  1. After you change the oil if it is still crunchy dont worry about it too much, it is very common and driving normally it shouldnt be too annoying, downshifting just double clutch if its that bad, but definetly dont go get the rebuilt just because of crucnhing, they are all like that
  2. i agree, its horrible
  3. tightening the crank pulley would be the same on most cars, it was just a dodgy mechanic...u dont need to waste your money at an import specialist to change the timing belt
  4. you can replace the turbos without lifting the engine, but it is very fiddly and may drive the mechanic mad, so it is prefferable to just lift the engine and replace them so if i were u i would just have the engine lifted while getting the tubos changed, and get the oil leak fixed at the same time. forget about rebuilding if its a simple oil leak, what for!??? plus u need to change the turbos(lift engine) anyway so even better.
  5. bel motorsport, unigroup, CRD($$$)
  6. You are very right and im sure most wrx and gtr owners would agree. if you like adjustability in the way the car handles(ie. more like normal sports car rwd fun) a gtr is much better, a wrx is much less interesting in comparison, not to mention slower. gtrs just feel more twitchy and active on the road it feels like a rwd, whereas a wrx just feels planted and very safe/stable (good if you are into that sort of thing..not me though;) )

    Finally

holy sh** how did it happen? spun bearing?
  8. i cant believe the fines are that much, do u know where u can look up how much all the fines are? or are they just pulling the figures out of their asses? im looking for car and am now factoring in the cost of making anything i buy legal since ive heard these figures! esp since i always drive around the city and bondi. scary.

    Finally

what did u do to it? i think i remember seeing u on the jervis bay cruise did u go on that?
  10. do u think the ban will be on everyone or p platers from after when the law is passed?(if the stupid thing goes through) because that would solve(slightly) the issue of current hipo young car owners having to sell their cars and lose lots of $$ because everyone is selling... i cant find any info on that subject..
  11. one thing i dont get it why are falcons and commodores banned.. ie falcon xt is about 1694kg and has 182kw 125kw per tonne means 125 times 1.694 = 211 so the falcon could have upto 211kw before being on the banned list.. am i thinking completely on the wrong track or something? explain? EDIT = sydneykid just deleted his post so my post is not relevant.. but i did read it in one of the news articles (falcons/commodores banned) but maybe they were reffering to hipo models.
  12. there is nothing u can do to test if the kms are genuine, forget the kms, just judge the car by condition, most imports are wound back. unless u personally know anyone in sydney that can do it for you its a bit hard... i would not reccomend nrma, for similar money arrange an inspection at one of the import shops such as CRD, call them up and tell them exactly what u want checked im sure they will do it for you.
  13. you would probably pay around 5 grand more(looking at how much they are for sale for here from a private sellers)atm) for a local one, prices for r32gtrs have doubled since everyone is importing the 89 models, in japan they used to be ~400000 now they are 800000 (10 grand, just the car btw.) but i would never consider importing one as with a gtr there is plenty of things that you would want to check out in person, if u import there is a chance that u will get a troublesome pile.... so i wouldnt do that if i were you..
  14. i wasnt driving, i drove there however.. in a red r33... i was passenger with my friend phillip, also in a red r33.. i will defeinetly be going to track days in the future... but only after i get my license back(2 weeks) and find a car! (who knows but im looking)
  15. Im pretty sure i know of the same guy, 4 of my friends got tint and my dad too.. anyway it was $60 to remove tint from my dads car (4 door sedan)
  16. good point... but i would assume that they want it in the standard position... but in the end who knows if they want to get u they will.. but i have always wondered about number plate placement..
  17. ive thought about it, and come to the conclusion that it is a lost cause. that newspaper is the most useless bogan-oriented newspaper thats only focused towards people that believe more or less everything they read that i really dont think they will take notice. then again, they would probably be very interested if i said i ran over 4 people on the street in my skyline equipped with a bonnet scoop. (and of course later on find out that i have previously lost my license) Also, i dont agree with their privacy policy, and i figure unless i post contact details what the point.
  18. go here and play around.. http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/myrta/myplates/i...ex.html?hlid=17 plates in nsw are pretty expensive though(for what they are anyway!)...
  19. you might be surprised, i have found that often genuine parts are pretty reasonably priced. but then again, sometimes they are not.....
  20. i can see the beggining of sau alco club meets... im screwed this coming week too many exams and right now i cant concentrate trying to finish an assignment because its too damn hot! Oz GTR02V did u sell your old car? i think i met u once ageees ago at EC white gtr right?
  21. aftermarket shocks will probably help, but all tein springs ive seen are wayy to stiff so yeah in combination with the probably worn shocks things are not working. new shocks will cost u more than 500 though... also your bushes might need replacement, (made apparent by new stiff suspension)
  22. sounds like the springs you got are way too stiff, which is usually the case with jap aftermarket springs, it would have been a safer bet to get some whiteline springs...or local ones where u know how stiff they are.. stiff springs in conjunction with your (probably?) stock shocks = adding to the problem.. so if i were u i would change the springs again.
  23. makes sense to me, im sure we have all thrashed the crap of out a small sh**box many times, which gives a similar experience to thrashing a faster car anyway! so i doubt it will stop hoons from continuing their activities, just in even more dangerous cars! btw the weather is crap isnt it! im trying to get some work done and i cant concentrate because of the heat!
  24. shonen, i think the market for these cars is already affected, a lot of people are turned off buying them, which explains why its hard to sell a skyline (unless very cheap) at the moment and even for a while past.
  25. well u know the pros and cons, wrx is a nice car, but a very different experience from a gtr, from the sounds of it, i think you should get a gtr, 95% convinced would be convinced enough for me! just be prepared for problems, but also for more fun
