As posted in the other thread (and ill post him up again later for others) Threadman (Colin) 0414 237 354 He can do it, and he does it for a good price
-
27-31 is correct, John, if you tighten the shit out of the studs when insterting into the head i will assure u that u will strip the thread, its alloy ie very soft and easy to stuff up threads its very easy to change the studs dont stress about that, the thing you should be stressed about is if there are broken ones, and if more break when u remove it. this is the best way (i think) remove everything in one day if there are any snapped off studs that u cant get out then get a guy in the next day refit on a third day and if u are lucky and nothing is broken then u can do it all in one day btw the guy i used for threads: Threadman (Colin) (awesome helpful guy) 0414237354 pull the heatsheild off now and have a look for broken studs so u know if u need to order in the extra washers u might need or u will be stuck for them later. also make sure u have new copper washers for the banjo fittings on the turbo.
-
yeah all the little bits add up. nissan ones are fine(too late anyway ) they are just mild steel studs.... hopefully u wont have any studs that are already snapped off, because then u will need more washers, there are two washers (one thick one thin) for each nut that holds the manifuld on, and if there are snapped off studs then the washers fall off with them. borrow a torque wrench from someone (i dont have one either i borrowed) because u will definetly need it. pics of replacing the manifold and in the second pic u can see the two washers i am talking about. on three cylinders(i think) there are thicker thick washers than on the others.
-
its not hard to change them, although chances are there will be a few broken ones. altogether i had 4 broken studs, 2 we got out with an ezi out the other two i had to get a guy in to put helicoils in. To remove studs all you do is tighten two nuts together onto the stud and unscrew it from the head, same procedure to put new ones in. they become brittle with age(even though they look fine) and there is no way you would leave the old ones in if you have the manifold off already. when u undo the nuts u do them from the outside cylinders in and the inside to outside when doing them up and make sure they are done with a torque wrench with even torque. its not hard to do if you are good with your hands, you will need to remove intake piping, then dump pipe and turbo, then manifold, then studs and put back in reverse order. id be happy to give some advice if u need it over the phone just pm me. pic of helicoiled hole in head

Explain My Tyre Wear Pattern To Me
siksII replied to AlexCim's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i had the same thing but on a MUCH larger scale on monday, there were literally molten rolls of rubber coming off the front of the tread about three times the size of yours -
yeah that sounds about right, get it. why are you changing it? you should change all the studs at the same time, and also the nuts as some of them would have lost their locking effect.
-
It is definetly not reusable, you are asking for trouble if you do. It has a layer of metal in the centre with soft material (i think graphite based) on either side, so 3 layers. I just changed mine, its about $100 from nissan

It has been asked a few times so a search would have got you your answer but ill post because what wink posted is incorrect and im sure u want to know the correct info (no offence wink!! ) both turbos have ceramic exhaust wheels series one has steel compressor wheel series two has plastic compressor wheel the problem with them is the exhaust wheel which is the same on both, so the series two turbo is better as it spools up quicker with no real negatives.

Tein Super Street Or Hks Hypermax D?
siksII replied to flagger's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i had hypermax-d's and i sold them and got whiteline suspension. i doubt they would be that new im not even sure they make them anymore... when i sold mine i didnt know how many ks exactly but i told the guy at least a few years worth! anyway if you are really set in getting japanese coilovers just shell out the extra and get the aus spec teins they will be heaps better overall than the hyper-d's. or even better buy bilstein shocks and whiteline springs plus adjustable bushes and swaybars which you could get for approximately the price of the teins. btw i think 1200 for any second hand shocks is not a fair price unless you know 100% that they are very close to new. i sold mine for 500 plus postage.. much more and i would have felt i was ripping the guy off edit: also wanted to add that with the whiteline suspension i have now i you can drive a lot faster over almost any road when compared with the coilovers. -
That doesnt make any sense, it has to leak otherwise where would all the water from the overflow bottle go? I had this problem on my old skyline and it turned out to be the headgasket slowly leaking coolant when the system was at very high pressure. Take the car to a radiator shop and get them to pressure test it, they shouldnt charge you much and i reckon they will find a leak

installation is important, not so much the alarm. personally if i were you i would get a cheaper alarm (than a brant!), then find a very good installer and spend your money with them. a tracker is the best option, ezitrak is a good system.

i would recommend bel due to quality work and their attitude which is completely different(better!) to other workshops i have had any experience with. Prices are realistic too.

siksII replied to 2BNVS's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
CAI box sold to me, free bump. -
The nos runs were the most entertaining i saw all day, a close second was the zed at the end of the day.. I strongly agree with some others that were there all day that there was definetly some fishy figures coming out, in particular the high ones (maybe not high enough) and the low ones (too high!) Either way i dont care it was a awesome day to watch and chat with the other guys.

Tyres you use(d) and how u would rate them
siksII replied to ZigenGT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
How so? well what i mean by sporty qualities is that they will last longer before turning to mush, grip more, and have stiffer sidewalls that improves grip and steering feel etc etc. for cars its different, sport is the better one just look at the michelin website if u want to see for yourself -
Performance Exhaust Vs Epa Legal Noise (92db) !
siksII replied to GTR34-Vspec's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
it depends what u mean by silencer, it has to be permanent so nothing that just bolts in, ie those silencers that come with xforce exhausts wont do the job. if u weld in another muffler that makes your exhaust quiet then that is fine. -
the a/c fan does not work until approx 91 degrees.

lol mona well kings cross is on the way to my local pie shop, harrys, and the other place, well thats walking distance so if i was visiting i would take the back entrance and not spot any skylines anyway
