I think that is the best thing to do, is just ask. And if the pricing is similar, i think i will go for the supercharger just coz well, its original, how many SC skylines do you see??, and yeah the low down torque would be insane, it would be alot of fun and possibly a little scary in the wet.....WazR32GTSt - i like your 2c

Well personly i put my h/u in the bottom slot and wacked a stuffed toy in the top slot(chicks did a cute stuffed monkey)but only coz i plan to fill the slot in the not so distant future with a in dash tv and put a ps2 in the glovie......tv's are as little as 300 on ebay now, brand new, 12month warranty, i dont care if its homebrand, as long as the thing works and i can play ps2 and dvd's in my car.......

I love my setup, its cheap as chips and goes sweet as, i think the general size of an r32 really helps sound quality, i desperately need some good front splits, i found that 6.5" are near imposible to fit...the hard way(bought them), good thing they were home brand, i am now thinking in the direction of 4" fusion powerplant fully crossed components for the front.....easy fit no messing around, as for removing the metal out of the back seay, you got more patience than me, i drilled clean into it for my amp lol.....

Well a pretty respectable tuning shop told me that and they know there skylines pretty good, they pretty much said it would be easier just to buy a half cut and do the lot.........

So you believe that it would be just as cheap to run a turbo setup, i have considered this but have been told that the engine is too highly compressed for this (thus one of the problems for all forced induction), i have also been told that the holes required to attach the turbo exhaust manifold and such dont exsist on the N/A block. I think the compression is the greatest problem for this investigation, and the need for a the ecu to be upgraded. If the turbo setup was to be put on and running very low boost (6psi) with a front mount intercooler. Would this be possible, because there seems to be problems with both ideas, turbo and supercharger, in the mounting of either charger. Which is most feasable/possible/affordable and give the greatest gain.

Right well i got R32gts25, lightest line with the biggest n/a engine, best combination. Got NFI of power but mods are a k&N panel filter and a big cannon muffler for 'pure rice fx', i cant afford a full system at the moment so i just made my car look like it atleast has one, sounds like it does to.

"Ive been in a 32 and 33 that have had this done, they were both good. the 33 was using non turbo injectors and a link ecu, and a maximum of 6psi boost. The RB25DE have a 10.5:1 compression ratio which is not too boost friendly. If you had a front mount intercooler you might be able to go higher. " - is this for a turbo set up or supercharger?? The aim of this investigation is to get some cheap horsepower, thus why using an old toyota charger just coz its cheap as chips, if you could run 6psi through the toyota charger and a front mount (something small and cheap, ie:supra intercooler=370mm x 280mm x 75mm) and and spend the most money on a good computer to get the right tuning............if an extra 50-60rwhp is possible then it would be good. Also some extractors to help out with the extra exhaust gasses

Yeah if you drive like a mad man on speed i strongly sugest you dont go for this option, but if you have some self controll then all you have to worry about is those that hit you and dont have 3rd party property them selves(hopefully these are a low number of drivers, i personly would refuse to drive without it), then of cause you have accidents where people run into you in a car park and such, which some parasite did to me (i am not very happy) but taking into consideration that claiming this on insurance would incure a excess bill wich in alot of cases is greater than that of the repair bill, and you have to restart your N/C bonus earning all over again. OH and BTW, with my policy i am earning a N/C bonus but at half the rate of someone with full comprehensive.

This topic was brought up in a topic about turbo conversions and i was real keen on the idea but wasn't totaly shure of the problems that may arise as a result. All i wanted to do was to put a very small low boost set up(6-7psi) to give the car that extra go that we all crave. The idea for a cheap setup was put forward buy FUNKYMONKEY, to use a supercharger of one of the old toyota engines that utilised them in the late 80's-early 90's, these go relatively cheap and can be picked up for as little as 2-250 at a wrecker or over ebay. Then aparently you would need a custom manifold ( was wondering if you could plum the return of the intercooler to the existing manifold, which would eliminate some costs). Now this all sounds great, and the results would be quite good value for money, but some questions need to be answered. So if there is any technicly minded people out there that may have a fair idea of what the results would be, please enlighten me. Problem #1 - Computer - I get the feeling that a fully programable aftermarket computer would be required and if this is so..then well it start to take the shine of what could be a realy cheap power up, considering some of the computers are going for $2000 plus, the microtech mt8 would be the cheapest option coming in at 1100. Problem #2 - Fuel system - Is the standard system up to the job??, is it different to that of a GTS-t, if so, the gts-t injectors would be able to cope with low boost aplication with the supercharger having similar stains on the engine as the stock turbo. Problem #3 - Compresion - Would the standard compression be to much for even a mild boost application, if not would a thick metal head gasket lower the compression enough to support the SC, and would this result in a loss of top end power which is pretty sweet at 5000rpm on the rb25. Well sorry for the essay, but these are my thoughts and it would be a very different sort of power up and could have alot of potential for those on a budget. Any thoughts????

Well i got an R32 GTS25, and i knew that comprehensive was going to be out of my price range so i got 3rd party property insurance (upto $20million) and fire and theft insurance (to $10,000) and this cost me $526p/a.....i thought this was pretty decent, this is through Elders insurance, i've heard from others that there very quick to process claims. I pay this monthly and its about $45...which for those on a budget is easily manageable.

Mine gets from 100-160 very nicely, with out effort infact, i am keen to put some more power into the car though, xtractors etc, any one considered adjustable cam gears, its about 500 a set for the hks items, any thoughts.......oh BTW N/A skyline makes for a very good first car.

There is one on ebay right now, brand new with a starting bid of $500 and no one has bidded on it. I would buy it apart from being dirt poor and not knowing the full benifits that it will offer.

I hate them speakers in the front i was hoping to put something in there wack the factory cover back on and forget about em but what brand make 6x4 or 5x4 or what ever they are...seriously, i found some vdo 90watters that i almost bought but the screw holes didnt line up, so i figured if i was gunna have to dick around trying to fit some shitty speakers in i might aswell save my time and get some good ones. So now i am looking for some competition class splitts......will watch this thread to see if any one has a recipe for installing them.
-
LOL, i wasnt going to say anything but now that its sold it doesnt matter but they had 10" pioneers in a box at autobarn for 149 lol, brand new
-
i going for the panel filter, some one has dyno graphs of its effect in another post (r33 power in stock i think??) Panel doesnt attract unwanted attention either.

Glassn the tyre well is good cause you can use this room to build up the litres required to make the optimal cabinet for your sub(usually specified in your sub owners manual)This method was covered in a hot 4's magazine and the end result was quite impresive, unshure of what issue i may look for you, prob is my hot 4's are all buried by hpi (i stopped buying them and started to read a real mag) cheers - Geordie

----trick looking rear speaker shelf-----
geordie replied to nizmokid's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
You can directly hook the neon to the same wire that connects your speakers, this will tap into the power of the amp and create a cool strobing effect every time the bass hits. Can get annoying if you want them to continuisely run. -
Yeah i just unbolted the baby capsule holding thingys, then used force to lift the shelf oout, then turned it sideways and pulled it out best i could (as far as the power cable for the fan would allow) then fumbled round with the factory speakers, there was very little room available, its tedious but not impossible, patience is required.

yeah i would be interested in seeing what you have done.

Conversion from 4 Stud to 5 Stud Wheel Hub
geordie replied to lambo's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
There are r33 front brakes for sale at JMS, thats all i can add -
My r32 doesnt go to bad, its not level but the turbo doesnt get a full length on me, but the turbo i raced has a few probs to iron out, my cars got a 2.5ltr so yeah its a evenish comparision for the r33, mine a bit lighter though, got nfi what the power is though.
-
Yeah well i had enough trouble tryna get my rear parcel shelf out coz i got the fan for the pasengers in the on the rear shelf and it doesnt have a nice clip power like the other things around the car and i wasnt to keen on cutting the cable to get it outa the way, i got em in though just gotta bolt the parcel shelf back in nice and secure so that the fan stop vibrating against the rear window, i also wanted to retain the factory grills so that it looks stock.
-
We all say that, i just hope its sooner rather than later lol
-
Well i draged my mates r33 turbo and he only got 1/2 a length on me but his car is having soe serious probs atm........still i will forever remind him hehehehe
-
I need an all of the above, my old man was alot happier about me getting this skyline and when mine came up it was right price, low kays and imaculate condition, but i am already hungry for more power coz i gotta keep up with all my friends who have turbo.....but i will get there one day.
