R33 Skyline or RZ TT 6 spd. Supra ?
siksII replied to nismo33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hey, no offence, but have you been in a stock gtr/supra rz? i have not been in a supra, but have been in a couple of GTRs, and i would pay to see a STOCK r33 gtr run 12.8. with a decent launch i doubt you could run less than mid to late 13s. i would say closer to late 13s. and i mean real times as in go to wsid not out of a magazine or something. -
also i have a friend who had a h22a powered 5th gen prelude with: cam gears headers/muffler air filter lightened flywheel that car was fast! not as fast as my gts-t but not very far off either. (we never raced) my gts-t showed 165rwkw DD shootout mode(unigroup)... his prelude showed 108fwkw(CRD) which is pretty impressive for what it was!

lol u guys should relax. anyway i drove along side a gtir once on the freeway, we were going ~60km/h we both shifted back and gave it a squirt.... the gtir chopped me fair and square... by the time we were doing 120 he had about 4 car lengths on me. i had a r33 with a catback, dont know wat he had apart from an exhaust (obviously) the only defence i have is that he was alone and i had two passengers, but even without passengers im sure he would have been ahead.

no offence people,(especially pentae who obviously disagrees and is defensive..) but i find it funny that you are all saying the interior/exterior is immaculate, And that some you are also assuming that and immaculate interior means low kilometres. Plus that can never judge paint from pictures. paint always looks good in pictures. And, skyline interiors look new for a long time if taken care of. as an example, my old car was imported when less than 2 years old, with ~40,000kms on the clock (normal kms, so assuming not wound back but u never know, could be 240,000kms when i sold it, the car had 120,000kms on the clock, and the interior looked brand new, as in completely unmarked, fabric unmarked, no signs on wear or ANYTHING. steering wheel leather was like brand new too. the gearknob was replaced with a nice momo one, and the plastic surrounding the gearknob and hand brake had a few lines/leading to cracks in them. otherwise all original 96 model r33 interior. if i wound the clock back to 30,000kms, by some people logic, it is probably true because 'the interior is in concourse condition' wrong. -
it will just make the compression ratio slightly higher... not a noticeable difference in performance... if u knew how much oversize u can calculate the increase in compression..

I like the CCR for what it is, which is really one of those top speed supercars. if i had to pick a current supercar it would probably go in this order or preference: 1.ferrari enzo (although maybe a gt, it would be a hard decision ) 2.porsche carrera gt 3.pagani zonda 4.ferrari f360 challenge stradale (hardcore ) 5.porsche gt2 i would prefer a drivers car rather than an outright top speed car, although i see the attraction... CCR would be my top speed car of choice.. apparently it drives like crap untill you arre going at least about 80MPH (which makes sense) -
Bugatti Veyron - 736KW 4 Turbo 8.0L W16!!
siksII replied to knore's topic in General Automotive Discussion
yeah i agree about the f1 comparison it may be F1 INSPIRED but it didnt work, unless maybe they are inspired by minardi anyway here is a link which summarises why the veyron is crap, sorry about ruining your vision of this dream car mate when produced it will probably be limited to 218mph.. humiliatingly slow compared to their initial 252mph claim. http://www.cbg.ie/printtemplates/news.asp?nID=406 Added 4 August 2004 It has been hyped more than any other car. It was due to be launched two months ago and be capable of hitting a record 252 mph. But now it seems the Volkswagen Groups new supercar will be delayed until 2005 and could be coming with a new limited top speed of 218 mph. Just what are the problems that have dogged the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 and why might it even be 2006 before it is among us: Richard Oakley reports. As a D4 schoolgirl might say its like, oh my God, just soooooo embarrassing. You plan the worlds fastest production car. You put the drool-producing machine on public display at every motor show and you tell anyone wholl listen just how good it is going to be when it becomes available in April 2004. You boast about how it will be a 252 mph world-beater; better than anything Ferrari or Mercedes or BMW has ever done and faster than the legendary McLaren F1 or the Ferrari Enzo. Then as the world waits with bated breath and those with $1.2m get their cheque books out you realise there are problems. Not just minor, niggly ones either, but real ones if all the reports are to be believed. You deny there is anything wrong and you continue to do so; right up to the point where you can no longer hide the fact that your own deadline is not going to be met You then have to admit this to the world at a time when it emerges that the cars top speed may be, ehm limited to 218 mph. You also have to tell everyone that the car has yet to reach satisfactory standards. This is the unfortunate situation VW-owned Bugatti has found itself in. The company has hyped the Veyron so much that its continue failure to appear has made it a laughing stock. Despite the fact that Bugatti is building a car that should have everyone on bended knees offering thanks, it is getting nothing but bad press. Bugattis history as a maker of amazingly lavish, but spectacular failures is being dragged up as people question if VW has bitten off more than it can chew. Worse still there are suggestions in some parts that the Veyron is now tainted and will always be known as the supercar that had problems even it it lives up to its billing when we finally get it. It shouldnt be so. On paper this car is awesome. The figures tell you that. Two-seats, four wheel drive, a Formula-One inspired seven-speed sequential manual transmission. It has an 8.0-litre, W16, 64-valve powerplant with four turbochargers. It comes with an output of 1,001 bhp and 922lb-ft of torque at 2,200-5,500 rpm. It whips from 0-62 mph in three seconds and goes through 200 mph, 11 seconds later. On paper it is also well conceived. Structurally it has a single-piece monocoque body with front and rear aluminium sub-frames. Fresh air is ducted through grilles ahead of the rear wheels and on either side of the roof. At high speeds a rear spoiler is deployed to create extra downforce. This also acts as an air brake during an emergency stop. There is no escaping the problems, however, and the Veyron has had a few. They started last year with claims that the cars engineers were, not unsurprisingly, having difficulty efficiently dispersing the immense heat generated by the turbo-charge cylinders. The answer would be to cut holes in the bodywork of the car, but when its a designer product you just cant do that. Its not a racing car after all. Next it was alleged that test drivers pushing the Veyron close to its 252 mph limit found that it began lifting and that the steering was vague at high speeds. Bernd Pischetsrieder, the chairman of VW, tested the Veyron last summer and was reported to be concerned about the handling. There were publicity disasters too for VW and personnel changes increased suspicions that all was not well. A mule version of the car crashed at over 200 mph during testing and then there came the now famous incident at the first public demonstration of the car last August. The Veyron was wheeled out at an event celebrating Bugattis at the Leguna Race Track in California. A test driver got a little excited. The car swerved off the track and ended up in a gravel trap, just missing a concrete wall. There were also reports that Karl Heinz Neumann, the boss of Bugatti, had been let go. They were denied, but he retired by the end of last year. Now it seems all the above problems, which were also denied remember, have been resolved, but its now known they have played a part in delaying the car and knocked Bugattis confidence back a bit. As the cars release deadline, April 2004, arrived and passed there was more bad news. Sources close to the company told AutoWeek that Thomas Bscher, Bugattis new boss had made changes, one of which was a decision to limit the cars top speed to 218mph. The story, if true, suggests the rumours about stability problems at high speeds could have been close to the mark. Bugatti had to comment publicly about the delays and did, only to confirm that they could be longer than we thought. Citing demanding quality standards imposed on the car by parent company VW, officials confirmed that the first example of the car is not scheduled to roll from its assembly line in France until the second half of 2005. Newspapers reported informed sources as saying that it could, in fact, be 2006, and late 2006 at that, before the car is ready. Even if this new deadline is met a lot of damage has been done to the Veyron. Articles have appeared with panels referring to other white elephant cars such as the Renault Avantime and the Jaguar XJ 220. It hasnt helped that orders for the car are believed to be far below expectation. Just 300 will be made and it is believed at this stage that only about 25 have been ordered. If anything can improve this situation and make people forget its eventful development, however, it is the car itself. Despite the reported decision to limit the speed of full -production versions of the cars, Bugatti are to try for a world record for production cars later this year by pushing the Veyron to 252 mph. If it manages this, you can expect a flurry of orders, much triumphalism from Bugatti, and that photo of the Veyron in the gravel trap to be printed small beside a big one of the car smashing its way above 250 mph. Where did the Veyron come from? Ferdinand Piech, the former head of VW, was the man who rubber-stamped the Veyron project. More than one commentator had referred to Piech as an egotist and it was well known that he wanted the VW group to have one up on BMW and Mercedes when he was in charge. VW had bought Bugatti in 1998 and the Veyron, planned as the worlds fastest production car ever, provided the opportunity. When it is launched its 1001 bhp power output will far exceed that of any comparable car. -

its just a car, no need for being so defensive, if i have one other thing to say its that its NOT a concept car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People do not pay deposits to buy concept cars, the veyron used to be a concept car before they decided to make it and take peoples money!!! just because they decided to leave it in the concept section of the web page AS WELL AS in the models section doesnt mean its a concept, it just means their web page is stupid! -
i wasnt talking about when u drive to the shops every day  plus i was more referring to sydneykid's comment as he wouldnt be talking about day to day driving... my point was if the revs drop 3 grand when u change u would not have to wait for boost in a gtr if u shift at the standard redline i have been in a stock one and one with n1's (runs 11.7) (both r33) the stock one feels pretty slow not much fun there... the other one has ridiculous amounts of torque power in the midrange from about half way through second gear...and feels like it could pull hard wayy past 8 grand. (stock rev limit set on pfc)

at least its stock... even has the STOCK MUFFLER! i have only ever seen one of them in real life on a friends car.. as if its not wound back lol. also the rubber around the gearlever isnt cracked (on most cars its cracked) and the front lip looks like its in one peice.. but it is missing the snorkle for the air box.. cheap either way but it is still risky(gtr repair labour costs) u never know about its mechanical condition till its here.. -

see knore! its not just me and it is NOT A CONCEPT!!!!!!!! concept cars are are those created more to judge whether to build the car or just to show off the skills of the company, this car is wayyyyyy past that its a production car that hasnt made it! im surprised u havnt heard more about it! -

its not in concept stage! its meant to be on the roads now! the 'great car' was meant to be made already!!!!! and its not the first time that most of the stuff on that car has been done... i give up... fine the 4 turbos is sort of interesting.. does that mean 4 blow of valves? lol. "ive got 4 bov's bro" although wats with the guy in the video calling them turbo-superchargers LOL and about how they stop the 'DREADED TURBO HOLE" LOL! i think it must be a direct translation or something.... -

it spun/hit the wall on high speed test roads(banked rings) and they admitted there was definetly a problem with the suspension setup... regulations was not the problem, it was that the car didnt pass the parent company's OWN regulations.. of course i would be annoyed, its not that its taking ages, its that its taking ages PAST the date they said it would be released! ie. they stuffed up! its looking like one of those supercars that ends up being a flop... edit: (although dont get me wrong i wouldnt mind one if it worked properly!!!) i personlly prefer pagani zonda, porsche carrera gt or an ferrari enzo.. the bugatti is too focused on top speed runs the others are drivers cars also capable of good top speed... did u know that if you are gonna try and hit top speed in the veyron bugatti will send u a new set of tyres just for that? it puts so much stress on tyres that it is dangerous to use anything less than new tyres if attempting to hit the claimed top speed.. -

siksII replied to knore's topic in General Automotive Discussion
also spun/crashed at two demonstration runs, AND got pushed back a year from the original release date because it didnt pass VW's quality control tests. i would be a bit annoyed if i put down a deposit for one. -
Hey, maybe you should get a car that comes hard on boost while you are still under the speed limit, then maybe you wont lose your license again, i know if i had your car i would want to enjoy the boost as much as possible (and be wayy over the speed limit of course with the gearing of a gtr!) just an idea (i know i was enjoying hi-rpm power and the resulting speed when i lost my license ) i think its a bit odd sydneykid is using 7000rpm for an example of why the t78 would be crap because it falls off boost, as for an rb26 you would be shifting at 8000, revs drop 3000 and you wouldnt wait for more boost... you dont shift that early do you?
-
if you have been stopping and starting, and you notice the car gets sluggish, its nothing to worry about, it is the intercooler getting and staying hot, causing the intake temp. to rise and your car to become a bit sluggish. also if you have an un-partitioned pod filter it would make things worse. about the sudden kick issue.. when i want to have a bit of fun in an auto (ie. when driving my parents car) i just leave it in 1st or second gear
-
The blitz SUS (metal filter) is BY FAR the loudest i have ever heard. if you want noise get it, its very loud!!!!! although by the looks of it it wouldnt filter very well!

Why did i get chopped by a fto!!!???
siksII replied to paully_tee's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
that sounds more realistic -
BNR32, a guy in another thread in forced induction has gtr-s's, they come on full boot (1.3bar) at 5400rpm in third, i personally dont think that would make them a good all round choice, t517/8zs are a similar deal arent they? i think gtss's would be the more logical choice, or even N1's are a lot less laggy than gtrs's
