Ok well in an effort to boost this up, how about we all meet at the Caltex service station (on the other side of the round-a-bout from Supercheap/Red Rooster) in Queanbeyan at 10:30AM? Most people on the forums seem to know that servo, and its a nice big carpark and then we can decide where to go from there? So unless anyone has any objections, 10:30AM, Saturday morning, 7th Feb

Dont know if they still do it, but check out BDL Car Stereo in Fyshwick... theres also Autobarn who do some decent alarms.

Also spotted a black r33 gtst going down Wiluna Street in Fyshwick at 3PM
-
Spotted a white R33 GTSt on that road that goes past russel offices out to fyshwick/airport at around midday today
-
Croydon Racing or Hills Motorsport will be doing it.

Yeah I got the Arias kit from rocket industries for mine (20 thou overbore or .5mm) and no complaints from here.

dont think thats a problem, plus im keen to see a 350Z up close and personal (without the guy at Nissan putting the hard sell on me to buy one)

Theyre crap, want to sell them to me or trade for Blitz DD setup? Being serious though, ive been told by many a shop they can hold decent amounts of boost without leaking (upwards of 1 bar). If you do take them off, send me a PM as ill be extremely interested in buying them. The Blitz ones are cool and all, but nothing compares to the woosh noise the stock ones make.

Wierd stuff like this can happe on dynos. A club in Canberra recently had a dyno day using shootout mode on a dyno dynamics and we had a Honda Civic non vtec sohc (i think? mightve been dohc) run on the dyno. All previous runs this made around 55-60kw at the wheels, but this one particular run something went wierd and it went up to almost 100kw at the wheels (thats almost integra type r figures). Not disputing the one above isnt real, just seems pretty hard to believe still running low mount turbos, mightve been dyno error?

sxygtst you up for lunch next thursday at that place? Ive got my car here today but couldnt make it unfortunately.

Not to mention if you have a front end accident, instead of the bonnet going back into just above the firewall and crumpling, its going to miss that section and come straight through the windscreen meaning you have a good chance of decapitating you and your passangers

Thanks for the input Ive been looking at the HKS unit, anyone use this? And how much do the Autronic ones go for, and who sells them? I was going to use this money for intercooler/camshafts but seems this wont be happening

I currently have an R32 GTR with moderate mods including exhaust, airfilters, z32 airflow meters, apexi power fc, apexi avc-r, hks gt2530 turbos, rebuilt engine with forged internals and extensive head porting job. The car was tuned last night, and its running good (no more puffs of white smoke as you come onto boost), but the tuner mentioned the ignition system could use an upgrade and reccomended moving to a CDI style ignition system. Now im not totally familiar with this area of cars, so what are peoples input on this? Is the Splitfire system I always see for sale for $1000+ a CDI system, and would it work OK? Any help/advice/input would be most appreciated, thanks.

What has been the best phrase someone has shouted at you

Ahaha thats the funniest story ive ever seen on here -
The airbag was optional on the later R32 GTR's, unsure about GTSt's. But mines a 1992 model and has the same visor, so I guess Nissan were planning on putting airbags in so just used one generic sunvisor with the srs warning on it to save costs.

SERIOUS NEWS -- 15 Year Rule WILL CHANGE ON 1 JAN 2005
Amaru replied to dAVE's topic in General Automotive Discussion
As an R32 owner all I can say is im happy there doing this. The last thing I need is a bunch of beaten up 89 GTR's coming in and ruining the value of all skylines (whos going to buy an r33/r34 when a dealer sells them an "immaculate" gtr for the same price thats actually an 89 beater?) But thats just my opinion. -
Yeah, I have had my GTR since September 2003 and only put 2500km's on it but love it everytime I drive it. I underestimated the running costs majorly... mainly tyres and brakes. But I love the car, you cant get rid of the grin from ear to ear as you hop in. If youre expecting a nice soft ride (even with stock suspension) and something good on fuel, youre going to be in for one hell of a shock. The suspension is fairly stiff from factory (I still have the original GTR shocks in mine), and in a car like this you cant help but give it a bit now and then, so the fuels gone pretty quickly too. My only advice would be get the car thouroghly checked out. Despite what anyone trys to tell you, a GTR is bought because its a quick car, you dont buy a GTR to put around in. The cars are getting old, and an upto 15 year old twin turbo engine is going to be getting a bit "long in the tooth". There are still good genuine low km good examples out there, but be prepared to pay a higher price for these ones.

u cant f@#k wit da ***po-lice*** (and rta and various others)

Will do, have already lined up a catch can to install tonight. Thanks for your help, will let you know how it goes
-
Yeah when it was running in I followed everything I was told, putting it under load (going up a steep hill in 4th/5th gear at low rpm with two guys in it, me and my friend, and were not exactly small  ) never idle for too long, always varying rpm so never to keep it on a constant rpm and accelerating from 50km/h in 4th/5th upto 4500/5000rpm then backing off. Im pretty confident it was all run in properly.
-
It has only started happening in the past few days. The mechanic mentioned he might need to run an oil catch can, which I was going to do anyway, then checked the pcv breather pipes and intake pipes, and theres next to no oil in there. I would have thought after 2500kms the oil rings would have bedded properly?

yeah id come, im always down for a coast cruise
-
Id come, but hopefully I'll be up in Sydney getting a dyno tune sorry

Hi all, I have an R32 GTR which just had the engine rebuilt 2500kms ago. Its running HKS GT2530's which are also 2500kms old and a Power FC. The car was running beautifully on and off boost (didnt hit above 0.2 bar boost for first 1000km's, not above 0.5 bar till 2000kms, now hitting 0.8 bar). The car is running way to rich and is being tuned in the very near future. A problem has come up though, when coming onto boost the car gives a quick puff of white smoke, then goes brown/black as its overfuelling. I took the car back to the engine rebuilders, and he suggested its fuel vapourising in the exhaust from how rich its running, and although rare, he has seen it happen before. What are other peoples take on this? I know constant white smoke is head gasket failure/cracked head/stuffed turbo, but this just makes a small puff as its coming onto boost and then it doesnt happen again. Any ideas??
