  1. I just cut and polished my car on saturday... it took 5 hours and i didnt have time to do the wheels.. swirls are still there.. in pics my car looks awesome, no swirls. but in real life its a diff matter. I think it depends alot on the quality of paint. My old car was mettalic black, i worked hard on it quite often, and there was no swirls. BUT then some drunk idiot crashed into me, and i had to get one side of the car resprayed. After that, one side had swirls, and the original paint didnt. so i guess the nissan factory paint isnt that swirl resistant.
  2. I think there is a difference between experience and driving properly. Forget experience, lots of older people cant drive, just as lots of younger people cant. This is always illustrated to me whenever i drive, even today on the freeway, i was tailgated constantly, without the drivers doing it even realising what risk they were putting themselves and me in. If i had to hit the brakes suddenly, they would have wiped me out, no question, so as usual, i was constantly trying to avoid these people. And never was it by a young driver, all middle age, or over 50 by the looks of them. So mines_datsun.. all i have to say to u is i hope everything works out, i cant imagine how stupid and shit u must feel already so im not gonna reiterate it... And you never get yourself into this type of shit again..
  3. well my car doesnt have that problem, in fact, it doesnt have a dimmer switch at all lol
  4. if u remove the headlight and stick it in the oven at medium heat for a while u can remove the clear part from the back part, then clean it out or do whatever u want im serious
  5. LOLL ok, makes mental note: 'Swirls are the clay bar's nemesis'
  6. ah ok well i prob wouldnt pay 150.. i called quite a few detailers around sydney, and they all want between 100-150max... but from the sounds of things im sure he would do a good job either way. benm, i went to the act and snowy mountains this weekend, were u there at that time too? i met u a EC a few weeks ago remember.. i put up a gallery of my weekend drive check it out. http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl4lxm/mountains/
  7. see merli knows what my problem is, no matter how hard u try even with pretty strong cutting compounds by hand its hard to get swirls out, even if everything else looks good. damn swirls! whereabouts in syd are u roy?
  8. roy, i have already tried all that. i even have a small collection of clean terry towel cloths, and meguires applicator pads to do it all with, and have used soft wash in the shade, leave till dry, then paint cleaner, then polish, then wax. all meguires products and the sswirls are still there.. which is why im resorting to getting someone else to do it But if you think you can do it, then i dont mind coming over to and giving it a go with you
  9. yeah but it would probably be heaps more that 80 if that is just for a normal wash n wax... to remove the swirls they would have to use machine...
  10. go to a place on quakers hill parkway(i think. its the road that goes to the tafe there), they have 19" roh tyre and wheel package for 3 grand... seems like a good deal..
  11. ask him how much he would want... he sounds like the type of guy we need..
  12. yeah well if im really feeling tight, i might resort to something like brasso or scratchx all over my car...but i would prefer not too. i used brasso on the clear plastic in front of the guages since it was scratched and dirty, and it came up like new also on the headlights.
  13. yeah 15 degrees must suck.. i used mine all weekend (1000kms) and it was working beautifully My dad got quoted from a place that he was sent to by our mechanic, the mechanic is Lambs rd auto repairs in artarmon... so if you call them you could get a good price in case you live in the north.
  14. As the title says... after a recent long trip, my tyres are now worn down too much in the centre of the tyre..so i need some, and wouldnt mind second hand tyres.. so if anyone has some, pm me or call me on 0402465128 thanks
  15. i dont mind doing the work, but its impossible to get the swirls out by hand! and i dont know how to use an orbital buffer at the risk of burning a hole in my car! lol.
  16. To see an exhibition and the nats... so yeah basically wat else is there fun to do in the act. ALso would like to know where some good fireworks shops are...
  17. thats right, but how do you inspect it? how do u know by looking at it if there is gas? i was just wondering about this yesterday :headspin:
  18. Hey, i was just after some recommendations for car detailers. My car (lots of imports seem to have this...) has lots of swirls on it, than cannot be removed by hand polishing (i have tried lots of meguires products btw.) So i need a place that can cut and polish my car to remove the swirls and leave a nice, smooth finish I have tried a search already, without useful answers, also, please dont tell me to look in the yellow pages, i have called a few places already, but am looking for personal recommendations. Thanks!
  19. sounds about right. im planning on getting my front bar, mirrors, rear bar, and now maybe rear quarter done. freshen it up, and i scraped my front car which is the main reason
  20. couple of hundred bucks? every re gas i have heard of is around $110-130.. just get it done and enjoy it during this summer my parents car needs it and we got quoted 114 for it.

    Idle

maybe thats it, because just a few months back i changed the plugs from (fouled) platinums to ngk iridium. But the heat range is correct...i think they are 6 or 7..the same as before. I have not gapped them though, so they are 1.1, cuz i didnt want to damage them.
  22. Sorry about the delay, as far as i can see, only works for the 300zx motor this is also sort of confirmed on the conzult website, where rb engines are not listed as compatible.... ill still ask around, maybe you can somehow make it work with the rb engine without too much trouble.
  23. three weeks ago some f*** keyed my rear qtr... cant fix with cut n polish.. it is through the paint im not sure whether it is worth getting it sprayed...what is a round about price for getting that area sprayed?

    Idle

thanks for the replies to far.. but druzilla32 - i never drive the car without letting it idle for at least 5 minutes when cold... it usually happens when the car has been on for less than 30 minutes i would say.. and to sewid- it is not the clutch fan engaging, when it engages there is not much difference in the idle compared to the high idle i am talking about, the temp gauge never reaches half way, always sits slightly below half way once warm.
  25. definetly. nowdays when u lose something its lost for good unless you somehow get it yourself. The cops hardly ever find anything thats been reported.
