your bandwidth downloading it
  22. Xzibit is a rapper, not a band
  23. The factory gauges suck. The water temp will sit on 1/2 until its too late. And dont even get me started about the oil pressure gauge I put a new oil pressure sender from Nissan in the car 20,000kms ago (2003) and its f*cked again already.
  24. Sydney is the only all ages show in Australia so expect lots of teenybopper "i only know xzibit coz i watched pimp my ride" wankers. Im sure there will be lots of habibs too, and then the people who actually appreciate Xzibits muzak
  25. Spotted an R33 GTST on Tuggeranong Parkway heading southbound at about 10pm-ish last nite.
