ACT: 17 Year Old Caught Doing 170km/h
Amaru replied to Jay95R33's topic in Australian Capital Territory
An 18-year-old provisional (P-plate) licensed-driver found his lunchtime speeding hijinks in a new V8 sedan expensive in more ways than one today. Plainclothes detectives on patrol in an unmarked police car on the Tuggeranong Parkway clocked the P-plated driver at speeds of up to 170km/h before intercepting him and pulling him over shortly before 1pm. Investigating officers said the teen driver, off from college at lunchtime, was issued with a traffic infringement notice which cost him $1515. "He has also lost his license," said Senior Constable Dennis Apps. ------------------ Above was taken from AFP website -

tribex, Yeah the fluids fine, I topped it up recently as the mechanic hadnt put enough fluid in. If I hadve remembered you were having problems with yours, I wouldve had a look at it last night. I know most of the common causes of attessa failures (on r32 at least) but Im a bit stumped as to why its always putting torque to the front now even on light throttle (all wheels are 17x9 with 255/40/17's) -

On that note, im now starting to experiance problems with my attessa system. Its a 1992 R32 GTR (non v-spec). It still drives fine, not flashing any fault codes, but when im driving normally, its putting torque to the front wheels (goes upto 25) when it never used to (unless I was hammering it, it would stay rwd). Cruising along in 5th gear, even when I tap the throttle it goes up a little bit. Any ideas? -
Not for me theyre not, I seem to suffer from severe traction issues in them  theyre a massive step down for the Yokohama AVS Sport's and Toyo Trampio's that were on the car, but I needed tyres then and there and thats all I could get in my size

Running 255/40/17 Falken Ziex (yes I know theyre shit ) and was told to inflate to 40PSI. Im trying to kill the things so I can justify buying new good tyres, but they just dont seem to wear at all

No problems man (I had the R32 GTR), hope we didnt bore you too much, next time youre up this way we should try line something up like coffee/food and get as many people off here as we can to come out

Spotted a gunmetal R33 GTST... crashed... in the trees.... definate write off... on some road in belconnen (it goes between the parkway and calvary hospital, no street lights through the middle of bushland, dont know its name) around 12:30 - 1:00 last night. Damn dude, if you come on these forums I hope youre ok

Im unsure if its the same in the R33's, but in the R32 the ATTESSA control box is in the boot (open the boot then look on the roof of the boot and theres a few boxes). Theres a silver one with a LED on the bottom of it. This is the control box, if theres an error with attessa it will flash a fault code (when the lights come on, pull over, dont turn the car off and check what its flashing). Have you checked the transfer case fluid levels and the attessa fluid levels? Mine was running low and this caused havoc on my car... but once again its a 32 not 33. -
Yeah I enjoy a off the lights drag now and then but all I seem to get of late is 17 year olds in their lancers with altezzas so i dont even bother Id have to say the best ive had in recent months was verse a GTiR last weekend, although we wernt really racing, just hammering around, and he even stopped to talk to me (and the other people I was with)... champion

Congrats on the time man, gives me something to look forward to when I take mine down the strip (assuming I can drive it properly ) as I have a similar setup. Once I can get it launching properly, hoping for mid to high 11 second pass... but yeah congratulations dude

Thats cool bout the high flow just making sure you know its more than just simply shoving an steel exhaust wheel in As for running round on standard power fc tune, in my *personal opinion* youre taking a big gamble, and i hope for your sake it pays off for you. All it takes is a shit batch of base fuel before the additives, and your special blend of 106RON is about as worthless as 1RON at the end of the day.
-
As quoted from the Power FC manual... however each to their own. That said you dont have to buy or tune it at an official Apexi tuning shop, but I would at least hope people take into consideration that warning when installing and belting around on a factory tune power fc. Anyway on to the subject, you are aware there is substantially more involved in the high flowing of a turbo than simply replacing the exhaust wheel? You must machine out the compressor wheel housings, and match the compressor and exhaust wheels with each other and get them perfectly balanced or you are going to experiance unstable boost problems. That said, I was told when I was looking to rebuild/highflow mine that GCG sell a complete rebuild kit with everything you need, the only thing left is for someone to machine the housings and fit and balance it all.
-
The power fc doesnt support anti-lag, simple. You need a management system that can "cycle" the engine and purposely make it "miss" on certain cycles to get fuel into the exhaust manifold and then ignite in the exhaust manifold (while also keeping the throttle plate open a small amount to keep letting air into the engine). The only way I could see of doing it with the power fc is by the old and crude "bang bang" method, which is injecting fuel and air straight into a burning hot exhaust.

Haha I try believe me I try!

At the moment im running 2530's on my car with power fc, avc-r, nismo 600cc injectors (although theyre being thrown out as theyre stuffed), unsure what fuel pump but the fuel system hasnt maxed out and the cars run 1.6 bar (im going to id the pump soon, just need to stop being lazy and do it ) and z32 afm's. Im unsure as to wether the oil cooler is actually required or not, I do give my car a hard time, but the oil temp has never edged just over 90. Im also running the standard intercooler, but I believe its starting to become a big restriction, so am looking to get it replaced soon. As for ignition, i was advised im stretching it to the limit, and its up to me if I want to upgrade it or not. I was reccomended to install a CDI system to up the charge from the coils/plugs and this also gives a "cleaner" spark apparantly. Im also running standard camshafts and camgears but these are getting replaced soon too.

hey sxygtst u manage to sell ur car? we should meet up again for lunch one day...

First decent turbo car I went in (had been in plenty of diesel turbo 4wds) was a brand new MY99 2 door STi. Friends parents had just picked it up brand new, and damn was I impressed
-
Antilag is good for keeping boost up when you are off the throttle, but it does put tremendous amounts of stress on things such as exhaust, exhaust manifold, turbo, exhaust valves etc. Id tell you to talk to MRT as from memory they do Link ecu's which can do anti-lag.

Call out to the sparkies out there
