yeah if its what you want and you treat it well who cares what anyone else thinks

And it was one of the stupidest things ive possibly done  But I could afford to do it now before I need to buy things such as houses/wedding rings/childrens clothes and toys so I thought why not, I might not get another chance. And ive loved the skyline since I saw them at Bathurst. But I do consider myself a semi-responsible 20 year old driving a GTR, and I sure as hell dont do anything stupid in it (its been quite an expensive adventure and I dont want to be left at the end of the day with a massive debt and no car after I muzza it into a tree). And Ive got too much respect for the car to do anything that might risk crashing it. But I also plan to go and do the Ian Luff advanced driver training in Sydney, just need to get some moneys and enough free time to go and do it.

Well after organising details with another club (Shogun) theres a cruise on this weekend. Details are.... WHERE: Orroral Valley for BBQ and whatever else one can think of WHEN: Sunday 7th March MEET: Lanyon Marketplace (shops) at 11AM? Everyone has to go via that road to get out to Orroral anyway so seems like a good enough place plus theres ample car parking. Hope y'all can make it, and if you want bbq, bring some food

Yeah, ive been running around the past few months on 10psi of boost since my engine rebuild, and it feels slow to me now (it doesnt feel like i get that shove back in the seat anymore). However passangers claim its one of the fastest cars they have been in. You just get used to the speed of the car and adjust to suit it. And as for the noises im paranoid about that  whenever something makes a tiny rattle im like "oh my god whered that come from" or if a passanger says they hear something i start hounding them with questions as to when/where/what

Could be a coil failure, could be a fouled spark plug, could be a blocked injector and hence no fuels getting through. Id take the coil pack and spark plug out and check those first and go from there (hopefully its just a fouled plug).

As to which part? The part as to why R32 GTR's were built is open to personal opinion, you cant be "wrong" for having an opinion. As for engine strength and durability, ive encountered alot of these issues myself, and seen alot of other gtr owners who have encountered these issues as well. Theyre great engines, but theyre hardly "bulletproof" which I guess was my main point... you cant call them bulletproof because they can go bang pretty easily. Or if it was about the 2JZ being a better opinion, once again, open to personal opinion. I believe the 2JZ is a better strength engine and can cope alot longer with alot more power. Toyota are renowned for their durability, you cant argue that point. But either way, was just my opinion, and your opinion is im all wrong... *shrug* so be it I try not to involve myself in "your wrong" arguments on forums as its pretty pointless, but im just quoting what I have personally experianced or seen first hand (not "heard from so and so on this forum").

Haha ok, the first run 400/500 ive heard had N1 blocks etc, then I guess they just kept pumping them out. Theres mixed stories I guess you go with what you believe, but I believe the R32 GTR started its life was what was built and designed to be a race car. As I said its just my opinion, and its also my opinion that the 2JZ is alot stronger a motor than the RB series (stock from the factory not after rebuilds). But yes, they do break as well

GTR's and their engines are not bulletproof. If you want bulletproof you should have bought a Supra. The RB engines have their weaknesses like any other engine, and these are usually very quick to show themselves due to the nature of the car. You dont buy a GTR to put around in, you buy a GTR because you want a quick car. Things like oil surging problems, crankshaft journal problems, valve guides snapping problems will ensure these engines only have a limited lifetime. Your GTR will be put under alot more load than the Saab (look at the amounts of power they make from the factory) and to expect it to last 400000kms is wishful thinking. When I picked my car up, it was mint. 160psi compression across all cylinders, sounded healthy, ran fine. Within 2 weeks it was off the road for 3 months undergoing an engine rebuild because one of the above mentioned weaknesses showed itself (and no I hadnt belted the crap out of it, id only driven it twice). You cant expect much more from what was originally penned as a race car and the only reason it was released to the public was for homologation reasons. But thats my $0.02 worth and its not having a dig at you And sorry to hear about your engine, it sux when it happens. I would reccomend talking to Greg from Pro Engines (www.proengines.com.au), he's rebuilt my engine, another high power GTR and a high powered GTiR engines and does a damn good job. Definately worth checking out.

With the minimal mods youve stated id be suprised if it had a camshafts, but they are a damn good performance upgrade so its not out of the question. Theres one quick easy way of testing, take the coil pack cover off (the part in the middle of the engine with Nissan on it) and disconnect the coil packs one by one (e.g disconnect one then plug it back in). When you disconnect them you should notice the note of the car change as it stops firing on that cylinder. If you disconnect a coil pack and it doesnt seem to have any effect on the engine, then its something bad in there (coil pack/spark plug). I guess thats just a basic check to see if its firing correctly on all cylinders at idle. My mechanic taught me this trick when I had a fouled plug and he did that to find which cylinder it was without removing them all.

oooh bridesmaids..... *bes good*

Yeah I realise its fake but dont have $90.00 to spare at the moment for a "genuine" one (which is what JustJap quoted me). And sorry the bottom one isnt meshmesh's

Hi all, Just about to purchase a stupidly expensive amount of oils for my car as I feel like giving it an early christmas present, but my main question is will a single bottle of redline lightweight shockproof (3.78 litres) be enough to do the front and rear diffs? I've used the search function but cant find anything on how much oil is required to do both diffs. I assume another whole bottle will be enough for the gearbox as well? Thanks!

The injector pulse timing for the 550cc injectors will be completely different to the standard injectors which is probably the start of your problems.
-
I dont believe you... when we going for a ride? Just curious what NOS kit you are using Merli? I am nearing the limits of my turbos but want to push out a bit more power (the engines rebuilt and should be able to handle it).

anywhere... anytime... im flexible

Excellent... thankyou muchly As for the boot flip bit try gtr.co.nz he usually has a bunch of odd bits like that, otherwise try some of the jap import/wrecker places I guess.
-
Kam Motor Trimming... theyre in Collie Street Fyshwick next to Pirtek.
-
Where abouts did you get the GTR badge from? Some prick took the one off my car like a week before I bought it... just been too lazy to get it replaced

Cruise this weekend anyone?
-
Well after reading this I have made the decision to trek some 600km's from Canberra to see this... its worth it

Its true for all cars being complianced under the SEVS scheme, all cars imported must be stock and not severly accident damaged. Alot of compliance places will have stock items to fit to it for compliancing then put the modifications back on, but you might also have to destroy the mods and purchase stock parts to go on it.
