  1. Ok thanks for that info, will go talk to my mechanic this afternoon. On a side note, the engine has been rebuilt already around 15,000km's ago (forged pistons, shot peened rods with arp bolts was all that was done bottom end) but mine and the engine builders knowledge of SBS was lacking at the time, and as a result... no sump baffles were installed
  2. Could the engine not be held by a engine hoist/crane for the time it would take to remove the sump, put the baffles in, and put the sump back on? Thanks for your info EDIT: Oh and does anyone run the Tomei sump baffle, or have any reccomendations, e.g if one is better than another...
  3. Just a quick question, I am keen to get around wakefield but not keen to tempt fate by not running sump baffles (and thats my personal choice so please dont say just take it out and see how it goes - $5000+ is too much to gamble for my liking ). My main question is... is it possible to get the sump off with the engine still in the car? Doing no other work besides putting the sump baffles in. Any info would be appreciated
  4. sounds good to me... put my name down (as usual... im an event whore )
  5. So youd be leaving Canberra at like 7:30ish or so? Me and Ewen might come down... we can be the official photography bitches
  6. damn... thats early...
  7. What time are you guys heading down to Wakefield on Sunday? I might head down as well for a look, so perhaps we can get a mini canberra -> goulburn cruise thing going on
  8. Im sure something could be arranged... theres Zafferellis, La Porchetta, Australian Pizza Kitchen, all of which serve nice pizza, have coffee and are warm. Im sure the shogun boys know alot of nice places to go too
  9. has it got factory ecu? i thought standard rb26 injectors had yellow tops (i could be wrong though). Just out of curiosity.
  10. Mine misses on idle until its warm every 10 seconds or so, just a quick miss though. Drives fine, and a few mechanics have said its nothing to worry about, so my take is its nothing to worry about. Any other peoples insight on this though would be good, to see if it is a problem and if its fixable
  11. Indeed... quite possibly the best car to come out of Japan in that "era".
  12. damn shell seems like something along these lines happened just a few weeks ago....
  13. I been spotting skylines everywhere lately just too lazy to post them but... Wine Red R33 in Dickson last night Black R32 GTS-T going down Monary Highway from queanbeyan to tuggeranong last week at about 6PM. Might wanna watch how close you chop in front of cars since you almost cleaned up the front of my car (I wasnt in the skyline) seen some others too i cant remember...
  14. Theres a public weigh bridge just off the Monaro Highway in Hume (not on the exit at Gull, but the next road down, just near the lights that run to mugga lane tip if you know what I mean).
  15. quickeze have non flatbed trucks? I thought they were all flatbed... they usually ask me what car I have, I say skyline, and I have always gotten a flatbed. Anyways that sux man I hate making reccomendations for companys only to have them dick it up. But this shit happens to everyone (ask Aurora how I had to spend $10,000+ in the first few weeks of owning mine) it'll get better and youll be back boosting around in your line soon
  16. my uneducated guess is hks 2540r's possibly?
  17. tie it to the front bar kidding
  18. Yeah Quickeze towing are awesome, $55 weekdays from memory, as Aurora said, theyve towed my car around quite a bit But no theres nothing wrong with your dad towing you, just make sure you keep lots of distance from him, keep the key in the ignition turned to on so the steering doesnt lock, and dont crash into him. If your dad is a more "seasoned" driver than yourself, id reccomend him being in the skyline and you driving his car, as it takes alot of skill/confidence/prediction so you dont crash it into the back of his car
  19. TPS = throttle position sensor
  20. Aurora will still be in bed this early in the morning.... LAZY F@#KER!!! im just jealous
  21. Im with gojira, s13drifter and to a certain extent MIU. Immaculate condition GTR's will cost more to purchase. Id like to believe the hype about cheap 89 GTR's being just as good as a 1994, but if I said I did I would be lying. Of the various people I know who have bought sub $20,000 GTR's, theyve had nothing but problems with them (with the exclusion of 1 person who did manage to pick up a genuinely nice example). But theres always going to be a division of two groups on this subject, and it all comes down to personal opinion, which everyone is entitled too. And before you bust out "the cars are checked in Japan" line, keep in mind whomever you are buying the car off is a business. Their first and primary interest is to make money. A distant second is making sure you get an ok car.
  22. My only advice (and others from previous posts, and also being published in magazines now) is if you are using all your money to buy the car, dont. They qre quite costly when things go wrong on them. They are a 15 year old performance car, and 90% of them have been flogged to hell and back. There are good examples, but yeah, if you dont have the money to fix any potential problems with it, steer clear. Otherwise, enjoy the stupidly insane grin they bring to your face the very first time you drive it
  23. More bad press for the skyline Full story is at http://news.com.au/common/story_page/0,405...55E1702,00.html
  24. Yeah well ive only seen two in real life, and both had a greyish leather type trim ... granted both had some sun damage, and the leather had dried up and gone wrinkly/crackly.
