The "tuned" computer probably means it has a mines/tomei/insert-similar-company-here chip in it. These are usually just tuned for more boost (e.g decent fuel maps up to 16psi) and advance the timing. Resetting it wont do much, as it will still retain those fuel maps and ignition timing settings, and will still be tuned for 100+ octane fuel. Best bet would be if it looks like a nice car, get it, as soon as it lands get it on a dyno to see how its running. If its good, so be it, if its bad, start looking for another stock ecu or look at power fc etc.

Were a friendly lot of people, so come down and say hi. If it makes it any easier, me and Aurora are the resident ass clowns/idiots, easy to spot, im quite tall with a white r32, ewens got a black series 2 r33 :)

Im sure Nissan dealerships would be able to source you parts from Japan (same as here), but theyre expensive. Otherwise just find somewhere selling any parts youre after, but shipping on heavy items will be a real killer. Other option is to spread the word to young habiby street racers to buy them, then give them a few months before theyre written off and you've got yourself a parts paradise

I was thinking on Monday the 4th (its a public holiday)
-
Since this weekend is a long weekend (Monday 4th being a public holiday) was just seeing if anyone was up for a short cruise and BBQ? We could follow the same tradition as always, meet up at Lanyon shops at say midday, get some food/drinks then head out for some spirited driving to either Orroral or Honeysuckle and BBQ it up. Anyway, if people are interested, reply and we will get it organised.

Leewah, I have no doubts in my mind that the OSG stuff is stronger than factory, but have been warned by multiple people if you blow a stock box from 'ham-fisted' gearshifts, you will blow the OSG one using the same tecnhiques (granted it will hold up a bit longer though). As you said though, its all a case of how you change gears Yep PPG is Pfitzner, and while I havent driven a car with a PPG box, I have sat in and played with a WRX with one and been for a ride in the passanger seat. It feels like an awesome box, very small shifts and very tight. The guy driving it had no problems what so ever, and he had only bought the car around 5 days before hand. They're meant to be a very friendly box, the only unfriendly part about it is the price. The only other complaint I have heard about them is the whining can get annoying at times

89 compliance in the ACT - where?
Amaru replied to sigsputnik's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Ed out at Integra Automotive in Queanbeyan can do it, hes been doing it for quite a few cars lately actually. -
Ouch When 3rd gear decides to let go it certainly does it with a very big bang, youre just lucky you could drive it home, my whole box seized up I went another stock box, am making more power than previously, but have listened to a few peoples advice, which is not to 'ham-fist' shift into 3rd gear (e.g not to slam it between 2nd and 3rd, just gently change it and dont apply 100% throttle instantly). This defeats the purpose of drags but its also cheap insurance. I was told not to bother with the OSG cross-set as the 3rd gear in that will also blow if you do constant hard 2nd -> 3rd changes. If youre going to keep the car a long time and think you will keep blowing boxes, maybe look into the PPG dogset, maybe if we get enough people blowing boxes we can do a group purchase
-
Ahh ok, it sounded like the typical problem where people wack in the injectors and expect them to work straight out of the box
-
The injector lag times and duty cycle havnt been setup in the power fc correctly.

Well after weeks of being ****ed by customs and aus post, the stuff has finally arrived!!!

GTR Defectability w stand. BOV
Amaru replied to CONRAD's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Theres cars making in excess of 500kw using the standard blow off valves, they are really good. However, you can occasionally get a dud one which does leak... -

The stock BOV's do make a fairly audible "chooooof" noise when fitted with pods. They are however perfectly legal as they do plumb back to the inlet. If the cop is being an ass, just try and confuse him by saying ltos of big words like "the pressure release valves are perfectly legal, they are recirculating back into the intake of the engine" etc. Most of the time (in ACT at least) they give you the benefit of the doubt. -
Otherwise you can take the japanese vin number (on the blue plate, not the green one) to a Nissan dealer and they should be able to cut you one, or get the code which you can take to a locksmith to get it cut.

Ah ok cool, might do that, thanks

Who tuned your car meshmesh? Everyone I spoke to, including some high profile sydney tuners all said Sard 700cc's were a bastard to get working properly
-
The Sards are going ok in mine, havnt had any major problems with them. Even on 22psi (the highest boost I will take them on standard pump fuel) ed has them setup good enough that they never see over 80% duty cycle. This will be reduced a little more as we work them out 100%, id say we've got them 90% worked out. Ill also have to take you for another drive as the camshafts arrived today and should be going in tomorrow (along with the dreaded hks twin plate, so no laughing when i continually stall the car )
-
With regards to sump baffling, why do you need an oversized sump? A standard sump will hold 5 1/2 litres comfortably and with the Tomei baffles and oil restrictors, I have never heard of a car going pop. Im still not 100% sure on why people need increased sump capacity... As for injectors, the Sard 700cc's are a little 'wierd' to work out, but Ed is getting there with them, and once he finishes sussing them out on mine he should have the settings ready to punch straight into yours. The problem lies mainly with injector lag time, they lag a little more than Sard claim they do.

yeah it sounded pretty tinny... also spotted sxygtst today, he overtook me as i was pulling into the carpark at the front of my work in a black 180SX about 1pm
-
Oh yeah i forgot to put up my spotted... Spotted some dickhead in a two tone R33 GTS (sounded very non turbo) driving normally then saw me broken down on friday night and decided to drop it back a gear and flog off (this was at midnight and there was no other traffic). Youre my f**king hero mate...

get out of our section you dirty adelaider

I was going to head down, but a driveshaft broke (the bolts sheared out of the uni-joint style thing) on the front of the car so its out of action at the moment. If I can get it repaired and camshafts/cam gears/sump baffles done by then ill be down there. Theres also another open day on October 9th (saturday again)
