  1. yes its the synchros common problem with skylines dont let it worry you too much try changing the gearbox oil, and if you are really desperate to fix it put in redline oil which costs about 3 times as much as most other stuff but seems to work (stopped crunching for me)
  2. this is correct only about 4-5psi before 4500 then 7-8 depending on exhaust etc after 4500
  3. i think that also depends on if you have an exhaust, because have seen about 1 bar on a stock gtr, and 1.1 bar on a gtr witha turbo back exhaust.
  4. most gtrs have the restrictor removed. its easy to find danny, just have a look at the boost solenoid and u will see one of hoses coming out with the yellow stripe, remove the restrictor under the yellow stripe if u want to do it.
  5. series1 r33 came with metal compressor wheel series 2 came with nylon compressor wheel (so did r34gtt) both came with ceramic exhaust wheel. I cant say for sure whether they are ball bearing but i always thought they were. the one on my old car had a bit of play i had it for 20,000kms no problems. they are cheap anyway just use it and dont worry about it.
  6. yeah fair enough i believe though that now u can get a slightly different unit (from wrxhoon again) which can be monitored by sattrack or whoever as he is an installer for them... but then u have to pay yearly fees and i think the unit is slightly more than the normal(self monitored) system.
  7. does it squeek when u push the clutch in too? then its most probably the master cylinder, have a friend watch/listen outside the car focusing on the master cylinder while u press the clutch and thats probably it.
  8. if the figures are only 2-3psi different across all cylinders i would not worry at all, this is the main thing u judge compression by, there are many factors that can stuff around your outright figure so dont worry about that. i would think your motor is in good condition. if there was say 10-15psi differences then thats a different story. do a leakdown test if you really want to be sure.
  9. i live near there too ill make a mental note i know the shell...
  10. depended on how cold the weather was usually around 4-7 a fraction above zero means there is definetly something wrong, either sender or oil pressure(doubt it) so go swap your sender over to check it out..
  11. lwells: just like a few others have said, PM wrxhoon on this forum about a tracking alarm, or pm me and i can get him to call you (but it wont be untill the weekend they are in japan) the tracking alarm from wrxhoon uses gsm to contact u and sattelite and will only cost about 1300. if you are not worried about your car getting stolen then just get the cheapest 3 point system u can get (around 400) anymore than that is a waste unles u get a tracker.
  12. warm idle should be about 2 if you know someone with the same car swap the oil pressure sender and see if it helps. its easy to swap over.
  13. i have always thought that they pass/fail the tyres depending on whether the wear markers have been reached... if they have then thats it.
  14. how do you mean cuts out? as in stalling and turning off? do you have an aftermarket blow off valve?
  15. sorry to hear it and i hope that drunk driver gets what he deserves, ive been hit by one too but i was lucky.
  16. as other have said, HKS is actually MOTUL OIL they are exactly the same product in different packaging, and the price is higher for no good reason.
  17. yeah they tune, they dont have a dyno at their premises though, the do road or dyno tunes, and i know several people who have had their cars tuned there that have delivered the goods...
  18. hey i inquired about storing custom plates a few months ago (all letters) and the rta told me that storage costs the same as having them on your car, i would assume that it is the same as with premium plates. also i was wondering, are you saying that since u got your plates before the new fees came in you dont have to pay? (always wondered)
  19. any brand oil filter will do... K&N will do fine.. use any fully synthetic oil as long as its the right rating ie. for an rb26 unless you are in a very cold climate, you should use at least 10-40. i wouldnt use the HKS as it is actually Motul repackaged and sold with a markup. mobil 1 (5-50 i assume) will be fine.
  20. the xforce ones are claimed to be legal (less then 90db) according to their listings on ebay. they come witha n adjustable silencer which makes them a defect itself but i think if removed the silencer alltogether it would become illegally loud.
  21. double clutch when u downshift if u cant get it into gear (google it if u dont know what it is) but still definetly change the gbox oil...u dont have to get redline but it seems to work (more or less got rid of crunching in my gtst box) very expensive though, u get it in 3.9L bottles and its $100-120
  22. i wouldnt buy from dealer either car i wouldnt import a gtr (too many things can be stuffed that u cant check) for a gtst buy it locally if u are looking at a series 1, for a series two u would save more (lots of owner seem to try and sell them for ageees at high prices and eventually give in) but i still would buy locally because u can see how the car is and u dont save that much..unless u get ripped off.
  23. i have done what u are planning... here are the details: 14 people were in the group it was in 2002 we hired the track for the whole day they called it corporate day or something they go karts were the fastest ones (i think 12hp) we had practice, qualifying and 2 GPs (i think about 20 laps each or something like that) it cost about 160 each so not cheap. but it was heaps of fun and i would consider it again for sure.
  24. i think its bad too, i would never paint any car that colour.. i think u can get either a lexus of bmw(cant remember) in a similar colour, looks bad IMO too.. but if it does it for you...
