hey, i dont think you should import, as you will not know the condition of the car until it arrives. fair enough u will save some money, but best to buy one locally if you know exactly what condition of car you want. its not like there is no choice locally... once again ill mention, in pics cars always look good. even if the paint was shit in real life it will look good in pictures. since that car was complied under the new system i very much doubt it would have been in an accident, so i would not worry about that. so yeah, dont import if u are picky with condition, also who wants to wait months....
-
no problem, i have seen the car for sale in the fs section, probably bought as a stock car (easier to comply) so good in that way, with rego it would be 17500 right? thats quite cheap the market is down now.. with cars u will always lose a bit, but obviously if u get it cheap to start with its a different matter. the price is good on that car u r looking at so as long as its a good car go for it... i will bet that it has been resprayed, all the red ones have, the colour fades quicker than others when left in the sun for years, so have a good look at the paintwork make sure its not too messy.

hey i sent 11 pics of my current 33 and my old 33, both were that same red colour, i personally like the colour, and it happens that i sold my old 33 because the guy specifically wanted that colour because he had never seen it before.. ive added some pics to this post so others can have a look

hey mate, im not sure where u got the info about numbers lining up straight but it is BS, even the numbers on a brand new car may not be always straight go look for yourself. and with the way the clusters work, if the numbers were not straight(enough to stand out) the mechanism would probably stuffed and the numbers would not turn much anyway. i inspected one car which the importer insisted genuine kms 'i only buy the best, good cars, with log books etc', took the car for a drive, odo didnt even work! i have inspected HEAPS of gtsts, gtrs, 180sxs for friends and myself and i hope you believe me when i say that there is no way to really know how many kms the car has done, only assume that it HAS been wound back, because most of them are (even though everyone seems to think they have that rare low km example yeah right!!) assume they all have average kms for their age, so most would have around 130,000kms.. my old gtst had 120,000kms on the clock and the interior was like brand new, not a mark on it, and the seats were barely worn, so just because the interior is perfect doesnt mean it has "low" kms. only judge on condition, check if things have been removed bolts missing etc in the engine bay, check the body for any bad repairs (most have been repainted, and mostly not very well either!) and check interior for missing parts and marks etc. another thing is, all of them look good in pictures, trust me. i have seen heaps of photos on the net of interiors and exteriors where they look great, and in real life they are shitters. so dont assume anything looking at the pics. btw i have a series 2 gtst in that rare red colour, if u want i can email u pics of it so u can have a better look at the colour.

the car is a series one with options, the alsd was an option, and you could get a passenger airbag as an option as well. i have seen other series ones with dual airbags.
-
just park the car in a similar bad location and wait there.

at my old place my parents bought a sedan that was quite low, couldnt get over the edge going down to the driveway, within a couple of weeks they got construction people in, they jackhammered the concrete down and relaid half of the driveway so it was a smooth angle lol

you should really change the filter, if u quickly pull the old one off and then put the new one on u wont lose much oil just do it and if u do lose a bit just top it up.
-
yeah as cubes said what oil are u using? and cubes, i put some 10w60 castrol (bloody expensive though!) in my old car it certainly used less then when running 5w40 i bet u if u take your cooler off there will be lots in there, there usually is if it has never been flushed i doubt it is a turbo seal, and if it is blowby, which i think it is, i dont think its something to worry about since ur saying its only a very small amount. i would be more worried if it was a turbo seal, that means u need a new one, if its some blow by it means get a catch can and live with it, its not the end of the world!
-
people change them, but the are meant to be blue. probably some ricer in japan, pretending to have a turbo the first time i saw blue gt badges on a 33 was in chinatown maybe 2 years ago, as the owner was approaching the car i said hi and asked if it was a turbo (was not sure about the badge issue back then) he told me it was, i had a closer look and it wasnt
-
could be using very thin oil, might want to try a thicker oil to reduce it, and if there is a fair amount get a leakdown test, you could have worn rings. an r33 i had before my current one had heaps of blow by, but perfect compression. this was put down to when the previous owner had it rebuilt, they ran it in with mobil 1 full synthetic so the rings never bedded in properly. in my current r33, there is next to zero oil in the intake even after very hard use
-
blue gt badges come with non turbo r33s, so not really rare, his should have come with them as it is non turbo
-
yep i 100% agree, just because your compression is good does not mean it is not worn and will not produce blow by, and as na_r33 says if there is a fair bit it might cause pinging, but most gtsts i have seen have a bit mostly just due to their age (wear and tear) just depends how much. if u want to be safe get an oil catch can and make sure its got stuff inside like steel wool to seperate oil/air properly, and that its not just empty like a lot of them.

hey if u are talking about mixing concentrate with distilled water, generally you only need to mix around 1/3 concentrate with 1/3 water, and you would never put all the concentrate in!! changing the coolant wont give u a performance benefit you can feel so ill assure u that the gain u felt was in your head with the spark plug change unless your hands are very sensitive you can usually remove most of the stuff straight away when engine is hot, i usually use a rag when im touching hot parts when changing spark plugs so try that dont bother waiting u should be fine..

ah ok thanks heaps for all the info, i just hope my standard bilsteins are in 'the window' they certainly feel good! The car has excellent traction around corners, and very comfortable ride when compared with my old suspension (HKS Hypermax D (came on the car)) i would like to add bars later as well, although i can handle without, but when i do i hope the bilsteins are still in their 'window' as well! i also always thought that valving was related to height, now i know its not... -
a close friend's gtr was tuned at crd a few months ago, jim tuned it, spent about 40 minutes tuning, charged $500.

I Have A Set Of 32 Gtr Rotors...
siksII replied to krazyfilo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
ah ok i was not sure if the caliper could accept the extra 2mm. with z32s (and i assume skylines now or in the near future) you can get adaptor brackets so you can use the standard rotors with the bigger 32gtr rotors i think 324mm, UAS in sydney has them. -
i have used repco brand coolant with no problems. i bought premixed 10L bottle@ 33% its green and costs about $30

hey thanks for the info, so just to get this 100% straight, if i called whiteline and bought some bilsteins and whiteline springs for my r33gtst, they would be revalved? so the shocks i have now have different (original) valving than if the shop i bought them through got them from whiteline? because they told me whiteline does not change the valving (i wanted a whiteline setup) what difference does the revalving make assuming use of the whiteline springs at the original circlip height (25mm low)? sorry about all the questions! -

i have not idea if they will bolt up to a 180sx, sorry! but your plan sounds right i think it would all fit together. personally i would probably just buy rotors hubs and calipers together if i could, and then u only have the problem of fitting them to your 180 i know r32gtr rotors (the 324m ones) bolt straight up to a 300zxtt hub, so if you got the 300zxtt hubs assuming they bolt up to your 180 you could use the 300zxtt calipers and the discs you have now. -

thats not all correct, r32gtr discs are 32mm thick, where 33gtst rotors are 30mm thick. (refer to dba website) so im not sure if you can use 33gtst calipers, due to the extra rotor thickness. i know 100% that you can use the standard calipers off a 300zxTT with the 32gtr rotors. -

hey i have always wondered, are the bilstein shocks you buy through whiteline and the ones you are offering revalved, or are they unchanged from when they are delivered from the bilstein suppliers, and the whiteline springs have been designed with them in mind? i ask because i asked for a set of whiteline springs and shocks from from a shop in sydney, and they said they shocks are unchanged by whiteline, so instead of buying them through whiteline then selling to me, they just get them straight from bilstein. only odd thing i can see about my shocks is they only came with once circlip groove. -
and over before you know it since its full of entertaining turns, and even some small animals in the way too keep you alert

its easier to just drive the car onto a plank of wood then onto the ramp, same with jack (if jack is too high) which suburb are you in?
