  1. Put it on, if you dont have the engine bay will get dirty very quickly, and you will get water on the belts.
  2. Mass, that car is awesome, i was drooling over it a couple of weeks ago. Congratulations mate!
  3. R33 GT badge in the door cavity of my previous 33.. I was searching for what was rattling around in my door!
  4. At least he didnt go all soft and back off.
  5. The timing thing is complete nonsense.. In relation to the steering, some cars seem to be affected by heavy steering after removing hicas and some are not.. When i fitted my hicas lock bar i did not remove the control unit and my steering was not affected. IMHO i would suggest leaving the control unit in.
  6. This ebay trader sells the kits for $1400 + $200 postage to Australie http://stores.ebay.com.au/performance-guru
  7. Thanks for that, its good to see credible information being posted. I understand the regulations you have posted, however if you have say an aftermarket exhaust, is it required to have it engineered to be legal or would it be legal to have one fitted with no proof that it does not exceed the OEM noise level? Did the epa mention this in your communication with them?
  8. Hey, i cant offer any advice other than dont drive without a license, but do you mind saying where and when you got caught doing that speed?
  9. Received my lines today, thanks for putting the effort in to organise this
  10. I dont think the nismo ones would be approved. From memory to be ADR approved they need: 1.Plastic coating 2.Little caps on the end where the line meets the fittings to stop the line from kinking 3.Details related to the manufacture of the line which i cant clearly remember but include stuff like the reference number of the machine they were made on and 2 other things.
  11. If you dont mind sharing, what was done and how much was it?
  12. I feel so sorry for p platers these days.
  13. I dont think you will get them much cheaper than from that ebay seller, i got fronts and rears from him they are the same price, i got great service from him. I just put a new set of fronts and rears in last night
  14. I should probably explain a bit more, they vibration is definitely only cause by the grooves, and not because the disk was warped/runout whatever.. The disks are only a few months old, while i was driving a few weeks ago the pad material tore off the backing plate after which the backing plate came in contact with the disk and created the grooves. As soon as it happened i stopped the car and got it towed home. Before that incident, the disks were absolutely perfect, no vibration whatsoever, and as i said, nearly brand new. When i dropped the disks off one was 29.95mm and the other which had the grooves was 29.74 as measured in the grooved area. When i picked them up the good one was 29.18 and the grooved one was 28.99. So not only did they machine slightly more off the one that was perfect, they are different thicknesses. It seems they just picked approx 0.75mm out of their arse and decided to chop that much off both without any thought. I specifically told them when i dropped them what happened, and made sure they understood that they should only take the absolute minimum off. When i picked them up i expressed my concerns on why so much had been taken off and they just like well thats how much was required which seems to me complete BS. I notice the degradation in braking performance as the disk thins out and i go through brakes reasonably quick anyway so it is a concern for me
  15. Yes of course they do, that is not what i want to know. To be more specific, assuming there was no visible grooves, just the usual shudder that develops, how much is generally shaved off? And say you have to shave off 0.2mm off one side but only 0.1mm off the other side, would you just shave 0.2mm off each side to make the rotors even thickness, or shave off the minimum off each side and leave the rotors slightly different thicknesses?
  16. I got my disks machined yesterday due to some vibration caused by some grooves worn into one disk. Apart from the grooves on one of the disks they were in perfect condition without any shudder etc, and only a few months old. They machined 0.75mm off one disk, and 0.77mm off the other disk. Since they have 2mm of life this means they have machined off approx 40% of the usable disk. When you get your disks machined for whatever reason, what is the average amount of material machined off? Is this normal or am i justified in being really pissed off?
  17. They used to be approx $240. They have gone up in price, and now sell for approx $300 from most places... i did the ring around when shopping for new pads recently to discover this unpleasant surprise
  18. Shipping is $60 PER TYRE! So really, $940 plus fitting (with the possibility of discount on shipping, but still!)
  19. Just spoke to Fuel Direct where i got my last lot of Delvac 1, price has gone up from $180 for 3x5L to $230+ delivery. Also called Motorex in SA (saw that others have ordered from there) and they said they dont sell Mobil anymore, only Valvoline. Looks like cheapest group IV oil is now Motul 8100 assuming you can still get it for $59. I think ill go have look for that this weekend. Does anyone know where to get Delvac for around $60/5L anymore? Any good deals in Sydney right now?
  20. Not sure...use a magnet to see if its cast iron or aluminium. 300zxs use 3 types: http://www.princeton.edu/~asad/zbrakes/
  21. I would be interested! I drove from Sydney to Alice Springs and back, altogether covered about 8000kms in 11-12 days. We got just over the border of NT (Kulgera) in 2 days.
  22. Are you sure they arent the TS2000 aka Formula? If they are, they are good pads for the money, they should cost about $180 not 200.
  23. I have spoken to a few brake shops about the SRT pads when shopping for a new set a few weeks back. The consensus i got was they they are designed to be comparable with Ferodo DS2500s, and are not even really comparable with ultimates. One shop said they had feedback from a guy who used the SRTs and DS2500s and he had good things to say about the SRTs. The SRTs are ~$250, DS2500s ~$300 for DB1170 Havent heard anything about the 'Race' pads..
  24. Dont take this the wrong way, but they are rubbish tyres that are used for compliance and by cardyards because they are dirt cheap. If you like them you need to try something decent to redefine your standards.
