  1. I have a boomerang in mine and its a piece of cr#p. But it just might not be hooked up properly, not sure. Doesnt turbo time properly (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt), and it takes it upon itself to occasionally remote start without me telling it to. For example I was filling up with petrol when the car just suddenly started, and another time was about to take intake piping off and just before I stuck my hand into the engine bay, it started. I think for the money theres better out there.
  2. Saw a wine red R33 GTS-t going towards Manuka today (I was turning off to Fyshwick) and a charcoal R32 GTR with V-Spec II stickering going up Monaro Highway towards Fyshwick (seen it a few times now in the mornings on the way to work). EDIT: Forgot to add spotted Shell's car quite often at work although i dont see it as much anymore
  3. Yeah the release date is for early next year, Ralliart are only bringing in 100 units (its another Ralliart dodgy like the Evo 6.5), and price is expected to be around the same as the STi, so around $55,000. Theres actually a few in Australia already, and I live in Canberra and have seen a growing number of Evo 7's and 8's running around... bastard
  4. If anyones coming just to look and bringing their skyline, should cruise through Braddon on Friday night, it gets absolutely packed on summernats weekend, and is awesome to see cars of all sorts (big oldschool v8's, imports, showy cars etc). Maybe even have a SAU meetup for drinks or something on Friday afternoon, then cruise out Friday night in one big precession?
  5. Yeah sorry I missed it... car wasnt ready and couldnt get a lift How many cars went?
  6. Sounds good, one mega cruise Dunno if ill be able to make it anymore, car has been delayed again, ill try and get a lift with someone though.
  7. I cant agree more with Ken... the cheaper the car, nine times out of ten, theres a reason for it. I picked up my car at the start of September for $29k (1992 R32 GTR with a few mods, Apexi FC, AVC-R, Z32 AFM's, rare Enkei wheels etc) which most would consider to be a rip off now (since GTR's are selling for $25k). But the thing that made me pay the extra cash for this car is I went to the trouble to have it checked over, and for an 11 year old car, it was near immaculate. Compression was at 160 across all cylinders, I could not find one burn mark on the interior, and it had just been professionally tuned. I actually believe the $29K I payed for mine was cheap, considering the condition it was in. But at the end of the day, a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. And theres a great saying I love, you pay peanuts and you get monkeys... meaning, you pay nothing for a car, then theres going to be something wrong with it.
  8. Check the fluid levels (to my knowledge there is two resivoirs in the boot, one for hicas and one for atessa) thats a common problem. Also, what sized rims are you running? Are they the same size front and back (e.g 18x9 front and 18x9 back or 18x7.5 front and 18x9 back?) You cannot run mismatched sized wheels on the GTR (well you can but its not good for it) due to the way atessa works.
  9. I dont believe backing straight off in an oversteer situation is good. If you just jump off the throttle it will cause the weight of the car to transfer to the opposite side (what you feel when the car "snaps back"), and more often than not in a RWD car with some balls will cause the car to spin. Better option is to slowly move off the throttle but always keep the car accelerating/powered and control it with the steering wheel to pull it back in line. But thats just my opinion
  10. Hi all, Ive searched the forums but cant really find a definate answer, just some people saying yes it can be done easy, and others saying no it cant be done easy. Ive hit the limits of my stock fuel pump and am looking at replacing it with a Bosch 044. The car currently makes around 290kw at all 4 wheels. So...... 1) Can I just drop the new fuel pump in and bolt it up with relative ease? 2) If so, what is required to do? Can anyone thats done it share experiances? 3) Do I need to get a surge tank or can I just replace the pump? If I need a surge tank how much do they cost? 4) Does anyone have a Bosch 044 fuel pump for sale? Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys.
  11. Hey Nah its not back in the road yet, should (crossing fingers) have it back Friday afternoon... then the painful part of not being able to drive it hard till its run in Trojan are about the only place in canberra i havnt dealt with, had bad experiances with everyone else, and i was reccomended away from jakes. Was told although hes the best in canberra for power fc, he still cant get it spot on and its worth spending the extra cash going to sydney to get it tuned properly.
  12. Croydon Racing Developments (CRD) 9 Blaxland Street, Silverwater (02) 9648 4264
  13. EDIT Pro Engines in Queanbeyan for engine work (if the engines out of the car), Tez Automotive in Mawson for general stuff, servicing, installing things (camshafts etc). Only two places I would touch in Canberra (but thats just my personal opinion )
  14. When I bought my car from Sydney (I live in Canberra) I was looking at an NRMA check, but for the same price Hills Motorsports would check it over and do a compression test etc. If he/she is willing to take it to somewhere like this (Hills Motorsport, Croydons, Advanced Imports etc) it would be of more value to you than NRMA, as they work with imports all day long and would specifically know what to look at on the car for any problems. Make sure you get the rego + vin + engine number as well so you can revs check it... last thing you want is a car under finance and the seller 'do the harry' on you and not pay off the finance and the car is then repossessed off you
  15. Sounds similar to the cruise control setup thats been installed on locally delivered S15's (they have a seperate control unit for the cruise, its not run off the ecu).
  16. www.gtr.co.nz always seem to have everything you could ever want for a GTR at reasonable prices... try them.
  17. I'll vouch it was bought for drift... well at least setup for it But I wont give too much away from telling whats under the hood and wheel arches, thats upto Mark but its damn nice
  18. The ID tag would suggest they are GT2530's. It looks similar (the turbo) to what I have on my car (HKS GT2530's), but mine dont have Garrett stamped on them anywhere (just HKS). Could possibly be a HKS 2530 compressor with some sort of Garrett exhaust housing, but im not too sure.
  19. from the looks of it, extremely difficult. Theres no room in the engine bay whatsoever, the bonnet had to me modified (has what looks like a BA XR8 bonnet hump on it) to accomodate the cam covers... its a damn big engine squeezed into a damn small car... But im sure it could be done again, but it would involve money and time, as long as youve got both youre set. The engine was out of a Nissan Lepord (sp?) as I dont think the VG30DETT would fit in much besides the 300ZX (double the amount of piping). I might see him out tonight, if I do ill have a talk to him and see where it was done, what it involved etc if you like.
  20. I know someone with an S13 Silvia with a VG30DET in it. Has some mods like a Trust TD-06 turbo, upgraded fuel system, intercooler, 20psi boost etc, makes over 250rwkw... the thing is an absolute monster ... if it didnt have quite so much traction issues itd definately give quite a few unmodified/lightly modified GTR's a run for their money
  21. You need the same size tyres all round... doesnt matter what size, as long as all 4 corners are the same. I have the same size tyres on mine, and the rear ones are worn out more than the front, and on the way home down the highway it was doing that surging thing like you said. That should give you an indication of how sensitive it is.
  22. Well since the old thread seems to have been deleted, will post this up again. For those interested, im trying to organise a cruise for te 14th of December. At this point in time meetup will be at the Caltex service station in Queanbeyan at 10:00AM for a 10:30ish leave. Probably head down towards batemans bay, but can decide that amongst those who come on the day. Would be great to see everyone out, and it should be nice cruising weather! Hope everyone (or most) can make it.
  23. Argo rods with ARP 2000 bolts are good for upto 11,000rpm and 1000hp (or so I was told), this is what I was looking to replace my stock rods with.
  24. Ive got an R32 GTR with 2530's and power fc (and avc-r) and my god it flys, as you probably should be able to tell by my smashed gearbox and clutch (quarter mile attempt #1 gone wrong) The car made 309kw on a dynopak dyno, so this is around the 280-290kw mark at all wheels. It was a pretty good tune I guess now (in hindsight), car never detonated, but I was frequently getting warnings from the Power FC that the injector duty cycle was 90%+ when I was full throttle coming upto 7000rpm. My advice would be; Power FC, HKS 2530/GT-RS, HKS adjustable cam gears, new fuel pump, new injectors and if youre budget can stretch it, a HKS step 1 (256 degree) exhaust camshaft... the exhaust camshaft makes quite a large power difference, and on a similar setup to my car previously, would make 50kw more at the wheels than the best I could do.
  25. Hi all, Danny I dont suppose you own this GTS-R? http://www.syndicatemotorsports.org/cars/s...skylinegts.html If so, I had the opportunity to meet you once back here in Canberra at a Syndicate dyno day and fell in love with your car! Just thought id share this if it is your car, and theres alot of disappointed people back here in Canberra that wanted you to do their formal (and I dont blame them)
